Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Those flashlight apps are a bit pointless now though IMO, since Lollipop has a built in quick tile on the drop down notification shade for turning on LED. Then again, I dont know what % of users are on lollipop yet.

I'm on Lollipop and she ain't got no "built in quick tile on the drop down notification shade for turning on LED" on her.

Depending on phone, Lollipop versions you will have will vary like the wind.

Some toggles will disappear from the panel if there not used regularly!

To get the Flash Light/Torch toggle back open your camera app and it will reappear in the drop-down!

Never had any of mine go, on AOSP so it must be a third party ROM thing

    Nope.

I just tested on my Nexus 9, may be try playing with the flash settings from within your camera app. Turning the flash from automatic to off for example!

You should be able to edit the drop down notifications and add it. I just did. I'd wondered where the flashlight was gone!

I'm same as tombstone, don't have it on my Samsung S4. went into the settings to check and not there either on 5.0.1.

Can add a widget for it though to the homescreen.

Having a proper, full, offline country map is a Godsend. I'm partial to the vector style of map display that OsmAnd offer, very reminiscent of road maps supplied by Ordnance Survey Ireland. (osi.ie)

Vector mapping that to me, beats the likes of Google and Bing, from the point of view of aesthetics.

I haven't tried the free version, but the paid app allows the download of any country that you care to view, Ireland is a vector map download of about 150MB, give or take.

A crowd sourced manner of mapping, evolves thanks to, possibly, *your* input.

There are issues with the UI, having to enter a full address to 'go to', can be tiresome, if you're looking for wildcard searches, Google/Bing will provide a more instant experience, but for offline use, it works great.

I am full of self loathing for the fact that I got totally addicted to Bubble Witch Saga :-(

The secret is to have a stern talking to yourself about never being that person who either pays for in-game content or logs into any game with facebook account.

Better half has random ads / apps on Google Play pushed up while using her phone... she tried using AirPush Detector (which I saw recommended elsewhere) but it crashed, and told her something about her phone didn't need it!

She also tried MalwareBytes and AVG.. no luck.

There also seems to be one or two apps installed which she can't uninstall... so I suspect they're the problem.

Anyone have any idea of a suitable app?

I'm ok with paying for ingame content provided it adds content and isn't just 'pay to skip this artificial waiting period!' type microtransactions. TBH though, I'd usually just buy games that cost a nominal fee to make sure I'm not supporting the freemium model where possible.

King games are OK. I usually get to level 60 or 70 in most before they get too hard to continue (without paying for powerups).

    Then I delete them.

The trick is to work backwards. Google the name of the app you can't uninstall and you might find a way to remove it (and maybe what put it there in the first place).

Kind of disappointed to see a mod of Mobile Games defending King. They are an awful company, bullies, trademark trolls, and blatant ripoff masters. They specialise in copying popular games, trademarking everything they can and attempting to get similar games pulled from the store even if they've been around longer.

Crators of ScamperGhost demonstrate how, after failing to reach an agreement about licensing, King contracted another developer to clone the game here.

Creator of CandySwipe, released 2 years before Candy Crush and clearly ripped off by King in its entirety, pens open letter to King following their successful quashing of his existing Trademark here and shows the obvious similarities between the apps here.

King Acknowledges that Banner Saga has nothing at all in common with their games but still seeks to get it removed from App Stores here and here.

Creator of a candy themed casino game has game pulled for using 'Candy' in the title here.

There are many, many more examples, but the point is that King, a company built on creating knockoffs of existing popular games, also goes out of its way to kill off other games using names even VAGUELY similar to their own. They're a cancer on the games industry in general.

This isn't a personal dig at you, it just really bothers me that they can pull in so much revenue from such shady practices. I've long ago boycotted all of their games and will continue to do so.

    Ouch... it burrrrnnsss.... :o

Consider me educated - I didn't know a lot of that.

If I'm being honest, there are far better free to play games out there at the moment - I'm playing Kingdom Rush, Earn to Die 2 and Yummy Gummy at the moment and enjoying them all (especially KR).

Possibly.. but least effort solution without rooting probably ideal!

What app would people say is best for tracking battery life? Preferably one with an opition to have battery % shown on the notification bar.

Hope I'm not being a pain but I came across this at the weekend. Used it on a Teclast X98 tablet and it was basically a couple of clicks needed to root.

Of course I see that you want a more elegant solution. I'll shut up about rooting now! :D

I have one on the corner of my monitor from when I used to sync with "MyPhoneExplorer". It would trigger a wifi connection and then start up the companion app.

That idea of a guest wifi one is nice, must do that.

Guys, a while back someone listed an app that was for youtube, only it played the audio, and not the video, meaning you could select a play list, and put your phone to sleep.

I paid for the premium version. Loved it.

Now I've just noticed its disappeared from my phone, and I can't for the life of me remember its name so I can download it again.

    Anyone?
