CEX on Upper Liffey Street (Dublin) - Now Open

They haven't officially opened their doors yet but from what i could see through the shutters this morning they have a large second hand games section.
They also seem to be selling second hand phones and console peripherals.
They don't have the sign painted yet so don't know what it's called.

Sounds like a CEX. Their shops in the Uk are great for bargains

Cex is opening in Dublin holy crap
There really good to pick up deals online

Also they give you very good tradeing on DVDs CDs Blu Rays and Games and also they sell everything

Cant wait to have a look the next time i am in dublin

There's one in Derry. It's great if you want to buy a dozen beat up copies of the same few releases that everyone has already.

I just went in for a look. Think it possibly only opened today, as there's a Luigi, everyone is getting stickers + flyers, and there's a dozen staff behind the counter :pac:

I didn't think it was overly cheap for Xbox 360 games; I actually thought some of them were a bit expensive. But, they have a great PS2/Xbox section, which is great for me because I picked up an original Xbox two weeks ago

Picked up Burnout 3 for €4, and resisted buying Half Life 2 and NFS: Underground. Need my money for Record Store Day tomorrow :rolleyes:

It's a nice, spacious, tidy store. Everything is laid out great, and it's actually nice to browse, whereas you're usually quite cramped in a Gamestop store. The upstairs seems to be dedicated to DVDs, but I didn't go up.

Also a section for gadgets, phones, iPods etc.

Might go back for a proper look. I was going to take pics, but the place was full of people.

Also, maybe a mod should change the thread title to add in CEX

Would love to know that too. Need more options as to where I can get my physical disc PC games on the cheap. Gamestop, HMV and Game just dont cut it really. I suppose, who can blame them but this addition would be nice if they do.

Yep. Definitely not as big as any of the other sections, but it's there!

I might regret this, but I'm sitting in my hostel with feck all to do. I'll head back down later this evening. If anyone wants to know how much something is, post it here, and I'll do my best to find out

I'm not going to go find out what trade-in prices are, just whatever price is on stuff

Or if you want to know if they have a certain game for an older console, fire away

They will be setting up an Irish website, and from that franchise website, it looks like whoever set up the Dublin store is expected to open 3 or so more stores

Took a stroll down there today. PC section is almost non existent. Couple of new releases. Mostly old stock and probably second hand games.

On the plus side, they did have battlefield 1942 for sale at 25c.

Was in there just now. Looked pretty busy.

Anyway, good showing, dvd section is decently broad, good world movie section where I grabbed Hard Boiled for a euro.

Spy Hunter PS2 for one euro? Yes please

Had a quick look around, only had time to grab that and a copy of Soul Bubbles on the DS for six euro (meant to be a euro cheaper in Game but I had a film to catch :pac:). Solid selection, some gems in there - Gradius V on PS2 :eek: Awful lot of shovelware as would be predicted, but one of those shops that would be great fun just to browse around in the hopes of picking up a rarity or a bargain. Didn't have a few rarer PS2 games I've been keeping an eye out for, but it seems to do the pre-owned thing better than any of the others at the moment (barring the RAGE, naturally, which is a whole different ballpark). For a place I can browse for previous gem rarities on the cheap, it does the job! Didn't get to the DVD section, that's for next time

It was jammed in there today at 5:30. Probably the best stocked CEX I've been in (compared to the ones in Liverpool and Newcastle).

Picked up Nier (PS3) for 12euro and Resident Evil outbreak 2 (PS2) for 6euro. Not mega bargains but certainly competitively priced for Dublin.

Anyone else have the issue of going out to get money and returning to find the game you've fancied pilfered? Quite a few gems got pinched immediately.

What is the RAGE? Heard about it for the first this week, because they were having gigs for Record Store Day. Never got a chance to go, though.

Secondhand retro games, from Commodore to SNES to Dreamcast.

Visited CEX on Liffey Street this afternoon and I have to say I was impressed. Shelves are nice to browse, the games are organised well and they have a good range.

Furthermore and perhaps most importantly the prices for games did not feel extortionate at all. It really puts the likes of Game and Gamestop to shame, where all the games look second-hand because they are inexplicably allowed to remove factory seals off games marked as new. I'm much more down with a place like this.
