Depressing spending that kind of money!
For bloody sure. I am almost certain that 500 litres was "only" ~€350 18 months ago.

Was just thinking earlier that I prob need to order some shortly too before I'm left dry for a weekend and was hoping there would be a price comparison thread on here somewhere.:D

    Mild?

Would need to stick around 25 degrees to stop my missus from blazing through a ton of oil.

    womenfolk are always cold,

my gf had the electric blanket on from August and we have a fire on pretty much every night.

i remember when we first started going out there was 4 other girls in the house, i couldn't figure out how we went through so much gas. Turns out the heating was on for 8 hours a day.

no matter how i tried to explain that this was wayyyyyyyyyy to much they wouldn't listen

Here's a useful site, it lists a few places.

    http://www.cheapestoil.ie/heating-oil-prices/donegal.aspx

The worst thing is, it has a trend graph of the prices of oil... a few years ago it was less than half the price :(

A friend was telling me that it is legal to bring heating oil out from the north, provided you're bringing less that 100 litres.

    Is this true?

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,143 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

I think he might be right, I have heard the garage on the border between Lifford and Strabane informs you that they will tell Customs if you buy any more than 100 litres.

They don't inform customs, customs make them keep a record of anyone buying over 100ltrs, the shop advises you to ring up 99 ltrs put the pump back and then start again. they will tally it up when done.

also you fill in the bit if over 100 ltrs, they dont check your name or reg number.

i don't know if it is legal to bring over 100 ltrs but the customs didn't bother me one day when i was stopped with 100.

    edit:
inishowen oil co price matched , so i went with them for €440.

Is there much difference in quality or are they all selling pretty much the same thing?

Rang around this morning to get a top-up before winter really kicks in.

    All for 500 ltrs:

    Tinneys €430
Coll Oil (used to be Mountain Top Oil?) €430
    A&N (Gallaghers Oil apparently?) €425
    Swilly Fuels €422
    Coyle Fuels €420

Nice to see a downward movement in prices for a change:rolleyes:

    You're making no sense.

Maybe you could just clarify why you think its not nice to see oil prices dropping

Think he means he's sickened he didn't wait till now to save 20 quid instead of getting it at the start of the month.

Wants other people to feel his pain
