The stars of the world premiere of 'The Shawshank Redemption' at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin have been announced.

Reg Cathey, best known for his role as Norman Wilson in 'The Wire', will play Red, while Kevin Anderson, whose film credits include 'Sleeping with the Enemy' and 'Charlotte's Web', will play Andy Dufresne.

Adapted by Owen O'Neill and Dave Johns from Stephen King's novella 'Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption', the production will be directed by Peter Sheridan.

Does anybody watch Oz? the amount of actors in it that are in the wire is unreal. For those of you who love the wire i highly reccemond OZ 6 series gritty prison drama absolutely brilliant!:D

beats prison break handsdown and i used to love prison break ( well series one and 2 anyway:p)

watch it you wont regret it!

Lots of The Wire actors starting to show up in the CSI shows now, Cutty was a lab tech in CSI: Miami last week and Omar was in CSI:NY recently as a criminal I think!

Not sure where SWAT (Colin Farrell) fits into the timeline of The Wire but Herc and Carcettis Adviser(Chief of staff) or whatever is in SWAT..

I'm pretty sure there is somebody else aswell from Season 5 but I just can't put my finger on it..

More really "What 'The Wire' actors did before' but if you check out Larry Clark's barely-ever-released "Ken Park", you'll see a lot more of James Ransone (Ziggy) than you probably ever wanted to see and whatever you imagine I mean by that, you're probably only halfway there...

Ya Spiros was in a good few episodes in the last couple of series, its always weird seeing any of The Wire actors out of Baltimore!

Saw Stringer Bell mincing about in an army uniform in "28 Weeks Later" on RTE last night...kept wondering if he'd just come from his Economics 101 class.

Has Omar been in many other shows/movies? I think he popped up in S.W.A.T and had a brief scene with Colin Farrell but haven't seen him in anything else.

Would love to see Bunk, Avon and Slim Charles getting more work

Yeah I noticed that. If you watch Law and Order you will know that his character Munch started out his law career in Baltimore. Well spotted bro

Omar was also in a great movie called 'Gone Baby Gone'. Small role in it where he plays a cop, but good film nonetheless. Also stars Amy Ryan (Beadie) in a bigger part and she is brilliant in it. Won awards and stuff I think

I don't know if this has been posted already but Domenic West was the chairman on "Have I got news for you" last night on BBC2. Probably a repeat.
It was a bit disturbing to hear his posh Brit accent coming out of McNutty's mouth.

Also he had on a pair of specs that... well it has to be said...made him look nuts :rolleyes:

Just a small continuation on the Det John Munch thingy but as well as that being his character in Homicide, life on the streets it was also his character in Law and order (obviously) but also when he appeared in the Xfiles(1997), arrested development(2006) and believe it or not.........Sesame street.
