From your experience lads, local butchers has started doing "Protein packs"
    50 quid gets you

    20 chicken fillets
    1kg Turkey Steak
    1kg steak mince
    20 medium eggs

    good value?

€50 seems a little steep. My local butcher does 10 chicken fillets for €10.

Even at €1.50 per chicken fillet (they'd want to be mahoosive buying in that bulk) that leaves €20 for the rest. €3 for the eggs means the steak and turkey mince are €17. Steep imho.

Sounds expensive. I can get the same deal on chicken as mentioned above, a tenner for ten. Four sirloin steaks were also a tenner recently and eggs are only a few euro for 18 or 20 in the same butchers. Not sure what turkey costs but not enough to make up 50 euro anyway!

I think you'd get that for about €35 elsewhere if you shop around a bit.

    Where are you based?

Depends on the weight of the fillets.
I dont know why people care so much about the number of fillets rather than the weight.
If say butchers make a killing selling off their smallest fillets 10 for €10

Work out what it would cost for the same else where based on €/kg

Doesn't sound great. A quid a fillet is what I'd pay unless they're proper breasts which you'll get 4 for a fiver with a butcher if you know his first name. 20 eggs is 3 quid. Kilo of steak mince is under a tenner. That's 33 so that would have to be amazing turkey to cover it. :pac:

Do yourself a favour, get to know a butcher well. You'll get a chicken fillet that'll do a meal for a quid, you'll get a fistful of steak for a couple of quid, proper chops for a quid. etc. If you're bothered being disciplined never buy packaged/frozen meat.

there can be huge disparity in the quality between different butchers.

one could be selling Irish chicken fillets, the other those Dutch fillets pump full of water and god knows what else.
one could be selling free-range eggs, the other egg from caged hens.
the % fat content of mince will vary greatly too.

so without all the finer details of both offers it's impossible to make a fair comparison.

Just one thing buy the chicken on weight not qty.
I get 5kg trays and they have just 20 breasts in there.

    This.

Most packs online have chicken fillets at about 120g a go. But some are 170ish.

Best to check out the weight of the chicken in the pack.
