Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    1 week :D:D:D

My preload started but on my UPC 240mb it's going at between 200KB/sec and 3 or 4MB/sec

ah I don't suppose it matters a great deal at the moment but it is great to have the preload and not to be having to wait 8 hours (at present) to play the game if it was next week!

GTX970 arrived a few weeks ago and I got my 4K monitor today. Now to find the HD space...

slow hard-drive ? I'm getting 26.4 MB/S for current 28.0 MB/S for peak. Steam have rolled out plenty of capacity for this.

I still have not got my key yet. So cannot preload. I suppose that is what I get for using a cheap key site.

You probably won't get it till the day of release if you bought it from G2play or the likes.

    Niiiiiiice :D

I had planned on owning a 970 too now myself, got hit with some unexpected doctors bills though :( I've got 3 1080 monitors to power with it too...

Bought my key on some site called game dragons or something, probably a bit dodge, not too sure. Anyway, can I register that with steam? Or will I always have to play GTAV through a separate shortcut.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,429 ✭✭✭Kenjataimu

Just a reminder to everyone, as per the charter.

Discussion about where or how to get leaked/pirated copies of the game will be actioned with a ban and posts deleted.

Spare a thought for us country folk. Currently maxing out my line at a whopping 200 - 300 kbps. Almost 72 hours to download.

Depends on what the key that you bought is for. If it's a Steam key, you should be able to register it with Steam. You can also get a key for the Rockstar Warehouse which I imagine is a standalone version not requiring Steam.
Keep in mind, you can always add it to Steam later as a "non-Steam game".

Who says I'm not country* :pac: I was up in the parents place in Sligo over the weekend, they have 3G hotspot modem. It was like traveling back in time to see how the web used to be.

Got my key from Nuuvem (Rockstar key) for 29 euro. Left it preloading last night and all downloaded this morn :) . It was going less than 200kb/s last night, then jumped to 4.5mb/s so left it finish. Was worried social club would take a week to finish the download.

Noticed anthing off with Nuuvem? Thinking of going that route myself. You were able to register your key without any issues? Did you ned a VPN to buy or register, or both?

No discussion of illegal game copying including torrents

@mods It's not an illegal pirated or leaked copy, this is how CJS CDKeys are distributing the game. I preordered and paid for the game like everybody else.

    Is Nuuvem the cheapest then?

No, they haven't. Valve regularly make use of third party CDNs as their own capacity isn't enough for any release of note, GTAV being no exception.

As per Boards.ie wide rules, there is to be no discussion on how to bypass Geo Restrictions.

The torrent is legit, its how CJS are distributing the game due to its huge size.

Yeah, my version seemed to use the rockstar warehouse. I thought I was buying the steam one.

Cheapest I could find it, also includes the bonus. Nuuvem will have a notice on any products that has regional restrictions either does Rockstar restrict keys.

This is the exact same files from Rockstars preload, just download it from there if you buy the non-steam version as Rockstars downloader is pretty random speeds.

Set steam to manchester seems to give me around 16mb downloads.

I'd love a try before you buy option. Or a downloadable tool to tell me how my system specs fare out.
I'm not willing to drop another €60 on this game without knowing if my laptop will handle it.
My desktop is way too old for it. Came out during Vista's life cycle :D

    Looking fantastic though! :)

10.52GB so far downloaded since yesterday, will probably take me the full 7 days.

Has it been confirmed it can run 21:9 ?

    Have a look here mate

    http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/

Select the game (in this case GTA 5) and it will tell you how it will fare on your pc based on your specs.

Ah yes, thanks, have used that site before and it says i'm good specs wise.
Just something in the back of my mind cos of how bad the port of IV was at the start.

Actually just booted up GTA IV there on max specs and it ran pretty smooth, so it's making me think positive about V :D

Nuuvem works if you *Snip* works out around €27.50 when converted into Euro. Tempted to go this route myself...

As per the Games Forum Charter:

    13. Absolutely no discussion on how to evade restrictions on geographically locked content. This includes posts that describe the use of Proxies, VPNs and browser add-ons, along with questions like "How do I watch the US Netflix on my console?"

Absolutely no discussion on “Game Sharing” or “Account Sharing”.

Absolutely no discussion on purchasing products that require the use of a false address. This includes buying from different regions' digital marketplaces (e.g. Steam, PSN, Xbox Live) or anywhere that requires a fake address.

Looks like we will be playing 21:9, there is a pic of the graphics menu. It has an option for aspect ratio so it should be fine.

Any benefit getting this through Steam instead of through Rockstar? I assume you'll still be able to play with mates that are using the other one?

The main benefit I gather is the preload downloads quicker on steam. On another thread it is slow with rockstar that is with guys with fast internet.

If you put Rockstar key on Steam as a non-Steam game, would it work (for pre-load), or do you have to wait until after release?

Just got my code there now and it's activated on my account! Will begin the download this evening. Can't wait :D

Not 100% sure what you're asking, but you will only be able to use a Rockstar key on Rockstars Social Club, but you can preload it from there, so it would be ready for launch (internet speed depending). You can later add the game to steam as a non-Steam game, but thats esentially just sticking a shortcut in Steam.
