Jeez lads did ye not think IOR was poor against Clare? Made 2 or 3 shocking clearances one out over the sideline the other straight to a Clare player. That's basic stuff like. It was inevitable he was going to be replaced by SOK after that. Fair enough if there wasnt much competition but the fact that there is a top-class replacement it was a no-brainer.

Based on performances this year you would have to say Ian O'Regan is way ahead of Stephen O'keeffe. IOR gave another solid performance against Clare, the only error he made was hitting one ball out over the sideline but in the course of 70mins that's minor. Have to say I am surprised to see SOK in goal considering the errors he made in the 3 league games he played in this year but I guess he deserves another chance. Very harsh on IOR though as he has proved to be the best of the two this year. I will not be impressed if we return to the short puckout nonsense against offaly.

My recollection might be incorrect, but I can remember O'Neill having one match last year where he chipped over a couple of points and did well, and then was totally overlooked for the rest of the year? O'Brien probably had more chances and didn't take them.

If I had a choice of O'Sullivan and O'Neill, I'd pick O'Neill. He probably has less pace, but I think he's got more technical ability and a little more robust. He is an option as a freetaker also.

My recollection might be worse so don't worry about it. I don't remember that, was it a league game? I was down in Cork for the first one and I would surprised if that was the one. The next day was Kilkenny (I think, might have 2 and 3 mixed up) which I missed for some reason. It can't have been Tipp because we were hammered that day. I wasn't in Galway, it might have been Dublin but all I remember from that is O'Brien scoring 0-4 points.

He came on against Clare and scored a point. Dunno did he come on again after that, maybe that was it?

Based on what I've seen though, I wouldn't be starting him. Feel a bit harsh because he can hurl but at this level I'm not sure and certainly not the goal threat that the others could potentially be. Would love if he came on and made me eat my words tomorrow night of course.

Anyone sure of the ticket prices today. I'm in Dublin so very much considering hanging around here and spinning across to Tullamore.

Best of luck to Waterford this evening. Its going to be a hard one for this youthfull team against an Offaly side that put four goals a past Kilkenny. That's something I could never see Waterford doing. All this talk of Offaly being in division IB can be very misleading as Tipp found out against Limerick. The changing of the goal keeper and introducing a corner forward is telling me we do not have a settled fifteen. I hope it works out today because I could not see Michael Ryan lasting any longer if we are beaten.
We are seen as a team in transition and a scalp easy to take after our poor showing against Clare in most other counties. The only way to change that perception of course is to beat Offaly which is not going to be an easy task. Looking at our performance against Clare and Offaly's performance against Kilkenny you would have to say Offaly would have the bigger advantage here especially as the game is in Tullamore. Roll on 7 o'clock may the best team win and hopefully it will be a good game we need a good performance after our last game.

Congrats to the Waterford ladies winning the All Ireland U14B competition against Westmeath 4-10 to 0-11. Last 20 minutes they seemed to blitz Westmeath with a run of points to win it

O Keeffe fumbled it, seemed to hang up in the wind, Liam Lawlor picked it up, then tried to give a handpass across the large square which was intercepted. Poor goal to give away - Ryan wouldn't be happy with that!

The London Westmearh game was a preliminary qualifier, so London are out and Westmeath are through. Winners are going to Mullingar.

London had been previously beaten by Carlow, Westmeath knocked out of Leinster by Antrim.

Mahony on for Barron. I have yet to hear Brian O'Sullivan's name be mentioned.

4 points up but playing into a strong wind in the second half. All to do yet

Looks like Maurice has really stepped up to the plate tonight great to see as we need leaders in the forwards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,892 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Up by the famous 4 points. Nerve racking up here

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭Mountainlad

They just need to play better. Against The wind could be an advantage with the pace up front. And there's a chance that Offaly might hit more wides. They will be able to hit their big men from further away however.

Bottom line, we're 4 up, that's good enough if we play well in this half. We'll need a goal or two I think, and so we can't waste two chances and gift them one like the first half. That's a nine point swing.

Adamant on WLR Seamus should have had a penalty but ref gave a free out, seems he's doing fcuk all for us. Then Offaly go up other end and get a point. It's gonna be tight.

Yep, and the most meaningless tournament in international football. They could surely have shown it on RTE 1 at least.

It's a GAA decision not to allow the game to be broadcast, so it's not RTE's fault.
