Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

http://www.rte.ie/news/2008/0206/shannon.htmlFlights at Shannon delayed tonight
watch Wednesday, 6 February 2008 19:52
Passengers flying to and from Shannon Airport are likely to face delays tonight as a result of unofficial action by air traffic controllers.
The Irish Aviation Authority has confirmed there will be no air traffic controllers on duty at the control tower in Shannon this evening between 7pm and 9pm.
No planes will be able to take off or land during this time.
Air traffic controllers are in a long-running dispute with the Irish Aviation Authority over staffing levels and overtime.
Four flights are scheduled to depart between 7pm and 9pm this evening: Ryanair flights to Manchester, Stansted and Birmingham, as well as an Air France flight to Paris. Three flights due to arrive from Paris, Prestwick and Stansted will also be affected.
Passengers are being advised by Shannon Airport management to contact their airlines.
Ryanair is advising passengers to check in as normal this evening. A company spokesperson said Ryanair expects its three flights from Shannon will be delayed by an hour.
Similar action by air traffic controllers at Dublin airport on 25 Janaury resulted in up to 32 flights being delayed.
The Irish Aviation Authority has appealed to the controllers to desist from unofficial action, which can cause great inconvenience to airlines and the travelling public. The Authority has asked air traffic controllers to adhere to the process agreed at the Labour Relations Commission.
'This is the third time in a little over two weeks that IMPACT has given an assurance that their members would return to normal working and it is also the third time that air traffic controllers have reneged on this commitment,' IAA said in a statement.
The IAA says an agreement had been reached in the dispute, which was mediated by the Labour Relations Commission. The agreement involved a process and time schedule to deal with grievances by air traffic controllers.
The IAA has accused the air traffic controllers of violating the agreement with their unofficial strike action tonight.
Ryanair has called on the Irish Aviation Authority to ensure there are adequate contingency plans and to try to ensure this does not happen again.0 -

Thursday, 7 February 2008 20:43
Iarnród Éireann has said there will be no rail services between Ennis and Limerick at least until Sunday, because of flooding on the railway line.
Heavy rain has meant that a section of the line at Ballycar, between Ennis and Sixmilebridge is submerged under at least 12cm of water, and there has been no improvement since yesterday.
The company says it is monitoring the situation on a daily basis, but given the flooding levels at present it does not seem the line will be able to open so that services can resume before Sunday.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/northern_ireland/7241971.stmControllers issuing strike notice
Irish air traffic controllers have issued a strike notice to the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).
Workers are planning an overtime ban from 26 February and temporary work stoppages, union Impact has said.
The controllers are in dispute over staffing levels and the amount of overtime they are being asked to do as a result.
The authority said it was "disappointed" by the move, which could affect all flights.
It claimed it was a "blatant breach" of the national wage agreement, Towards 2016.
Over the weekend 99% of controllers voted in favour of industrial action.
An IAA statement said: "This has the potential to cause major disruptions to airlines and to the travelling public."
There have been a number of hearings before Ireland's Labour Relations Commission (LRC) in an attempt to resolve the dispute and talks resume again next Tuesday, 19 February.0 -

The two were two young males who were travelling in the same car. Their car collided with another car, which was being driven by an off duty garda, who is in a serious condition in Tallaght Hospital. The incident happened at about 6am this morning.
Gardaí say the section of the N7 southbound between the Saggart and Grangecastle exits will be closed for most of the day. Traffic is being diverted through Saggart and Rathcoole.
The Garda Síochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. This incident has been referred to GSOC by the Garda Commissioner under section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005.
Anyone who may have any information that could be of assistance to the investigation are asked to contact the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission at 1890 600 800.0 -
Also seen this today, rather shocking if it is true

More than 2,500 gardaí have not completed the "required driver training course" for the force.
The Department of Justice has admitted that one fifth of members must be given special dispensation by supervisors to drive Garda vehicles.
The findings came about after Fine Gael TD Damien English raised questions about the number of gardaí qualified to drive official Garda cars.0 -

A dispute over rostering between management and unions at Irish Rail has led to disruption of some train services.
Further disruption is also expected on some commuter routes tomorrow.
Both sides in the dispute are to hold talks at the Labour Relations Commission tomorrow the morning.
Most passengers departing Heuston Station, Dublin today were unaffected.
However passengers travelling from Dublin to Galway at 1.45pm had to take the bus.
Buses were also put on for those affected by the cancelled services between Cork and Mallow and Tralee and Mallow.
Tomorrow the first train from Portlaoise to Dublin has been cancelled as has the 5.30pm train from Heuston to Carlow tomorrow evening.

I haven't seen this mentioned on the DB site but since Friday the 77 has been travelling a different way.
From Jobstown it leaves the terminus, turns at the first roundabout and instead of going up the Jobstown Road, Russell Square, Brookfield Road, Cheeverstown Road, Cookstown Road and left on to the N81 up to the Square it travels back down the Fortunestown Road towards the Jobstown House and turns left onto the N81 up the the Square.
It's the same change coming back from the City.
According to the drivers I've asked this is because the work on the Cheeverstown Road/Cookstown Road has made it to difficult to navigate in a bus.
Hopefully this is of help to someone.0 -
Is the terminus still at the old terminus or is it further back along the route? That a lot of people inconvenienced.0

The 8:48 Clonsilla to Docklands didn't appear this morning so I got the 8:58 to Connolly (I boarded at Coolmine). Gawd it was horrible. I got to read my paper until Castleknock when the surge of people behind me left me with my face planted into the yellow grab rail.
I rang Clonsilla when I got to work and they said that it left at 9:15. It was unable to turn back (after coming from Docklands) because the points were stuck.
Of course, there were no announcements to those of us standing freezing on the platform :mad:0 -

The terminus is in the same place. Hope this will be a bit more descriptive.

The new route means about 6 or 7 bus stops around Jobstown are not served.0 -
