Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Work in public sector library. Not a member or affiliated to any organisation. Main interest is the road network. Living in Dundalk and going home to Mayo now and again, its pretty easy to see the state of our road networks in differing parts of the country. For example on Thursday next (August 2nd) the M1/N1 will become the 1st completed Interurban route in the South, while the N5 will be completed when????????

I work in a private company with absolutely no affiliation or contact with any construction, engineering, designing, or planning aspect of what passes for a transport "network" in this country. Nor am I a member of any political party.

Just another voice/opinion, from someone who has travelled, lived, and driven abroad quite a lot, and who continually gets frustrated at the crap infrastructure and standards in this country, with no-one seemingly answerable for any of it !

    Yours etc, Mr Angry.

My company, Digital Messenger Ltd. has recently been issued with a licence to operate a public transport service from Swords to the City Centre via the Port Tunnel. It will trade under the name 'Swords Express' (http://www.swordsexpress.com/). We plan to begin operating in November.

I use public transport alot, my life suffers because of it. After living in London for a few years I am adamant transport should be privatised and I am a staunch supporter of the little guy, particularly anyone who comes up with new ideas and services designed to serve the people rather than hinder them.

I've been posting here for a few years now but thought I should update this. I work for a subcontracting company involved in the M50 eFlow project. Happily I know almost nothing about it but all of a sudden, I'm pro-tolling :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 U-Turn

U-Turn, blogger and poster and founder of Toll-Free-M50 web campaign operationfreeflow.com, trying to provide a focal point for public debate, action relating to the continuing M50 saga.

Not politically aligned in any way and ironically not a user of the M50 in any big way but seriously suspicious of this after another major U-turn by our politicians.

Self employed with little time to be doing this kind of stuff but it has to be done or we will constantly dictated to by an ever increasing alliance of Private Interests & Government.

    I hope that helps.

Not affiliated with any party or organisation. I just have an interest in transport in general - mainly by road, though, as I don't live near an airport, seaport or train station. I'm also originally from the middle of nowhere, so public transport hasn't been an option for me for most of my life. The roads I travel most often are the N8, the M8, the R639, the N20 and the N24.

Until fairly recently, a private individual who uses a lot of buses, and occasionally rental cars. I've worked in various industrial estates around the edges of Galway city, and had to get to them from the city-centre.

Now the founder of these public-transport focussed websites:

    www.GalwayTransport.info
    www.IrishTransport.info (still under development)

These sites both have google advertising on 'em. I will receive the benefits of this, if there are any. But I'm not holding my breath in anticipation of getting much benefit here - the sites are more an interest/public-service thing.

Professionally, I'm a business-systems-analyst: I've worked on a wide range of IT systems, though none to do with transport/commuting/infrastructure in Ireland.

Commuter with BÉ and IÉ for many years now (I vary which of the two operators I go with every few weeks, just so not I'm stuck looking at the same scenery every day of the year!), don't work for any transport company/group though.

I've been putting this off for long enough and am now putting a partial confession on record. Public transport user (mainly rail) for more than 40 years; ex.member of IRRS/RPSI/ITG/WISRA/GSRPS.....for the rest you'll have to wait for the imminent book. i comment on a few threads in commuting & transport so decided to put my cards firmly on the table! i travel quite a lot by rail bus and even by taxi but,

i have no affiliation with any transport company organisation or group but may be turning into a trainspotter of sorts due to finding much of the history of transport(not just rail) and the current state of transport in ireland so interesting

Victor, you were a bit slow updating us on your recent inclusion into the platform 11 fold.

I'm sure you will have a rapid rise to the top.

What is your current status in the organisation. And, is it something the readers of the board should know about?

I thought I had posted here long ago but obviously not.

No conflict of interest. Work in accounting for a non transport industry.

Ex long term user of Dublin bus and odd time DART. Little need since I finished college and walk/cycle/drive everywhere.

Strong interest in DB operations, notably south Dublin, Dun Laoghaire and N11 corridor routes as well as IE.

Interest in most mechanical aspect of transport (buses, trains, ferries etc) as well as policy.

Model railway enthusiast, particularly IE stock. :)
