Just saw X2!! quality film from opening sequence to closing credits! I don't know how many fans of the xmen comics are going to react tho, cos the film kinda strays off the beaten path, especially at the end where :
jean grey dies. but you see the image of a bird at the end under the water...

it didn't happen that way in the comics but i sure as hell didn't know it was gonna happen!!! The trailers give absolutely nothing away you'll be glad to hear :) all the characters are given time to develop this time round, as opposed to the last movie, wolverine and the xmen ;) fans will be glad to hear that he still rocks tho :ninja:

Defo one to go see :D

have tickets for friday night, not a big fan of the comics or anything i just really wanna see it for some reason, watched the original on sunday (have a decent enough rip of it) to get me back up to speed, patrick stewart and ian mckellan in it sure its bound to be good :)

Sounds good, is it much of an imrovement on the original, Q_Ball? While the first one was good, there was defeinitely something lacking, imho.

I'll be seeing it either way tho.

then i really don't think you're going to like this. a friend of mine was telling me about the part lady deathstryke plays in the comics but in the film its different (in my most non-spoiler and cryptic tongue :p ) I really don't think you'll like the ending neither :( but sure go and check it out. (if you're a big fan of the comics you'll pretty much cop the end near the begining but again you'll see what i mean  )

I thought the first one was brilliant so i don't know what was lacking (not a big fan of the comics in case you haven't guessed, but i love ()'s  ). Like i said tho there's more character development and altho wolverine :ninja: isn't as emphasised as much as the last one he is a big factor in the story (yet again, saying nothing, you can all pm me :p ) there's a lot more use of powers by all the x men (and a little glimpse of another mutant in the school who shall remain nameless ;) )

Damn, I nearly looked at the spoiler!

Going to go see this at the weekend, and I watched the original again on DVD yesterday. I'm still very pleased with it, and I expect nothing less with the new film, but I mainly grew up with the Cartoon series rather than the comics, so perhaps I'm a little biased in that sense.

Also, I remember a quip made by Jackman when he said he was researching the role he got completely terrified and nearly quit the film when he found out that there were a load of bikers and suchlike with tattoos of Wolverine, and that if he did a bad job they'd come and "Sort him out!" :D

Wolverine is not Wolverine without the yellow jumpsuit!!
Why does everything have to be black PVC these days? Where's the fun in that??
Having said that I will go see it, out of curiosity only cos the first one was bad as far as I remember so im not expecting much.

ah crap, why did i read that spoiler:(

i might go see it tonight, or maybe sunday when the cinema's gonna be less crowded

ah crap, why did i read that spoiler

Im just thinking the same thing...its weird...Im going to see the film in a couple of hours time and yet I feel this strange compulsion to read spoilers....no matter what thread they are on! I've ruined soooo many films for myself that way!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 278 ✭✭aine

btw...im still REALLY looking foward to seeing it though! :D

Owning a pair of black PVC pants, I can tell you there's a lot of fun indeed in it. ;)

I noticed that too!! some of my friends were oblivious though....there were a couple of the kids in the school actually that will feature in future projects!

I thought the film itself was outstanding! It was less action and far more thoughtful than the first one...well, as thoughtful as super hero films can be! Im already looking foward to the next one....which btw is written!!! yippee!!

aye, good show! very entertaining stuff altogether.

Nightcrawler was cool... could have watched him zap about for the full two hours.

...I just wish they could make these films faster, like one every couple of months...

mmmmm.... overkill. Still, t'would beat waiting.

Seen the cool trailer on MTV today. I think thats Shadowcat that falls through her bed, and the part where Collossus turns metally looks schway!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,586 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

    Brilliant!

I came out of the cinema grinning from ear to ear, utterly brilliant film. Nightcrawler is fantasically realised - make sure you're not late for the start of the film, it's unmissable. It's one of the many jaw-dropping action scenes in the film.
Did Collosus have an american accent, or am I going mad? And did anybody else notice Dr. Hank McCoy on the TV in the bar? :)

    Roll on the inevitable X3!

  • Registered Users Posts: 483 ✭✭banbutcher

i dont know how to do spoilers so: yes to what you were sayin NekkidBibleMan, oh and my god the film rocks!! is dofinety worth a second and imho a 3rd time!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,025 ✭✭✭yellum

I'll see this film a second time in the cinema, its that good. I rarely go to the cinema to watch films a second time. Everything was great about it. Massive improvement over the first one. Great ending too although it was on the cards.

It was darker than the first movie. Lady Deathstrike was cool. Magneto rocked again. Some of the kids will feature in the next movies I guess or some franchises and I look forward to that.

I didn't think yer man had an American accent at all. Seemed german to me. Nightcrawler rocked and his scars were way way cool.

Best movie of its type I've seen in a long while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,065 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

still havnt seen it but.....whats up with wolverines "styled hair" sux...shjould be messy ! AND he should be wearing the mask thingy...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

Spot on Yellum. Enjoyed this film a lot. Definitely better than I thought it would be.
Isn't Collosus/Peter/Piotr Russian, not German? Didn't sound American to me, but he didn't speak much.

Nightcrawler was brilliant. First scene he's in was absolutely brilliant. Much better than the first film too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,599 ✭✭✭LizardKing

I loved the cartoon as a kid and thought X1 was ok however ....

I saw X2 last nite and to be honest thought it was crap ... I did not like it at all ... it started well with nightcrawler in the white house but I thought it went downhill from there... It was soooo obvious at the end that there'll be an X3 in the not too distant future ......

I expected it to be better

I'm inclined to agree with lizard king; I came away feeling disapointed (Although that could be due to all the effing hype). Personally I loved the first one and was expecting so much from this but the whole thing seemed to be just a series (of really cool and well made in all fairness) action scenes just strung together haphazardly.
The character development is a bit erratic with lots of muties coming out with ligns at odds with their established characters (established that is in the first film) e.g Storm in the church etc.
Wolverine is still the dogs nads though.

I'll probably go see this again though as I was pretty tired when I went to see it and I might be going a little hard on it.

Spoilers (kind of) follow : Magnetos escape is really REALLY cool! as is the first scene with nightcrawler (mentioned in previous posts)
oh and yes collossus did have an American accent and I did see beast on the telly that time too. oh and the ending was good although as someone said (sorry I cant remember who) you probably will cop it pretty soon if you are familiar with the comics.

I coped on watching yer' one being interviewed by Jonethan Ross last friday (
ROSS: do you know what happins to your character in the next film? ey? ey? ...cos I do, it's very exciting.
    )

    Hate thouse ever-so-subtle spoilers.

just back from seeing it thought it was pretty good, don't read the comic's or anything may have watched the cartoon when i was younger, thought night crawler was cool "when i was in the circus in Munich " :) did anyone recognize him as the guy from that british comedy the high life (the scottish guy) Alan cummings i think his name is. The credits pretty much confirmed it for me.
Magneto with the iron in the blood thing was cool, what a way to go, a guy once mentioned it to me that he could control people coz of the iron but i wasn't so sure, but i always remembered it, also i didn't know that was gonna happen with jean gray, i just thought see was getting more powerful or something, so can someone tell me what the craic is with the thing at the end?

Oh and how is it that adamantine can be melted in the first place?

just saw tonight. I liked but it felt to long for it. should have been cut down to 1 hour 30 min not 2 hour 25 min.

WTF? i thought it was only about 2hrs as my show started at about 8 and finished at about 10:15 and thats including all the trailers and crap, have to admit it did seem long, so many climax's perhaps?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 726 ✭✭✭lamda

Saw it last night and yeh it was a bit long... I think they were going for the more epic kinda thing maybe? But it was good fun and MUCH better than the first one. Nightcrawler was great....
But the fight sequence between Wolverine and Death Strike (is that her name?) was a bit disappointing.. it built it up until you were expecting something amazing and it all went by very quickly and was a bit hard to follow... the camera work was too eratic.

What was really great was the Matrix trailer... that looks amazing! Cant wait.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,375 ✭✭✭Antisocialiser

Saw it last nite and thought it was class. Nightcrawler at the start was amazing but at the end where the thing happened with the water wat was that about. There was sumthing like that in the cartoon? anyone kno wat it was about?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,651 ✭✭✭Spunog UIE

easily better than the first one, loads of funny bits and it wasn't all goody goody, some mean actions bits with wolverine getting pissed off, the way it should be, getting good use with those claws. say it might have even up set a few of the kiddies that were in the cine, top stuff.

Nice and long too, got your moneys worth :D

Oh and nice nipples early on in the film heh heh for no reason, gotta love that.

Haven't seen either film, but I'm guessing it has something to do with
    The Phoenix

Yeh i knew it was sumthing to do with that but i cant remember the story line in the comic or cartoon that was about - anyone remember wat happened with the above spoiled word *** *******? Oh yeh and the set of knockers on rogue was 1337 tbh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 658 ✭✭✭xx

Went to see it twice yesterday - good, but not as good as I thought it would be tbh. Still, that bit where Collosus walks into the bedroom and the metal skin comes clanking up him to cover him (including his face) - TOTAL GOOSEBUMP CITY!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭azezil

    THought it was great!!
course she isn't dead, the glowing eyes, unusually powerful, phoenix shape in the water ;)

    It's something to do with
The Phoenix taking over Jean Grey's body/persona when she dies. There's something involving Madeline Pryor, the clone of Jean Grey, getting Jean Grey's memories, and feck it read this & this.

Quality film. I'm hoping gambit will be in X3
when mystique was hacking the computer his name (remy le rou (sp?) seemed to REALLY stick out

Can someone tell me how your man Stryker can manipulate the adamantine like in wolverine i.e. how did he get it liquid in the first place?

I loved the film, anyone know the name of the mazda car that the guys escaped in it kicked ass! Wolverine was brilliant and we saw into his dark past. There could easily be 5 films considering the years of comics, tv programs and all the characters, and the so much talked about spoiler that you can see in the water could be very interesting, storm looked so hot in her leather trousers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,560 ✭✭✭Woden

I think is was a mazda RX7 if my gran turismo days hold true, unless perhaps and RX8 or something has been released.

If you listen to when stryker is talking to Wolverine before he fights Death Strike it says 'its rare to get adamantium in its liquid state yadaa yadaa....' so that means he gathers it when its liquid.

I liked the film, some really cool fight scene's
    magneto's escape was class
, and the scene in the hallway with the grenades was also brilliant (if you saw it you would know).

However I thought the film seemed unfinished, as if there was something more on the end, there will definately be an X3 tho, the ending is so open to it.

Just after coming home from the cinema after seeing this movie. All I can say is feck that was amazing. The special effects were outstanding but these were backed up by decent acting and a trilling/interesting plot. Matrix 2 just got a bit of competition.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,375 ✭✭✭Antisocialiser

there will deffo be a X3 - as anyone whoes read the coimics will probably know where it is going to next

anyone else thought that the bad guys stole the show :)

Adamantium is an alloy, which means that the core components can be melted but when they cool together, they're indestructable.

I thought it was brilliant. The FX were class and it's obvious Singer was more inventive and had more funds this time around.

I've always loved X-Men and I don't I think that the films are emulating the status held by the older comic's if not making it better.

Final thought: Bryan Singer is an amazing director and it's a pity he doesn't go for more gigs. Bring on X3:)

Great film really enjoyed it right until that last 10 minutes ,the scene with the jet and what happens after was crap and was wrong wrong wrong :(

Other than that great film very well made.
