Anyone know of any bank ATM in New York or anywhere in US, that don't charge fees to withdraw cash?
I can confirm I was not charged by TD Bank and someone else said that Capital One Bank didn't charge them.

The one I tested was in a TD Bank branch but that may not make a difference.

Has anyone been successful in using the Revolut card for amazon video purchases?
I keep getting the ''credit card not from uk bank'' message when I try to purchase things normally. :(

I tried sending myself some amazon credit/an amazon gift card but that doesn't work either.

I used Revolut in Asia when travelling for a month over the New Year. This was before any charges and while the card wouldn't work in more than half of all ATMs, it was a big money saver.

One problem though - I had a couple of (Asian) transactions which were partially refunded to me but the credit never appeared in my Revolut account. It's been over 2 months now and they are still investigating!

I have had documented proof that the finds were refunded by the merchant so I'm sure the fault lies with Revolut.

The support has been really poor, both on email and through the app.

In my case the amounts are relatively small but it does make me wary of their systems, especially when it's so difficult to get a sensible reply from them.

Dunno, I got a refund from Amazon in sterling this week and it only took a day to go back on my revolut card.

  • Registered Users Posts: 37 macmansion

Yes, to be fair I should say that one further refund (from the same merchant) was credited by Revolut in a day or two.

    But the inconsistency is worrying.

I used my Revolut card to buy stuff off amazon.com earlier as I'm going over to my brothers in the US next week. I got an email confirmation from amazon about the order but didnt get an app notification that money was deducted from my Revolut account......has anyone used the card on amazon.com?

Amazon don't actually charge your card until your order is ready for dispatch.

Good news. I can answer my own question from earlier.
Added my new revolut details as my primary credit card and I was finally able to purchase some items on amazon video with my amazon credit/amazon gift card. ;)

Slight hiccup that I didn't forsee is that my purchases seem to be stream only. I thought for sure they would provide us with a download to pc option? :(
I was certainly expecting a HARD COPY of the video for my money, lol.

Has anyone used the physical card in Las Vegas? Is so, did you encounter any issues in standard ATMs or casino ATMs? Going in a few weeks and plan to load up the card beforehand, unless warned not to!

Used in Vegas on two separate trips. No issues anywhere.

One thing I found out too late on a recent US trip is that if you use your Revolut card to pay for a restaurant meal + tip you'll have doubled pending transactions on your card for up to 10 days - so you won't necessarily have access to all your money during your trip and might need to top up more often than you thought.

This is because when a restaurant first gives you the bill in the US and you hand over your card they pre-authorise the price of the meal off your card. Then they give you a receipt, you write the tip in with the new total, and at the end of the night/weekend they'll process this second transaction for the meal + tip total. They'll eventually reverse/cancel the first (meal only) pre-authorisation but that might take up to 10 days and in the meantime you won't have access to your full balance because there are two pending transactions on your card: one for the meal, the other for the meal + tip (explained to me by Revolut support)

I think a workaround solution would be to pay for the meal itself with Revolut and simply leave a cash tip.

This is a worry as i'm heading to Florida next week and was depending on this card as the way to go as i've already had this happen last week when changing my flight seats with delta they took out $118 and then again the next day and the first transaction is now pending with $118 charge gone from the balance and a ten day wait to be refunded. If this happens a lot of the time i'll have loads tied up waiting for ten days all the time.I think the way to go is probably withdraw from an atm as i go and suck up the 2% withdrawl fee

But there's a $700 monthly withdrawal limit(then charges kick in) which is annoying. I'm off to the states next week so I'm gonna take out dollars over there from a TD bank ATM (no fees) and then use card for buying clothes etc.

Capital One Bank did not charge me for ATM withdrawal fees. TD Bank and Capital One have multiple branches in NYC. Go on to the website for ATM locations.

Topped up successfully using my KBC debit card for the first time. No changes to my address in the app. It just worked. Happy days after nearly two months I can start using my Revolut app again. Good riddance Ulster bank.

Is there any reason to have money withdrawn using this?.

I had $5(€4.60ish) taken from my account in the past day or two.

I used this card once to buy from the Argentinian Xbox store.

The conversion doesn't make sense as I seemed to be deducted US dollars.

There's a chance the charge is unrelated or related to Xbox but just wondering did it happen to anyone else.
The payment doesn't list any name as of now, just the conversion.

Well what currency did the Argentinian store charge?

I bought a game from the xbox store in Argentina also, probably the same one as you. At the time I only had sterling loaded on my card so that's what was withdrawn. The cost was $699 Argentinian Pesos and it was converted to 31.85 pounds sterling. I've had no other charges come out relating to this.

Been using this for almost a year now and have encountered my first serious problem. Topped up by 500 euro but it didn't go through but showed as pending with bank. Contacted revolut and they said it would get returned as it didn't go through. 5 days later it shows as deducted successfully from my bank.

Informed revolut cs again and they said they would fix it after providing info and bank statement and would be returned in 3 to 5 days, and now it's a week later and still have nothing. Their cs said they would escalate it and get back to me:(. Very disappointing as I topped up for my holiday but by time it's sorted I will be home. Anyone have any similar issue before?

Yep this happened me before, had to keep chasing them. Was eventually told:

"I'm very sorry about this, it seems that there was an error on our service providers side in reagrds to handling this top-up, the money should be correctly assigned to your account by the end of tomorrow, but hopefully by the end of today.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Regards,

Hi I am very wary of them now, this is my first problem with them and after them promising to fix it within 3 to 5 days its now 7 days later and they have ignored me completely on chat for last 2 days. 510 euro for my holiday currently has vanished, will be messy dealing with my bank to fix this. Be careful trusting this company with your money!

I am well aware of that but this could of been fixed easily by customer support if they had a functioning one. Instead I have to ring my bank from abroad
    wasting time and money.

Lack of decent CS is a pain these days, everyone struggles with it. That's the cost of cheap service - it is great as long as everything goes ok.

Anyone have experience of getting a refund paid onto their Revolut card? I bought stuff on eBay, paid by Paypal, but returned it as it was faulty. The seller is refunding the money via Paypal, and Paypal have said they will refund it to the card used in making the payment (my Revolut card).

I am hoping that it will just appear back in my Revolut account in the next few days (refund processed by Paypal today), but was curious if others had been down this road before....

Yeah it'll just appear! Quite quickly too in my experience.

From personal experience trying to get chargeback from Irish card providers is difficult.
    Alot of red tape .

American Express chargeback is great though.
