Link below to house in ballinasloe which comes with a bathtub full of dead bees, I kid you not.

To be fair it also includes the statement
    Best demolished.

There seems to be a bizzare trend towards honesty in estate agent advertising in that part of the world. Cant really see such strange concepts catching on though.
    Other Features:
    Mains Electricity

Looking for a place to rent in Dublin at the moment and this is seriously the best I have come across so far:

Green Valley porperty website always good for a laugh. Their Clare properties are particuarly entertaining. At least they are honest in their descriptions ("vaguely house shaped pile of stones")

    Some more classics :D
No chance of planning permission. Might make weekend retreat for those with camper vans etc
This is a wooded site, with a mixture of Ash, Larch etc. Clearing will have to be made to facilitate building. Very suitable for timber house
    Neighbour next door
Full planning permission for circa 2,600 sq. ft two storey house. Planning ref:P06/759 refers. No strange conditions
Empty for decades. A challenge for the restoration enthusiast
Derelict, stonebuilt cottage, now a pile of stones, complete with tree growing out of it
What was once a house shaped pile of stones, now a wall or two with the rest missing.,
Steeping into this cottage feels like stepping back in time. Although lived in until October 2007 by a bachelor farmer, the cottage has a distinctly 19th century feel, reminiscent of Bunratty Folk Park.Walls and roof appear to be fine, otherwise comprehensive refurbishment is required.Access is quite unique! From the tarred road, there is a right of way, via a track across a field, to a spot where the previous owner parked his car. This is about 100 metres from the house. From hereon the road becomes a small river, with steep sides, which is drivable by a tractor or modest four wheel drive vehicles.
Next door to the Church and within walking distance of the pub. As the owner says ‘God on one side and Guinness on the other’.
Probably best if the whole structure is demolished and started again.

    and best of all.............................
    suitable for very small people

    Im shocked.

Many of these properties are clearly unfit for humans - even animals have a right of better accommodation.

All the Dublin rentals seems to be cupboards retrofitted to exploit people who dont have any other options.

    Disgraceful.

I do like the honesty of the property agents in Clare though :).

Welcome to Ireland. How many days since you arrived ?
When did Sligo become a city???
Seemingly its quite a common delusion amongst the locals.

The inside doesn't look that bad
From the perspective of a Calcuttan slum deweller maybe.
Aside from an attempt at a kitchen theres damn all to it. And the presence of a storage heater is an ominous sign.

Well I'm apt. hunting and came across this thread tonight - thanks for the break and the great laughs. Just FYI I'm American, and it still never fails to gaul the crap outta me what the Irish have put up with from OTHER Irish people (landlords) for ooh so very long...and still do.

This is kind of an aside really, but one thing that always kills me is putting a bed in a studio apartment. I've lived in 4 countries and in NYC for years and NO ONE puts a bed in a single room...unless they're a hooker.

Has no landlord in this country ever heard of a daybed? a sofabed? a murphy bed? or a loft style platform bed?

You walk in and the whole room is bed...do they not see what the room is screaming at you!?

Guess it's all in how you look at it.

    El

to be fair to that one, glasson is a lovely village only a few miles from athlone, the lakes are beautiful around there, and for 70,000 its seems like you get a good bit of land facing out onto the lake, which i would love, can imagine it, knocking down that house, building another lovely house for about 100 grand or 120 grand with a dock out on the lake, during hot days going swimming in the water and then having bbq's in the evening! it could be really nice!

    Found another few gems:

Number 1, a self proclaimed artisan's house (tiny ****hole) with a roof curved like a banana:

    http://www.daft.ie/searchsale.daft?id=575955

Second beautiful property we have for you is a bedsit in lovely Drumcondra:

    http://www.daft.ie/searchrental.daft?id=1019258

Photo one shows a scenic view of the promenade, photo two is a recent invention called a microvision (TV and microwave combination, get your popcorn while you're enjoying an action packed thriller) and photo three gives you what we can only call an improvised sofa.

I don't know, the roof could be described as a fine example of surrealism that Salvador Dali would be proud of.

All of the bedsits in this thread are terrible. Its depressing to know that during the boom these holes were probably being rented out at high prices. I feel sorry for any poor f***er that had to stay in one of these places.

Oh good old daft for the gems.

"Brightly lit, spacious apartment. Newly decorated"

Now, check out the 4 photos.
    http://www.daft.ie/searchrental.daft?id=1027955

Last time that kip got 'decorated' was late 80's at a push, and from the bargain bin left from the whole decade.

Just look at that knackered furniture. Even the freewaste sites give away for free better stuff than that!

Is that really supposed to be a kitchen!!

Best of all, he is looking for €120 per week for that dump!!

"Newly Decorated" really means you've just dragged a bunch of old furniture into the room.

Think it means they just cleaned out the rat/badger/owl traps round the property.

Having a chair in the bathroom allows you to have a conversation with your visitors while on the throne.

As for the washingmachine on the bath :D

Reckon it to be a dryer but it hardly matters.
