Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Your talking like the regions outside England are being funded by England and as such should be happy with having a TV station at all. They are part of the BBC the same as the main channels.

To draw a comparison you may as well say Connact fans can have no expectations when it comes to rugby as Munster, Leinster and Ulster are responsible for most of the provincial revenue for the IRFU. They should be happy to have a team at all never mind a decent one.

Is that what your getting at ?

Nope, the poster was insinuating that some Scots and Welsh they knew were miffed that the "English Broadcasting Corporation" was biased when covering Scottish and Welsh games.
I said their games' coverage is nothing like an "English Broadcasting Corporation" effort as there is no bias against them. Nothing to be "miffed" about at all. The alternative being BBC stations funded only by the licence-fee proportionate to their regions.

    That's why he's there.

Well I lived in England for 30 odd years (Due to work)
Married a welsh woman. I have many British friends and even the English ones would find the quote, regarding the coverage of Scotland and Wales 'no bias against them' laughable.

two old guys waffling amongst themselves

Fire away with an example or two then. Its all very well in making a claim like that, but you'd really have to back it up.

If you want phone numbers you can have them.
Just ask any Welshman or Scot. Any.
Justin you obviously think, for some reason, that I'm lying.

    I do not lie.
Just passing on what I know.

Relax. I see the same coverage too and it definitely isn't tilted. Would you complain about Woody's contributions when ireland play?

Generally I watch Ireland on RTE and England and Wales on BBC. For Scotland I'll check who's commentating.

I personally don't think BBC are particularly biased, but they give England far more airtime than other countries. It's understandable to a point, as most watching will be English, but you have to feel for the British licence payers, not all of whom are English obviously.

A gent who not only commentates fairly and with knowledge but actually does some research into how to pronounce a player's name.

He gets Donnacha right, kudos for that.

He also habitually adopts a French accent when name-checking French players. That's wholly unnecessary, primarily because he's Welsh.

Having a quiet night in. Struggling to find anything to listen to on the wireless. When I noticed BBC 5 live had a Rugby programme on.
It was looking back on last weekends games.
The breakdown on the time taken talking about teams was
    England 25 mins
    Scotland 9mins
    Wales 1 min
    Ireland less than 1min
    Danny Ciprani 2 mins
    BBC in name only

Scotland got the best deal out of that. 1/10 of the population of England, and over 1/3 of the airtime. And, sure, what is there to say about Wales that hasn't been said already. And Danny Cipriani was talked about as the example of not to hype up a player like Farrell has been.....not because he is in fact a country!!

And last time I looked it wasn't B&IBC

And Steffano2002.....I'd say the feeling is probably mutual! (but just realised you were probably being ironic or something.....or maybe not!) Go Engerland....

All non Ireland games on BBC

For Ireland games i watch the build up on BBC, the commentary on RTE (only if its Ryle Nugent. Yes, i like Ryle Nugent). If Ireland are playing well i watch H/T, F/T on BBC, if they play poorly i watch on RTE. If Ireland lose similarly to the Wales game, i would watch on BBC.

Basically it depends on what mood im in :pac:

I'm not being ironic. I can't stand the english as a whole! I'm French, what do you expect? You hate us. We hate you. It's been going on for centuries! At this stage it's probably coded in our DNA... :D
