tried giving it to the driver today and he would not take it. I had to tell him that he should take it but he said it was off my next shop that my order was already paid for. I did insist he take it but he said he couldnt guarantee it would be refunded as he had never taken one of these coupons before.

The driver does not know what he was talking about by the sounds of it. I was told from the driver last night that all stores got a memo on the coupon thing. Drivers are to bring them back and get the manager to call customer service to arrange the refund due.
    They took one off me.

I would suggest you call them and explain what happened.

Tried that as well with the click and collect, the guy there said to go to Customer service. I've sent them a message, will see what they come back with

They confirmed on FB that drivers should take the vouchers for home deliveries;. Trying to find out about the click and collect ones

They didn't take mine for petrol either

    They're not supposed to.......
It is specifically not valid for Baby formula, Lottery tickets, tobacco products or Petrol/Diesel.

They are not supposed to take it for petrol.

Some people had success with petrol, there is nothing at the back of the voucher about fuel (although the one from Super Valu mentions not to be used for fuel)

If some people had luck with them being accepted- it was through negligence on the part of the cashier- or a lack of understanding of how the scheme was supposed to operate. We also have reports of people cheerfully loading up on baby formula with coupons. Neither are supposed to be allowed- and it is spelt out quite clearly in the competitor coupon leaflet that you can find at any of the customer service desks.

    Ah, right so.

I received an answer from the CS regarding click and collect: the staff will accept the coupons. Happy days

Its accepted on close to everything to shop so that'll be fine; not withstanding the standard issues of staff sometimes not having a clue.

If I am doing a big shop but baby formula is part of it can I still use the Dunnes money off vouchers in tesco? E.g. Spend 100, 12 of it formula can I still use my money off for a shop of 80 euro?

Yes, they just take away the baby formula from the total price for voucher purposes.

In practice- most of them don't bother- but it is what they're supposed to do.

Any idea how long it takes for the voucher amount to be refunded to the card?

When i tried to use one of those dunnes receipt vouchers (save 10 off 50) in tescos, i was told they didnt accept them as they were just from the till receipt. Is this right?

  • Registered Users Posts: 478 ✭✭lotsofthegreen

No it's wrong. It should have been accepted. Email customer care with the details. I've used them. They are 'spend & save" , ignorant sales assistant is the problem here

Why don't Tesco just drop their bloody prices instead of all these stupid false deals and gimmicks?

They still charge too much on many items. I can buy many things cheaper in my local Eurospar than I can in Tesco, and these items aren't on special in Eurospar either.

It's like the scam matching Lidl and Aldi pricing. Conveniently though their is no breakdown on your till receipt of what was actually cheaper in Aldi or Lidl. Sometimes nothing was cheaper according to the till receipts. And why does it have to be money off vouchers on your next shop anyway?

What's wrong with price matching at the checkout there and then?

I use Aldi for just about everything now. Only go to Tesco for niche items I can't get in the Germans store.[/QUOTE

I agree! Tesco is gone **** crap ass gimmicks, it must be embarrassing for the till worker to give them 1 cent off difference to use for the next shopping after spending alot on their groceries, Not only that Aldi is cheaper also Dealz good with stuff as well .

If a dunnes voucher says 'not valid for giftcards', can you still buy giftcards in tesco using that voucher?

My local Tesco would'nt allow it. Depends on the cashier I guess.

Chatting to someone who works in Tesco about this recently, I was told that they're not supposed to allow the use of vouchers against the purchase of gift cards but many/most staff either don't know or notice.

I guess the main thing is not to be brazen. Drop one in amongst the rest of your shopping and you should get away with it.

Vouchers cant be used against gift cards.

Thats what I was told from my manger when I was an employee.

Anyone get today's Independent and see what the Dunnes coupon is?

Supervalu are changing their money off model. I got a text with a code to use at the till as the money off offer i.e. no coupon that you can use in Tesco instead.

Despite what it says on the front page, there is no sign of any Dunnes voucher in today's Indo.

Either that or I'm going blind.

You are right. The Indo front page is completely misleading. There be no Dunnes coupon.

I saw a copy of the Indo this morning and there seemed to be Dunnes vouchers on a few pages at the bottom (different pages had different money off offers and they all expired tomorrow I think) but I only glanced at it and I don't have the paper.

I read the paper today..it's very misleading..It's only advertising the coupon that you get at the till when you spend your 25e

Looks like it - Aldi attached to paper as the past and it seems like Lidl is providing them on a leaflet insert judging by their ad

Its now all stores with the exception of the Tesco Express branded stores.

All Tesco stores are taking competitors vouchers including Teaco Express stores, I know the manager and several staff at an Express store and they all confirmed that Express stores (and ALL other Teacos) should accept competitors vouchers, and I just used Dunnes clubcard vouchers at an Express store!

Sorry if this has been asked already but do Tesco also take the vouchers that are part of your dunnes receipt for your next shop?

Also, can these vouchers be used when buying something such as a phone in Tesco or is it restricted to groceries?

    Thanks.

Yep used a few last week. Not sure about phones, however the dunnes voucher does have a list of items excluded, if it ain't on that list I'd imagine they should take them.

They've always taken Shop and Save vouchers- as in- spend 25 get 5 off, spend 50 get 10 off etc etc. They are Dunnes till spits.

Does anyone know what the official stance is with Tesco with regards to accepting multiple vouchers per transaction? E.g is it possible to use a €10 off €50 spend Aldi voucher in conjunction with a €6 off €40 spend Tesco voucher etc..?

I've seen people mention that they've been able to stack multiple vouchers per transaction no problem, but last week at my local tesco they wouldn't accept the two named vouchers above despite spending over €60
