Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any update on how Ken Doherty's doing, anyone?

Losing 10-5 going into this evenings session. But he managed to win the last two frames of that session. Hopefully he can get his head straight for tonight.

Will BBC show his match I wonder. I will be out so going to miss it :(

BBC coverage has been pretty poor have to say cut off this morning coming into a critical point in Ronnie's match, so switched over to Eurosport where Neal Foulds does a decent job commentating, although I can't listen to Joe Johnson, his commentary skills are pretty poor and when he's not talking it sounds like he is sitting on the microphone there is so much farty type noises! You can watch it on the red button but you kind of get used to watching it in HD!

    Thanks for the update...
Ah I'd say the bbc will cover it. Surely some highlights at least anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 78 ✭✭Choodefat

To be honest, I haven't seen much of the championship so far, so I don't know how good or bad the bbc coverage has been. Didn't know it's on Eurosport as well...

Been to Ken Doherty's club a few times, grand spot...especially with a bar next door hah.

I think I would have lost interest if Ronnie had been knocked out this morning! Its always a buzz seeing him play! I'd say Barry Hearne and the sponsors are delighted he's still in the tournament!

BBC coverage is awful this year. They just don't seem bothered. Only one game on the Red button and cut off the best match of the Championship with a few frames to go. They haven't bothered showing any evening sessions either. I hope Sky or BT take it off them next time the bidding for rights starts. Not getting the coverage it deserves at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,773 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

And they wonder why interest is on the down.

They only show 3 matches live in full on the BBC channel, the semi's and final.

And for technophobic people like my father who's watching snooker 40 years, it's not good enough

Could almost swear people here were paying a licence fee.

Is it just me or is the standard of play really bad this year?

This Ricky Walden Barry Hawkins match is like two amateurs playing so many mistakes.

but the game is tied 11-11 and the bbc cut it off. I cant get the red button coz I only have basic upc.

its really bad. I know the commentary on eurosport isnt the best but at least they stick with it til its over!

its not on red button or eurosport. its not on the tv at all, coverage of snooker is gone downhill really bad this year

BBC are a disgrace this year. Not showing important games, games not even being available on red button, only showing 1 hour on the evening session.

Out of principle I'm watching Eurosport

Any coverage of Ken Dockerty game?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,318 ✭✭✭Absoluvely

It's not on TV as far as I know and is only being streamed on some websites.

This was a moment ago, but subsequently McManus missed a shot and Ken knocked in a few balls.

    Currently score: KD 35 - 29 McManus<

Both players making some incredible misses in this frame ^_^

Which is working out in Ken's favour so far :)

Been very poor quality so far! I'd say they can't wait for this frame to be over

Live on Eurosport now. Bbc coverage is poor, constantly cutting away from frames

  • Registered Users Posts: 78 ✭✭Choodefat

Anyone know if the rest of the match will be live on any channel?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,238 ✭✭✭Kaizersoze81

    Channel 423 on upc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,877 ✭✭✭purplecow1977

    Id have played better myself!

  • Registered Users Posts: 41 Forthright

Complete and utter dross from both players. If Doherty could discover the form he had against Bingham in the last session he would have this in the bag. Mc Manus is there for the taking.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,997 ✭✭✭Grimebox

Did the commentator just say "McManus is getting himself into a bit of McMess"?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

Shocking horrid stuff to watch, after the last two frames of the earlier session I had some high hopes for this one. Boy was I wrong!

  • Registered Users Posts: 41 Forthright

Selby is the big winner here.

Mc manus looks to be on the ropes if ken could only take advantage

    Yes he McCertainly did.

Ken has been getting a lot of lucky breaks in this match that've kept him in it and helped him win most of the close frames.

If Ken wins this frame I could see McManus having a bit of a McImplosion.

    What matches are on tomorrow?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

I hope I'm wrong, but if McManus wins this frame I think it will give him the confidence to close off the match. Though both players have been very poor so far McManus showing more signs of getting out of the slump...and yes Selby is the big winner here.

    What matches are on tomorrow?

    Murphy/Fu, Robertson/Allen, Dale/Walsey & Trump/Day

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

he needs this frame or its back to the commentary booth/punditry

  • Registered Users Posts: 179 ✭✭AlwaysAnyTime

ah feck, it's McManus frame to lose now

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,238 ✭✭✭Kaizersoze81

Great frame to win for ken . 11-8 now

  • Registered Users Posts: 179 ✭✭AlwaysAnyTime

Is that Ken and McManus done for the evening?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,226 ✭✭✭robman60

Ken's right back in this quite amazingly. It's a poor standard and whoever progresses will have to up their performance hugely for the next round.

No, the match ends tonight. This is just the mid-session interval.

Eurosport will stick with it I'm sure.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

  • Registered Users Posts: 179 ✭✭AlwaysAnyTime

Good break from McManus, not looking good for Doherty
