Kick it off early for speculation.

    Trailer:

This will be the first episode of the show to not take place in real time.

    Synopsis:
In the highly anticipated season finale, the clock ticks toward the final seconds of Jack Bauer’s most heroic day. As the world teeters on a terror plot of mass proportions, Jack and the team reunite one last time to avert an imminent international crisis. With little time left and the fate of the free world on the line, Jack is faced with an unthinkable and grave decision. Lives will be lost and the American administration will grapple with the day’s most devastating news as the clock stops in the all-new “Day 9: 10:00 PM – 11:00 AM” Event Series Finale episode of 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY

Going by the trailer, my guess is Audrey dies, Jack finds out on the ship, goes bat **** insane, then dies too.
    :(

Ya definitely think its the end of Audrey. Hopefully Jack can make it but cant see it tbh. This really could be the best season of 24 for me.

Very close with Day 5 for me. Genuinely think Jack will die though.
Audrey dies (hence Hellers collapse in the trailer), he's nothing left to live for so goes all out to get Cheng.
Glad to see more belcheck though.

I dont trust him for some reason. I definitely think someone is gonna doublecross Jack, be it him or Kate (probably thinking too far outside the box)

No don't say that, I really like him!
Cant stop watching the promo, Kates face as she tries to rescue Audrey doesn't fill me with confidence either.

I reckon they'll both make it. the coffin is either heller or Morgan

I thought this too, I can't see it been Jacks anyway as the coffin is draped with the american flag and Jack is no longer in the Army nor a federal agent. I reckon Heller has some sort of heart attack knowing that something bad has happened to Audrey ?

Theres a new, very slightly different trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcugnBuf848

    Has a quick shot of
Mark sitting in the CIA looking devastated.Between that and the President collapsing, i'd say Audrey goes bye bye

    Kate accidentally shoots her?

    Yeah she might
get caught in the cross fire. Someone on a different message board pointed out it looks like there is actually 2 coffins. :(

Of course, the secret service dude that was with Audrey could be in the coffin...

    Wild guess time :

Jack trades himself for Chloe to Cheng.
    Audrey dies.

I can't see an ending that they haven't done before - didn't Palmer give Jack a presidential
pardon in an earlier season ?
He's already faked his death , already gone to china , I can't see a happy ending for Jack.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,557 ✭✭✭KeithM89

I think Chloe will be heavily involved, they wont just leave her lying in a forest.

Some early reviews leaked, one said it was his favourite episode of 24 to date and another said "You'll experience every emotion except joy".

Would rather the president dies than Audrey tbh.

Audrey for me, everything points towards it imo.

    Big
Looks like Chloe gets kidnapped, maybe by the russians, and Jack trades with her. Its daytime too so must be near the end

Straight in as my number 1 episode of all time, man tears were shed.
So many highlights but by far the best was the

Jack had mostly a wry grin in the final scene... as though he'd seen it all before, and he has to a certain extent...

What got me most about the episode was President Heller's conversation with the Prime Minister... found it very moving and real.

Whereto now for Kate Morgan? Your guess is as good as mine....

Chloe, Chloe, Chloe..... actually Belcheck and herself made a cute couple :-)

Cheng is a nimbler bugger than you'd think for a man of his years.

Overall impressions this season? Well look, since season 5 the shock value of 24 has considerably lessened for me....
this season was correct in only going with 12 shows... hard to imagine trying to hack a further dozen episodes out of this season and still make it fresh and compelling.

I was impressed with the opening of the season with the Chloe jail break etc.... yet even in only 12 episodes there were elements of padding etc.... Characters like Audrey, Ritter etc. were a tad aimless at times. I liked "Bad Navarro" in the latter episodes.

While I've had a bond with 24 since my college days... and a certain loyalty to it always.... I do think that the Best Before Date of Jack Bauer elapsed around 2006.

Still, thanks for the farewell tour this time though Jack!

That was my favourite part of this episode too. So sad.

Fingers crossed for another series next year - this one has been fantastic.

Great final episode. Like everyone else said, the scene with Heller and the PM was so moving and definitely the highlight of the episode. A lot to with from here and they should defo stick to 12 episodes from now on imo.

He finally smiles.

    Really enjoyed that.

    I hope it gets renewed.

I can see Chloe and Kate heading east at the start of the day 10.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,557 ✭✭✭KeithM89

Day 10 set in Moscow with Chloe and Belcheck trying to find Jack, its obvious the door was left open for another season.

Wouldve liked to see Mark react to Audreys death, he's a great actor.
    Wonder whatever happened to Simone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,340 ✭✭✭PropJoe10

I had a little cry there at the end, I'm not ashamed to admit. Hope this isnt the last we see of the great Jack Bauer! A great last episode to a fantastic season!

Belcheck is a good addition isn't he, the silent type who comes and goes and doesn't upset the flow of things.

You'd imagine if there was another season, the untangling of Jack's current situation could be taken care of in a stand-alone 10 minute season prequel like some of the other seasons.

The writers have been saying that if there is another one (and it's a BIG if!) they'd like to see Jack transplanted back to California - they consider that the spiritual home of 24. It would get kind of tenuous if they tried to shoehorn Jack's tech helper into another season beyond a brief cameo, although I guess she's now officially his "best friend" :-)

Isn't it funny how quickly you'd forget the Margot and Simone storyline once Navarro and then Cheng came on the scene...

Jack going ultra gun crazy like he did with the Drazens in season 1 is always walking the line of cartoonishness though IMO

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

It's been a really enjoyable season.

The conversation between Heller and the PM was a real sad one. Was genuinely gutted after it.

One minor grip.. why did they just advance 12 hours. Was there any point in it at all?

I'm just a little surprised they didn't use that "spare" time a bit more through the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,078 ✭✭✭lukin

Disappointing finale really. I think everyone twigged that the idea of the sniper on Audrey was so that Cheng could get away. I wasn't a bit shocked that Audrey snuffed it, very predictable that she would be the sacrificial lamb.I never liked her character anway, too whiny. I was much more gutted when
    Renee got killed
as she was far hotter than Audrey.:)
The ending was just a repeat of when
Jack got taken away in a slow boat to China
. He came back for another season after that so I assume he will do the same this time. Roll on Day 10!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Audrey's death was a bit lame. Of course Cheng would have redundancy. First her husband's innocence then Audrey's death, two mistakes to haunt Kate.

Jack looked relieved to be going to Russia. Wonder if he wants to be punished?

    I liked the cycle.
Kate guilty about husband, Kate ends the day guilty about Audrey.
Jack starts the day rescuing Chloe and ends rescuing her.

    Also belcheck is cool

    Two most powerful scenes:
    Jack considering suicide.
    Heller talking about memory loss.

Hopefully there's another series as this one was great fun to watch.

Thought that was quite subtle, wondered if everyone copped it!

    I ****ing love 24

You knew as soon as Audrey was killed, Jack was going to go badass ala the drazens in season 1. It was the ending that was always going to happen, they would never definitely kill off Jack, to be honest he's not the type of character you do that to. Writers can do two things leave it forever and we all know Jack rotted in a Russian prison or they can bring him back like they did from the Chinese before.

Heller as president I enjoyed, Audrey is annoying so it wasn't too sad.

Best bit was when Jack chopped of Cheng's head, I shouted YES!

It was a good season but not a patch on the original run IMO. While 24 was always OTT, I felt this season was bordering on stupid and you could drive trucks through the plot holes. I'm going to watch it back in a few months all together and see if it has grown on me more.

Hoping for another, Jack Bauer is one of the greatest TV characters ever IMO and my favourite action star.

Great end to a very good season! I'd been putting off watching the episode all day as I was convinced Jack was going to die. Right up to the last second I was waiting for the worst to happen. But thankfully Jack survived another day!

I do think we will get another season. And I wouldnt mind if it was another 3 or 4 years before we got it. I know Kiefer is getting older but the most important thing will be to get the script right. Also the producers said before one of the main reasons for bringing the show back was because they felt they didnt get a chance to wrap it up how they would have liked to at the end of Day 8. But I dont see Jack going to prison in Russia as "wrapping it up" hence why I expect more 24.

Probably my one disappointment with the episode was that Mark didnt get a pardon. Great actor and a very strong character. Even though he f***ed Jack over you could see how much he cared for Heller and I honestly think he thought he was protecting him forging his signature.

Not sure how the next season will work. Will Jack be freed in the middle of a crisis? Will he already be out at the start of the day. Depending on Heller's condition now maybe he'd be involved in getting Jack free. The guilt would be there (if he can remember) of not having tried to free Jack when he was in China years ago. And he knows how it hurt Jack that he didnt help him then. But if he resigns straight away then he wouldnt have much political power.

But my God if there is another season get Tony back! Him, Jack and Belcheck bringing down terrorist cells around the world!

Was reading over on 24spoilers.com that the ending was changed last minute and also 24 is doing a panel for comicon which is strange for shows apparently 'finished' so it looks like Day 10 could be on the cards.
Wonder which James bond-esque title theyll choose next season.....

Have to say the highlight of the season for me was Jack and Belcheck breaking Chloe out of detainment in the first episode - thrilling!

P.S. Is Kate Warner (season 2) the only Jack love interest not to die?

    Terri RIP
    Nina RIP
    Renee RIP
    Audrey RIP

That can't be it. Surely. As a final episode ever, the ending was far too depressing. Easily see another series with Them breaking Jack out.

Heller's speech was ****ing depressing too! but it was a brilliant scene. Them feels.

Ok let me think... Claudia was one of those Salazar's right?

And Diane? Hmmm who was she? She had a kid and cooked Jack breakfast I think? I thought Jack was just a lodger, but it's been 10 years so things get hazy :pac:

    And Kate Warner .
edit and Marilyn Bauer according to 24 wiki, 3 out of 8!!

I reckon there will be a threat against Russia that Jack can prevent and he may get a pardon from them if he stops it. could do a few hours in Russia, stop threat, get a pardon but the threat follows on to the states so jack has to go back to LA. could suit the 12 episodes in 24 hours well.

I always thought the unsung hero of 24 was the music, and last night was just top stuff. From the tense music when Kate was about to rescue Audrey, to Jacks rampage to the piano theme at the very end, it really makes it stand out from every other tv show.

Think that ending all but confirms another season.

It was a great season. Still life in the old dog yet. Loved that Cheng finally got killed by Jack. That's been a long time coming.
