Well deserved result, very tough run of games today but they put in a massive defensive shift in each game.

What's the route from here to the 7s world series (if there is one)? Might there be a few spaces opening there with the proposed Eng/Scot/Wales merger into a GB team?

There's one spot going each year to replace the the team who's relegated from the world series. Who gets promoted is decided by the world series qualifier tournament, which is held at the Hong Kong Sevens. Spain won the qualifier this year and are now on the world series next year. Ireland qualified for next year's qualifier today.

Tullamore originally. Just like Westmeath, I think that's in a more easterly province.

    BWUHAHAHAHAHAHA:D

So good you said it twice.

I see your presumed and I raise you months of stirring the interprovincial pot.

Jordan Conroy is a dangerous man

Jordan Conroy is a dangerous man
He has to play winger for Connacht on a regular basis indeed

    26 0 ht against belgium
    great team it is!

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,963 ✭✭✭connachta

Yes France was beaten and Russia too, good surprises
Meaning except a major collapse we're top of the pool, and might get rid of 1 of our 2 opponents as soon as QF (Russia or Spain)

but even with a loss, France (or Portugal) would have to overturn a huge point difference to win the pool. Time for rotation, starting Roche, Carr, Leavy etc

Ireland made France look very average.

Look like strong contenders to win the thing

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,963 ✭✭✭connachta

    26 0 against France
don't know what's the point difference with Russia overall over the 4 tournaments
would matter a lot if we lose against them in final tomorrow...

    Seeing Russia beat Wales
    Seeing Portugal beat France
Seven's is a lot of fun

Ireland best of all groups, vs the worst qualified, England in QF.

Young and weak team to face, but the home team... tricky

Ireland have successfully come through knockout games against better host teams already (France and particularly Russia)

I know, but the affluence at Sandy Park is better.
Not impressive at 11 AM though + the Irish exiles in the crowd could balence it a bit

there was a fair bit of player rotation today, last year at Monaco for the olympic qualification tournament we were flying on the Saturday and then lost on the Sunday in the QF. so if we lose tomorrow it won't be because the players are exhausted

I thought Ireland weren't as impressive as yesterday, passing wasn't as crisp with too many passes at head height or not in front of the receiver. Clinical at the end however.

I've said a morning game against the home team was tricky.
wasn't confident until the 3rd try.
Russia Ireland is the decider to win the Europe trophy,
too bad it's not in the final, as we would have won already (+55 points difference)
