Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

OP...in my opinion, meeting someone happens out of the blue and when you least expect it.

I speak from experience of being an early 20's guy who's been single for three years...did plenty of socialising, mixed with loads of people my age, met loads of girls and nothing happened.

Spent a few weeks on dating sites, no luck there either. Was really, really not enjoying being single...lonely old time it was. I got to the stage where I began seriously doubting myself and wondering what the fcuk was wrong with me..began to feel like I might never find someone compatible..but it was just circumstance I guess. Not the right situation, not in the right place at the right time to meet the right person...

But, out of the blue a couple of months ago..I hooked up with a girl in college, and we really, really got along together. Two peas from the same pod. Full blown relationship now.

Mad thing was, I honestly did not see it coming. Just be patient, and when it seems like you're running out of patience, be patient some more. It will happen!

And when it does happen, enjoy it :)

Only a few weeks? You have to give it more time than that. It took me months before I got a date.

I found it difficult I must admit. But then again the pickings are rather slim in my area.

Ok this thread is a long way in but no one seems to have asked:
Are men that are after sex not capable of wanting a relationship as well? I mean it'd be on tap then..... for first few months. Or after sleeping with him first night she gets embarassed complex turns into head wreck and drives him away? ??

I'm sure I can look forward to spending at least part of my thirties being single!

The point I'd like to make is that just because us youngsters tend to be a bit more casual and 'free' in life (i.e, not tied down by jobs/careers/children or whatever the circumstances might be), does not mean it's easy-peasy to find the right partner, and/or develop/maintain a decent relationship.

as for casual flings...pff, I had one ONS during my three year stint of single-ness and hated it. Not my cup of tea at all.

I was in the middle of the whole online thing when I met the girl in college..hence, I deleted my profile on OKC :) Would probably still be at it otherwise..

For anyone trying the online dating route, or considering trying it...there's a private forum here on boards, PM one of the mods and ask for permission to join. So many decent, sincere people in the same boat that are happy to help, give advice and hear your rants about being single!

... or someone that wants more than an easy ride over three years, it does kind of get to you a little.

I have tried dating sites and I'm not saying all guys are the same, but the guys I met were just looking for the one thing.

All the guys you met were looking for the one thing  . Well it's certainly top of the list :pac:. Have you considered that this fact is blurring any other potential there might be or did they simply sit down put it straight to you in plain English cuz I cant imagine even the most uncultured bloke doing that on a date.

Easy ride. What's an easy ride? You are both having good sex, why do you make it out as though he's got the upper hand on this or that he somehow owes you something because you are having sex?

My advice - If you find him sexually attractive and he only wants sex then have sex and see how it turns out. If you both think each other are sound then great! You had sex! And he's sound!

Come on for crying out loud!!! :D

Sex to me is personal and something I engage in when I have feelings for someone beyond a physical basis. I can't have sex with someone if I don't feel totally comfortable and confident in the relationship. That's just me.

Anyone ever get a bit peed off with being single? Maybe I'm just bored but when it seems impossible to meet someone nice or someone that wants more than an easy ride over three years, it does kind of get to you a little.

I have tried dating sites and I'm not saying all guys are the same, but the guys I met were just looking for the one thing. I socialize and put myself out there but in vain it seems. I have lovely friends and family so I'm grateful for that. Before you say anything, I am focusing on myself, trying to keep myself busy but can't help feeling a bit lonely sometimes. Anyone in the same boat?

I'm in the same boat. Sounds exact same as my situation!

I love easy sex, personally I don't do monogomy, I need the excitement of sex with new people.

I get a bit fed up being single at times, it'll be nice to share certain things with that other person. Also the comments and nagging from other people can get a bit annoying, although they no longer upset me.

I've always been quite independent and have a lot of interests, I rarely get bored (can't even remember the last time). I've got a large social circle as well and am quite happy when I have time for myself rather than running around people, which might be the "problem". Sometimes it scares me how comfortable I am in my own company. I've become quite sceptical about meeting people on nights out as well and don't have the guts to get into the online game. I'm trying to change my attitude about certain things a bit but I can't really plan falling in love or anything as such. We all know life doesn't work that way.

I'd say there are a lot of people in relationships/marriages who wouldn't mind being single again :D
