Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I dunno, but he wasn't as successful as GED. I mean, who else could win 5 trophies in a calendar year? other than pep

Andy Carroll is not worth £35m

That's one theme for the thread set!

Getting him in so we can sign Sow, how nice of them :pac:

    Jen Chang @JenChang88 14m
Lille has agreed a €8M deal for Brest striker Nolan Roux to replace the likely departing Moussa Sow

This guy really seems to think Sow is on the verge of leaving. Nolan Roux, we were rumoured to be looking at him during the summer if I'm not mistaken?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,456 ✭✭✭stick-dan

But isn't Sow at the African cup of nations???

    New thread at last!

Although I did prefer H&G's thread design to be honest. This one looks very similar to a lot of the other new threads out there...

He is but that didn't stop Papiss Cisse flying to Newcastle today to sign for them

Latest I have read is that it is BS, and he will not be moving till the summer.

For those asking about Sow, I only know he turned down Fenerbahce and wants to play in the Premier League. No idea yet if he'll be arriving.

Gerard Houiller: "Chris Foy is a Man Utd supporter. if he's refereeing them no need to guess who'll win match." (Canal+)

:pac: I guess that rules out a Houllier return to England.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,280 ✭✭✭Glico Man

25 posts in and we've had more talk of Rafa and GED than the King :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 820 ✭✭✭kop77

    @JenChang88Jen Chang
As for Sow's qualities, think he's hard to read. Only ever been prolific in 1 season & was inconsistent finisher before that. No sure thing.
@JenChang88Jen Chang Think Sow is a risky signing in that he's potentially boom or bust, but if fee's reasonably low then probably a decent gamble for a PL team

I dunno but we have a knack of getting the best out of strikers.......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,267 ✭✭✭opr

Listen he is neither premiership proven or Uruguayan so we won't be signing him.

The only position I'd like to see filled this window is a goalscorer and possibly a cheap/loan backup for Lucas.

All other signings can wait until the summer.

Jan window adds on crazy money (as we know)

I don't think we'd be forced to pay crazy money for anyone just because its the January window, I think we're perfectly capable of paying crazy money regardless of which window it is :pac:

    I suppose a meant a January "tax".

    "Desperado tax" so to speak.

    A bit off topic:

Put this on your Facebook and ask your UK-based friends to sign it. It won't take a minute.

Newcastle have signed Papiss Cisse from Freiburg for around £1om. Now, why aren't we signing him?? We need a striker and he's been quality for them for the past few seasons.

Obviously it's because we've lined up Cavani.

Why aren't we getting in there?? £10m?? That's great value!! What's Camolli doing?? Newcastle realise they're losing Ba for the ANC, probably realise they may lose him in the summer and they go straight out for another striker!!

well they do have 35m of our money from last jan to splash about:mad:

Is this Cisse fella any good?

I didn't see people clamouring for us to sign him up prior to today?

Are people just frustrated we haven't signed a striker yet, so now just want someone, anyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,585 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

Cisse is a risk, even at 10 million. And we really can't afford to take another risk on a striker.

For 10 million, I'd rather we take Defoe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,267 ✭✭✭opr

Al, I think people are more frustrated that Newcastle can go complete a deal for someone like this off the radar with little fuss which seems very good value that very few would have thought about buying. It is the kind of business many of us expected from Comolli.

We're all gonna shut up on February 1st when we're looking at 2 possibly 3 recruits that noone knew we were in for.

    Huh?

He's 3 years younger and has averaged better than a goal every 2 games for a pretty poor side, as well as being a better all round footballer.

Probably be on less wages too.

This whole secrecy regarding transfers is a myth, we're as transparent as any other club. Aside perhaps from Coates and maybe Bellamy to an extent, everyone else had been heavily linked for a good while prior to moving

Can't believe you didn't include the last Cisse we signed from the French league, where he had been banging them in, in that list

Well Newcastle seem to have a good record of doing this lately. If you listen to people who have watched him they all seem to be speaking highly of him. His goal scoring record in the Bundesliga is very good. At £7.5m it is relatively low risk.

I hate the January transfer window. You just know we'll all have to watch the SSN transfer gimp on the final night counting down the minutes as we hope beyond hope we end up with some quality but have our spirits crushed ultimately.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,299 ✭✭✭djPSB

Who would be the main man behind the Tiote, Cabaye, Cisse deals for Newcastle?

It's hardly Pardew that's scouting these players.
