    So you've had a bad day/breakup/argument/etc. What do you stick on the ol' I-Pod to get you back on track? Do you listen to sad songs, happy songs or somewhere in between?

    Personally I tend to listen to anything piano based. I dont know why, especially since its generally the sad stuff that I listen to and I dont go near that kind of stuff when I'm not upset but it never fails to make me feel somewhat better.

    R.E.M - Everybody Hurts

    Toploader - Dancing in the Moonlight, it's a feel good song. Also I listen to Elton John a lot when down.

    Anything by Lemon Jelly or Holy **** will normally do the trick. If i am feeling angry down i will put on some Tes la Rock, Caspa and Rusko or something similar, just because it will make me feel proper evil.

    When on a downer I have a playlist on the Ipod labelled Downer;
    have some Elliott Smith, BRMC, Interpol (B-sides) on it as they are my favs to listen to in those times. Not sure it helps but it's what suits. They are a mix of sad or pissed off songs.

    If I'm very pissed off from having a bad day then I like to listen to something angry like the Holy Bible by the Manics.

    This thread makes me think of that quote in High Fidelity;
    "What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?"

    ha, just look at the literature you're exposed to in school, ill listen to happy, wholesome, optimistic music, when they give us literature to match :P

    Tiny Tim - Livin in the Sunlight, Lovin in the Moonlight

    I'd usually listen to something upbeat if I'm feelin' down. Maybe some funk, that usually does the trick.
    Graham Central Station have a cool song called "Are you happy?". :)

    Should have added that if I want to try and cheer up with music then something like 'Theme from Rawhide' by the Blues Brothers is a good one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,379 ✭✭✭thebigcheese22

    Em if its women troubles i put on Black by Pearl Jam...****ing class song!

    If its just general miserableness I'd put on Crooked Teeth by Death Cab for Cutie to cheer myself up.

    Alternatively I'd put on Down in a Hole by Alice in Chains and embrace the ****tiness! :D

    Acquiesce- Oasis
    Against me - We laugh at danger and break all the rules
    Alanis Morissette - So pure
