Was in the clear but probably an error - UPC block all ITV4 sports even when there is no Irish rights holder. Interestingly the ITV4 coverage is provided by BT Sports

    Good race,
There is life in the old dog yet!
I think Lorenzo has had his head wrecked by Marquez, he has developed a strategy to beat the Honda's on the somewhat pitiful Yamaha and now that the tyres have changed and the Honda's have sorted their handling/chatter problems, he is finding that the M1's strengths of high corner speed has effectively nullified his strategy.
Rossi on the other hand has clearly found a new style that works for him, maybe not to the same level as MM93 but as a front runner definately he is still thereabouts.
Lorenzo's botched starts have shown that his mental toughness is not impregnable.
I have very little pity for Yamaha, they made their bed with HRC and stood by these stupid 20 litre fuel restrictions and are paying the price.
Ducati on the other hand showed that a little bit of extra fuel makes a big difference and their willingness to stand up as a voice of dissent within the MSMA, has shown that they are serious about racing after a few years in the wilderness of non-results.
Impressive turn of speed out of Dovi's Ducati and but for Cal's brake failure he could have been there as well.
I hope he is enjoying the Paychecks from Ducati because I can't see him challenging any front runners unless its cold and wet.
I wonder is he feeling any regrets?

One of the best races in a very long time - probably since Brno 2012

Great racing, it's a brilliant track, the moto 3 is just getting better every race, Jack millers antics are a bit ridiculous though, he bitches about anyone who goes near him on track then cause a big crash, then scowls at everyone and waves him arms at everyone, come on Fenati!!

It was my first time watching the Moto3 and I'll certainly be watching from now on but it was a total crapshoot. Only 0.6 between the first 7 riders home. Would have been the first 10 only 3 fell with a lap to go. Is it always like that?

There's not always 10 riders but there are very often 5 or 6. A fair bit of fairing bashing too.

BT Sports 2 are not the only channel to be broadcastling live MotoGP.
Channel One in Australia broadcast the main MotoGP race live aswell. They also have a great pre race show and post race show with lookback at the Moto3 and Moto2 race highlights and interviews with past 500cc Grand Prix and MotoGP racers like Wayne Gardiner and Troy Bayliss.Naturally they are all very biased towards Jack Miller, even when he causes accidents and cries like a little baby.
I was watching the Mugello MotoGP live via Channel One on my TV last weekend.

Pedrosa was man of the match for me. He said afterwards he had a different attitude this week. Whatever it was, I hope he keeps it going.

Can I ask, how did you get that channel? Do you stream it, or tune it in on sky box?

I have sky myself. If I could watch the races live I'd be over the moon.

I was hoping for the rain to start again in the MotoGP race. Sam Lowes trew it away again.

Lorenzo's confidence seems at a low ebb for several races now. Yamaha won't be falling over themselves to make him a large salary offer on a new contract at this rate.

Pedrosa signs until 2016 for HRC, nowhere left for Lorenzo to go.
Ducati aren't even an option I would think.
    Suzuki? Good luck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,415 ✭✭✭funkey_monkey

Their bike is obviously inferior to the Honda and Mark is so far ahead so there probably is little motivation for him - its gone this year. He'll be back on a Yamaha. Honda don't need him now and Yamaha do as Vale is not going to be a championship contender any more.

The Ducati rumour is getting a bit stronger in the last few days. Apparently Jorge paid a visit to the Ferrari factory which is very close to Ducati HQ. I know there isn't much in that itself but I believe a few reputable journalists believe he is heading that way.

A few weeks ago Suzuki stated that the big 4 would not be moving - this has proved correct to date, I cant see Jorge leaving his beloved Yamaha.

Aleix is being mentioned as the Suzuki rider for 2015.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,492 ✭✭✭✭Hotblack Desiato

Jorge would need a lobotomy to sign for Ducati tbh, they're not likely to be competitive next year.

It was a good move for Cal because it was his only option to make factory rider $$$$ and he's not that young. He'd have better results on a Tech3 this season but make far less money. I'm not going to judge him for that, it's his life and bones on the line not mine.

Jorge will be offered a deal by Yamaha I've no doubt, it might not be as big a deal as he'd like but he'll pretty much have to take it.

Valentino is way outscoring him so far this year so that doesn't help his case at all.

I think the Honda is a bit better, not that much but a bit. The gap between Dani and Marc shows how exceptional a rider Marc is, Dani is no slouch.

Yet again, Dovi is criminally underrated... fantastic job he's doing on a less than competitive bike.

Weren't Tech3 also looking at him to replace Smith. I'd love to see how he gets on a better spec bike. And I'm sure Tech3 would love to have two brothers fill their team.

No shortage of HP though, not many bikes can pass Honda's in a straight line.
Must be up around the 280+hp mark.

Chatted to Eugene Laverty last night and he said he has options from Ducati, Suzuki and Aprilia in MotoGP as well as in WSBK. The priority is to get into MotoGP but he has to wait for everything to play out before things can fall into place. Hopefully he'll get something sorted, it'd be great to see him on good bike in GP's

Another great day of racing from Sachsenring, I forgot how mental that track is, it looks like a BSB Track,
I just watched the interview with Cal Crutchlow, it's remarkable the effect that stupid Ducati had on him, He started off the interview saying he wasn't happy with the race and then seemed to try pretend nothing was wrong for the next 2 minutes! It was bizarre, as Hotblack said I believe he mentioned money when switching from tech3 to Ducati so that is obviously a factor but he really seemed pissed off so I can't imagine him there next year!?
Has Lorenzo signed again with Yamaha yet? I see no mention of it online despite the other top riders being confirmed already?,

Not yet but it's 99% certain that he'll stay, money and contract length is a stumbling block at the minute but it'll be confirmed in the next week or two. Ducati will make an announcement on Friday about their lineup, it's at Ducati world so they'll want to name two factory riders. Cal said that he'll make his announcement in the next few weeks

I presume Suzuki will have Randy dePuniet next year, and hopefully a second bike...? I saw last week on motogp.com they are looking to get one or two wildcard rides for Randy at the end of this season.

Randy is confirmed for Valencia, a lot of Suzuki promotion at the Sachsenring, the bike on show outside their hospitality tent had the number 14 on it though the only rider present was Nina Prinz who raced in the Moto 2 event.

There was a tragic accident during the sidecar qualifying at the Sachsenring on Saturday evening when the number 12 of Kurt Hoch and passenger Enrico Becker crashed at turn 12.

Enrico Becker sadly died at the scene while Kurt Hoch remains in hospital.

A minutes silence was observed before the start of the sidecar race on Sunday afternoon.

    Enrico Becker RIP

I watched the Sachsenring race BT feed and the team of Parrish and Ryder just doesn't work for me.
Parrish kept jabbering inanely and Ryder is trying to give some kind of rational explanation for Bradl falling down through the field like a stone.
However bad you may or may not have thought Toby Moody was he is nothing like the Spider Monkey on Red Bull that Parrish seems to be morphing into.
I also miss the considered insights of Spalding, he knows his stuff and could explain little things that were missed by most.
Not least that Honda were also using a 90º engine as well as Ducati.
I am afraid that I won't be paying for the BT sport package it just isn't worth it.

Cal has confirmed for Ducati as well - this time last week he seemed destined for Suzuki.

Now the attention moves to the Hondas - LCR and Gresini - Jack Miller and Scott Redding are favourites for the seats but Miller has contractual issues which may see him in Moto 2.

I think we will see Redding and Miller on the satellite Hondas alright. Not too sure about the rest but I think we might see Aleix and with a bit (please) Eugene Laverty on the Suzuki.

Bradley Smiths ride at Tech 3 is at risk, apart from a poor season to date all the teams are looking for the next Marquez - thats what we are seeing with Jack Miller and Maverick Vinales being mentioned as Moto GP riders next season, Rabat btw has decided to stay in Moto 2 next season.
