Hi girls if its any consolation, I am 15 weeks but really suffered morning sickness in week 12 & 13. I had been sick all along but that was the worst period. When I woke up the morning I was on week 14 I literally felt back to my old self so hang in there and it'll pass. I know when I felt sick I didn't want to hear it but hopefully it'll pass for you both as well. Yesterday and today I wasn't feeling great but I am blaming the heat and don't mind when it is only a day here and there. Best of luck to you in getting past the morning sickness!!
Aw that is really great to hear hopefully it lifts that edaily for us :-)

How's everyone keepin?hope everyone's sickness is abating and you'll get your energy levels back somewhat normal!I'm 17 weeks now . While I notice I have more energy I feel wrecked if I overdo it!going from one extreme to the other is so annoying!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,787 ✭✭✭Lashes28

Yep I'm still super super tired and I'm thinking it's a mixture of heat, being incredibly busy at work, extra weight being lugged around and of course growing another person!! I have my gender scan booked for two weeks time when I'll be 19 weeks and can't wait until then so I can start picking up bits in the colour!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

I wish I could embrace this extra weight but it's annoying me cos I have no clothes that fit properly on me,I'm putting off wearin maternity clothes as I don't gave a proper bump yet, still just look like I ate too much lol!!
The heat is a killer especially at nighttime,I'm thankful I'm not heavily pregnant tho ,that would be pure torture!

Hi everyone, joining up here. I'm due at the end of January-can't believe it! Still have the nausea/vomiting but other than that it isn't too bad so far (apart from the two hour naps!). I hit 14 weeks this week, over a third of the way there?! Time is going so fast

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 75 ✭✭Amanda7326

    Hi ladies,

Going to join you on here :-)

Am due 6th of Jan so just 17 weeks today

Question for you ladies - have any of you felt any movement yet and if so when did it start?

  • Registered Users Posts: 926 ✭✭✭fall

Hi all, back after my holidays. Just over 17 weeks now and felt flutters since last week. Had pick and mix yesterday and felt loads of movement. Sugar must have made the baby hyper. All my sickness gone since week 13 so second trimester being very kind so far. Long may it last! Hope everyone is well.

No, I feel nothing :-( just adding to my permanent paranoia that something is wrong!

In fairness on my last baby I didn't feel anything til well after 20 weeks. It was down to placement of placenta apparently. Anyway it's awful when people say, oh 17 weeks you must be feeling lots of kicks! Hopefully little baba will make his/her presence known soon!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

I'm 18 weeks tomorrow and think I've been feeling wee flutters but I'm not so sure it's only maybe twice . id need to be concentrating to really feel them tho!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,787 ✭✭✭Lashes28

Well I don't feel the kicks until I'm lying or sitting down.. but it's nearly every time I sit down or ly down at this stage..I love it!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

Yeh I was sitting down yesterday thinkin is that what I think it is,I'm sur it was . I felt it again today but I was in the car and the dog was lying on my lap so I'm not sur!I can't wait to feel it all the time!

  • Registered Users Posts: 926 ✭✭✭fall

If you drink some ice cold water and lie on your left side it is supposedly one of the best positions to feel movement. I feel like the weeks are flying by. Can't believe in two and a half weeks I will be half way there!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

Same here . never thought I'd get pregnant and now I am I can't believe how fast it's going by!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

I just said that the other day . I'm usually a last minute Nellie . better not do that this year or nobody will be getting anything!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 926 ✭✭✭fall

Halloween is in there too.has anyone worked out when they will start their maternity leave? I can't wait to be at home with the fire on and the tree up. Can't believe I am thinking this way in July, nuts!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

Lol!I remember what it was like to get a Christmas off in retail lashes, like winning the lotto.

  • Registered Users Posts: 273 ✭✭Nicman

Lads, are any of you who are further along than 14 weeks still sick/ exhausted? I had a few reasonably good days towards the end of last week and thought the sickness was lifting but it's back as bad as ever this week. I'm 14 and a bit weeks.
Anybody else still experiencing this and if so how are you managing to eat healthily and get some decent nutrients in when most food (unless it's beige) turns your stomach? :-( I was looking at buying a book on healthy pregnancy recipes etc but at this rate 1) I won't be able to even look at most of the recipes without vomiting in my mouth and 2) I'll be too exhausted to cook them!! :-P

  • Registered Users Posts: 926 ✭✭✭fall

You might feel a difference around week 16 Nicman, I didn't eat great gor the first trimester because I was so sick but I am back pretty much to normal now. I get a bit of heartburn but it's a walk in the park compared to the sickness. Hope it lifts for you. If not talk to your GP, there is medication available now to tackle it. It's been used for years in America and Canada and the maternity hospitals here are starting to prescribe it.
I love how much more I am enjoying this pregnancy. I was terrified the first time around. Every twinge sent me into a panic. I feel so lucky to be pregnant again :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,787 ✭✭✭Lashes28

Oh bobskii it's rarer than winning the lotto, and I don't care how big and uncomfortable I will be I'm gonna enjoy every minute of it!!

Any more kicks for you guys?
Thankfully the nausea has worn off most of the time but it still crops up every now and then,I don't envy ya

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

Yeh I hear ya . after I had my son I used to get Christmas eve off which was great but now I'm off all over Christmas but he's grown up so it's not the same . so I'm gonna stuck with my job for as long as possible cos the holidays are great!!

Hi Ladies, Due with first baba on 6th (or 8th according to my own dates!) of Jan!!! We are so excited cant wait for the little bundle to come! Been pretty lucky, no sickness just tiredness and since second trimester started migraines have got more frequent but iv found a little remedy as paracetmol doesn't help - a small (150ml-200ml) glass of coke works wonders! over the last few days been noticing a sharp pain when i stand up from sitting but im trying not to worry too much as it goes away. Think i felt a "flutter" sunday and monday morning but nothing since and i am not even sure if it was - dying to feel the baba move now! Have a foetal well being scan in 4 weeks and we are considering finding out baba's gender - any thoughts? have any of you found out?

I'm so jealous of you guys. I'm 14 weeks and I'm still throwing up. Last night at about three am, dry heaving this afternoon. Currently sitting up praying that my stomach settles again and I don't throw up my dinner :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 926 ✭✭✭fall

Fingers crossed it passes soon mirror wall, it's tough going. Welcome Belinda, I had a similar pain about two weeks ago and then a few days later my bump really popped so hopefully it's just growing pains.

  • Registered Users Posts: 50 ✭✭BelindaL

Sometimes you could worry youself sick with thinking about things too much!!!! And on that note..... my tummy/bump was quite firm last week and the last few days its much less / squishy.... nothing to worry about? ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

Nope I don't think so . mine was like that too..its a bit squishy now but it will be rock hard In the morning no doubt!

  • Registered Users Posts: 926 ✭✭✭fall

My bump gets so much bigger in the evening. I look huge and then I wake up and it's grand again. Bought some maternity clothes today in h and m sale. Got a lovely jumper reduced from €25 to €7. Can't wait to wear it. Feeling lots of flutters. Love it.

Congrats :-) We're considering finding out as well, we're ebbing more on the side of finding out than not. It's our first. People have asked and we've said we don't know if we will but then they feel the need to tell you how wrong it would be to find out. Do you find that people seem to be shoving opinions on you since you told them like never before?! It's making us doubt a little whether we should find out but then we feel there'll be such a surprise and overjoy anyway when the baby comes that it shouldn't take from it if we know?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

I think it's a personal decision . If you want to find out go for it,don't tell people if u don't want it's really nobody else business!my husband doesn't want to know and I'm not pushed either way so I won't bother but I don't think there's anything wrong with finding out, your baby your business!
People have an opinion on everything when your pregnant I'm slowly finding that out!
I got a few bits in the new look sale must have alook at h and my I find their clothes reasonably priced anyway!

Yeah, I find people have an opinion on everything right now and someone actually touched my belly last week even though I'm not showing yet - I'm just at the "looking like I ate too much" stage so it's like someone touching your fat belly! They're gas. New look have some great essentials on sale like vests and jeans was just looking there. A friend found ASOS great for her maternity wear as well - worth a go. I'm seeing stuff online but not sure if I should buy or not although they're great value. My sis was saying don't buy til you need it cause you won't know your shape etc... will it even matter by then - a vest is a vest! haha :-) I can't wait to be in maternity clothes!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

The first time someone touches my belly ill freak. I hate anyone touching me!I let my husband touch my belly this morning to see if he could feel the baby and even that's usually a no no . belly is off bounds to touch lol!
If one more person says A . it must be a shock to the system getting pregnant after all these years.
    B. You know your gonna have ta get rid of them dogs ya can't have them around babies.
I've been wearing a few maternity bits alike ready . feel like a fraud tho cos like you I'm still in the look like I've put on a few pounds gang!

OMG! The amount of people who said "what are you going to do with the dogs now?" haha! As if we hadn't considered this when we got dogs? 'Two legs good, four legs bad' ;-) God mind your business.... And when we told people we're expecting some of them were like "really? already?" (we got married early this year), I had to remind them that we're far from spring chickens with one of us turning 40 this year! It actually turned me off telling people after that :-( My boss had a meltdown!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

Aren't they unreal! We've been married (and trying ) 6 years do no its not a shock to our systems, well it is that it finally happened but a baby isn't a shock we always knew we wanted one, maybe two ;)
As for the dogs,we got the dogs know in we'd have kids, the dogs are part of the family and I've no intention of doing anything different just cos there's a baby on the way . people are mad!

Thats so funny Nicman, we got married in feb this year and eveyone who knows us well knew it wudnt be long before we tried. We adore kids and are at that stage were we are ready to have a family, when we told hubbys parents they were surprised, his mum kept saying I thought you would wait another couple of years etc! And we were anxious telling them cuz she usually goes hyper excited touchy feely about things and im not able for that but there u go ppl's reactions have surprised us since the news broke!

  • Registered Users Posts: 50 ✭✭BelindaL

Nicman, ppl are telling us not to find out too, keep the surprise etc etc and its me making me doubt what to do even though I was the one adamant that we find out and hubby needed convincing. Have scan in few weeks so will have to decide by then I guess. Do ppl regret finding out??? Is it easier to push in labour when ur pushing for a surprise??

Wow - that was exactly his parents reaction and we thought they'd be just overjoyed as he's the only son and all that. Yeah it was a strange one. We got married in Feb too :-) Due to several medical issues I thought i'd never get pregnant and most of them know that so I was surprised at their reaction and I guess a little disappointed but of course they're delighted for us. I suppose people ahve a timeline in their head and if 2 more years passed with nothing they'd be the other way - asking when!

We're the exact same - I wanted to find out he didn't mind but now he does too but we're starting to doubt it and will have to make our minds up soon. I don't know how you could regret finding out though. All my friends who have kids, although they all say the surprise was lovely, the second the baby came out they moved all the beige/lemon clothes and bed linen aside that they searched hard for and couldn't wait to get the baby into blue/ pink stuff. It seems practical to me and then with the names as well - it's hard enough pick for one sex let alone two. But in saying that we don't know what to do now! :-) It's a great "problem" to have in our happy lives isn't it ;-)

Nicman, its crazy thou, they wouldnt call in and see the last scan pics for days and his dad wont harsly discuss it at all saying "there is a long way to go yet" , hubby said hes just nervous but this pisses me of cuz I feel that we are nervous and worried enough for everyone and we just need ppl to be excited and distract us from the nerves!!!!!! It frustrates me hugely because once the baba comea im sure ill nvr see the back of them!!! But thats ppl I guess! Congrats on getting pregnant, ye must be over the moon. I work in a job where aits all female staff and i hear so many having so much trouble ttc that I was petrified I woulsnt either but thankfully once we learned the cycles etc it was easy done etc ;-)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

Best just take people with a pinch of salt and enjoy your time being pregnant! That's my plan for the next 22 weeks!

  • Registered Users Posts: 926 ✭✭✭fall

Think it's an old fashioned thing. My mam told me she often didn't tell her family until she was six months pregnant! She even said to me she prefers not to know until later because she worries too much. She had three miscarriages and it seemed to have been very common years ago , she still managed to have six of us though.
I learnt on my last pregnancy to tune everyone elses opinion out. I got sick of the you are so big, you are so small blah blah brigade.

Ah lads can Ye imagine the scandal when I told people, just split up with the dad and moved back home,I'm sure I'm still the subject of their gossip!!
I just think, esp with extended family and people I know, will they be putting food in my child's mouth? Nope.helping with night feeds? Nope. Clothing him/her? Nope, that will be all me, so their opinions don't matter!!

I'm gonna find out the sex this time, as for pushing easier if it's a surprise, you just think of nothing but the pain and the urge to push, the thoughts of baby never even mind the sex comes into play until after the hard work is done!!

Fair play stop I can't imagine them on my end. Honestly some family members would rather you stay with a guy regardless of how bad he is for your family than have the scandal around it about splitting up etc. Your child will thank you for it in years to come ;-)
