Why is next season so far away

It feels even further after the way the last one ended. But moving on, moving on, desperately moving on...

i remember beating the Packers and not much after that. Yes that must have been the end of last season

Don't know how I feel about this, considering Julius Thomas was free, either way, huge step up from poor Miller

Massive weapon in the red zone, but Unger is a pro-bowl centre, is Lemuel ready to step up?

And that's our first round pick gone!

Gained another fourth round pick which is where in recent times the Seahawks have picked up some gems

Assuming he stays fit, I would be extremely happy with Graham.

Wasn't Unger injured during our bad spell last season? That wouldn't auger well.

If we get the Graham of 2011/12 then yes it's a excellent addition.

Unger was a fantastic blocker, but it's hard to forget how bad he is with snapping the ball. He's had some desperate snaps in his time and it seems as if they've had enough of it.

A good centre isn't that hard to find, a good TE is extremely hard to find.

Either way, this season expectation will be enormous.

Anything less than 16-0 regular season and SB50 win and I will be bitterly disappointed

On a serious note, Pete and John obviously havent seen anything better in the draft re. TE and so have gone for it.
Look at the O-Line at draft day, a WR?

    Carp to the Jets
    Smith to the Raiders

    $14.5m cap room left.

Whats the news on Wilson new contract?

  • Registered Users Posts: 950 ✭✭✭nasty_crash

they will prob wait for a couple of weeks before finalizing that deal - cut a couple more fringe players - free up a bit of cap space etc. Wilson deal is pretty much gonna bring Seahawks up to the cap mark! He is gonna get paid!! Say around the 20 mill mark tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

Dont think it will be that high, he doesnt strike me as a grab all player either.

He doesnt strike me as a grab all player - but at the same time if you consider that he has lead the seahawks to back to back superbowl games - and with the amount that he creates for the offense - i can see them going big - because thats the market - Aaron Rodgers loves Packers - still signed 21 mill contract - Drew Brees is at saints - there in salary cap hell - and he is still on 20 mill! Franchise qbs get paid!

First two seasons were not great. He was overweight, half decent run blocker but a revolving door in pass protection. He trimmed down a bit and did well last season, started moving people on running plays and his pass blocking improved, though still his weak point. If he stays in shape he is still young enough to improve more. Penalties will drive you nuts though.

However, part of me wonders if last season was him playing for a contract, as it appears as though no move was made to try keep him at a time when we have lost a good deal of depth on the O-Line and the price (~5m) wasn't all that huge.

Another thing to consider is the zone blocking scheme that Seattle have been running - him being of the more cuddly variety of gent could benefit more from a traditional setup.

If he stays fit and motivated, he'll do well. Jets seem to have a good bit of cap at the moment so 5m probably not the hugest punt on record for a starting Guard.

How are we feeling about the 2nd/3rd round pick.

    No idea to be honest.

Two fourth round picks coming up in a few minutes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,969 ✭✭✭✭alchemist33

Our second round pick could be a bit of a handful unless he's turned a corner in his life. Third round; well, we obviously need better WRs and kick returners.

And now we've gone for offensive linemen in the fourth. It would be nice if Russell didn't HAVE to run around so much.

How good any of these guys are, I have no idea.

    Brady & Patriots ?

I thought the fine & suspension was too small. They should have had to forfeit all their games that were questionable, not just the SB.

Or else, have another extraordinary playoff with the seahawks & winner takes the Bowl. That would be historic.

With all the peds abuse from Seahawks player I was surprised that they didn't lose draft picks and get heavily fined over it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

Wouldn't have affected them anyway, Seahawks haven't made a first round draft pick in years.

I'd settle for replaying the last 30 seconds of the Superbowl :D

Wilson 4 year extension $87.6 million

    Signing bonus $31 million
    Avg salary $21.9 million
    Guaranteed $60 million

    Big numbers.

And now Wagner signs a four year extension.

Our Cap space must be blown at this stage.

Kam now holding out on a new deal.

    Tony McDaniel released.

All action in week 1 of training camp.

Any news on this? As of Monday, it was looking like he was going to go. I'm getting a vague sense of the team's strengths being diluted, although it looks like we have a decent kick returner this year at least.

Speaking of which and sorry to bring up old painful memories but:

why didn't Lynch run to his left and head for the corner on this penultimate play, it was wide open !

In the end he chose to follow 46 and got bottled up at the 1

In relation to Kam, he gave an interview to some NFL reporter saying he wasn't looking for more money just to front load more into this season. Says his team and Seahawks management are about 1 million out in terms of agreement but he will meet half way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

Lockett has looked good pre season alright, scored two TDs from kick returns, one of 103 yards V Broncos. Plus one playing WR.

    Morisee, too soon man!

Queue a season of commentators reminding us of that play everytime there's a play from inside the 2 yard line.

Watching the build up to the Patriots Steelers game last night and seeing highlights again of SB49. Ugh.

Going to have to look at SB48 or the NFC Championship game v Green Bay over the weekend for some balance.

I hate the Rams. Every bloody year!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,969 ✭✭✭✭alchemist33

Yeah, they're a right bogey team for us. Very disappointing result given we'd fought back to lead. That onside kick decision -- I guess if it had come off, we'd have been raving about it but it was such a critical point to do it. And where have we heard that this year...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

If I heard "Oh they're going to run it this time" once more!!

Back to the game - offense looked weak. Wilson was sacked 6 (I think) times, Lynch didnt get that much go forward ball, some of the snaps Wilson was picking up off the floor, never looked a real threat, one TD was Lockett being Lockett and another a sack recovery where the ball could have gone anywhere.

Defense wasnt up to its usual high standard, badly missed Kam, highlighted with the slip that allowed the Rams run in the TD to take the game to OT.

And now the easy matter of Green Bay on the road. A 0-2 start to the season is more likely than not!

Debating to stay up for tonight.
