Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think there's a chance of getting them in the Veteren pack (20k credits), but it's pretty small. The Spectre pack (60k) is where i've gotten the different classes most of the time.

    New weekend operation coming up.
    Operation RESURGENCE (Apr 13-15)

Operation BEACHHEAD eased the pressure on allied planets and freed up conventional forces that were being hammered by the Reapers. With these reinforcements, the allies can use RESURGENCE to target more critical infrastructure.

Anyone who has the Resurgence Pack multiplayer DLC operational during this weekend will be granted a Reserves Pack. A Reserves Pack unlocks one of the new random alien classes guaranteed.

All participating squads will earn +10% additional experience when playing on the Resurgence expansion’s new maps, Firebase: Condor and Firebase: Hydra.

Welcome to Operation Resurgence, the next N7 Challenge Weekend!

This week we released our first multiplayer expansion, the Resurgence Pack. This DLC added new maps, characters, weapons, and consumables. If you haven’t had a chance to download it yet, make sure to grab it; it’s available for no additional charge.

Firebase Condor and Firebase Hydra are available immediately. If you download the Resurgence Pack and play this weekend you will be rewarded with a Reserves Pack the following week, containing one new Resurgence character.

This Operation is currently available to Xbox 360 and PC users only, and will run from Friday, April 13th at 5PM PST to Monday, April 16th 5AM PST. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer our Multiplayer Challenge weekends on PlayStation 3. Sony has not yet approved the promotion. We continue to work with them to find a compromise, but until then, Sony will not allow us to run the same Multiplayer Challenges on the PlayStation 3 that we run on Xbox 360 and PC.

Please remember to set “Upload Gameplay Feedback” to “on” in the online options to be able to participate in Operation Resurgence.

Krogan Sentinel with an Eviscerator - hilarious bashing everything out of my way. I can single handedly take down a Brute with Shotgun to the face, heavy melee, Incinerate, reload shotgun and blam again with the option to melee one last time in case your shotgun was slightly off target.

Yeah krogan sentinel was awesome 75% kills were melee and the lift grenades were very effective, pissed off that i promoted him .

I keep getting my ass kicked in MP, just cannot get any decent weapons in the packs.
My lvl 20 salarian engineer does great against geth, but put me up against a phantom and i'm screwed.

Salarian Engineers and Quarian Infiltrators own Geth but are poor against other enemies. You need to level up other Characters against other enemies, particularly Reapers.

I find my human engineer pretty awesome against geth and cerberus, not so good against the ol' reapers.

Rocket Sentry Turret with my Quarian Engineer was a personal favourite of mine. Now, i'm loving Warp and Overload with my Turian Sentinel. Still waiting to unlock a Geth or Batarian class though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

Here are the classes that are good for winning gold:
    - Salarian Infiltrator (overload + headshot)
    - Asari Adept (warp + throw for explosions)
    - Salarian Engineer (decoy)
    - Justicar (bubble, also explosions)
    - Geth Engineer (turret)

Not saying other classes can't win gold but these tend to be the most effective.

Drell adept are pretty awesome, Pull, Reave, repeat. They tear Guardians apart.

Doesn't the Salarian Engineer have Energy drain? I've found it great against Banshees, Phantoms and Atli? and kinda like Biotic charge in the sense that when you're about to die you quickly look for someone to steal shields from.

I think it restores some shields even if you don't hit an enemy that has any.

Oh and an update on my Turian Soldier - christ on a bike they're good at shooting things. I've got Marksman and Turian Rebel at lvl 6 and even with the worst recoiling gun in the game - the revenant - you can get a serious number of shots down range (marksman increases rate of fire too!) accurately and they all do pretty high damage for an assault rifle.

Was just finishing up a particularly enjoyable and fruitful Silver run - had AP ammo 2 enabled - when on Wave 11 the stupid thing disconnected - furious.

Ah that sucks, at this rate I'll probably have all the new characters unlocked myself by then, just missing the Batarian Solder, the Geth Engineer and the Krogan Vanguard. I think Geth Infiltrator w/ Geth Plasma Shotgun is one of the best classes in the game.

God, I thought my standard (non-shotgun, non-sniper weapons) were only weak because of my Quarian infiltrator but I have unlocked three new classes

    - Female Soldier
    - Asari Vanguard
    - Drell Adept

And all the machine guns are still crap!

As a rule, the rapid-fire weapons are disproportionately weaker in ME3 multiplayer, and especially so in Silver and Gold. The reason being that armor gives a flat protection per bullet (to a minimum of 5), rather than a percentage or anything more complex. For example (numbers made up):

Geth Plasma Rifle does 10 damage per bullet and fires 10 rounds every second. So 100 damage in one second in total minus 50 for armor, net 50 damage.

Mantis does 100 damage per bullet and fires one bullet per second. So 100 damage in one second in total, minus 5 for armor, net 95 damage.

Hence why assault rifles, sub-machine guns and the lighter pistols are absolute junk on Gold. The heavy pistols are still lethal though, Carnifex/Paladin can insta-kill with headshots, and even the phalanx still packs quite a punch.

Rapidfire weapons also have the downside of forcing you to stay out of cover for longer.

Having great crack with the Drell Adept at the moment.

I couldn't figure out how ot use Reave effectively for a while but its great. Can use it on a Marauder or Centurion and then am able to double melee them without any fear of death.

Completed a fair few silvers now - might try and step up to gold.

Anyone else get their hands on the harpoon launcher?

It's been a bit frustrating to use so far - seems to lack the accuracy of a true sniper rifle, it isn't instant hit like most of them but I really do like the animation of the glowing red harpoon sticking out of people's faces when you shoot them. :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,751 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

Geth engineer, in huntermode, on gold, camping, with shieldhealing sentry gun, geth pulse rifle X geth smg II, grouped with salarian engineer with explosive decoy, asari justicar with biotic bubbleshield and human engineer with chain overload is just so bloody easy it's hilarious!

    Great fun :)

Oh and i got the striker assault rifle IV - it's just a crowd killing monster! great for knocking the crap out of phantoms! requires no accuracy at all lol :D

Started this recently and I haven't gone too far in it but is anyone having freezing issues with the Citadel elevator?

I used the elevator, the loading screen came on and that was followed by a black screen but it still had sound. It's happened 3 or 4 times already, very frustrating.

Haven't gotten past Stage 7 on gold yet (I actually keep getting kicked when I join Gold matches) even with a level 20 character - I am not sure what it making them do it.

Anyway I have the Striker I and it is class (if a little weak) and am dieing for an upgrade.

Some people will check your build/class and kick you if they don't like the look of it. Pretty damn annoying at times.

Yeah, I have only ranked up three characters to Level 20 so far:

    - Human Male (bit meh)
    - Quarian Infiltrator (which I loved)
    - Drell Adept (which I named Zell - also growing to love this although sometimes its hard to know when Reave does and does not work)

I unlocked a Turian soldier last night so I think I am going to give that a go next - bit more traditional.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,012 ✭✭✭BizzyC

Got through one round of Gold last night with my lvl 20 salarian engineer.

Never realised how important decoy can be for team surival... I spent the whole time creating decoys while my teammates killed all the guys converging on the decoy.

I've been asked to change a low grade weapon to a rank 10 (X) and threatened to be removed if i didnt.
Normally i'd have arank 10 anyway, but some classes, especially biotics or force/power reliant classes dont use weapons as frequently and therefore dont need a max ranked weapon to get through a gold.

If it keeps happening, i'd say make your own gold run and be very selective about who you let join too. I usually set one up with a mate and we refuse to take 2 of one class, especially infiltrators. But then again, we just play firebase white/geth/gold and camp the sh1t out of it with salarian engineers :)

I'm going to say this now. I do it quite regularly if I am doing gold runs. There is no place for a level 12 soldier with little experience (low N7 rating) or a vanguard in a gold run. The other three players are immediately handicapped by someone that is going to get killed again and again.

I would rather have a team of 3 who know what they are doing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,751 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

Another thing that's quite common is people joining and starting up - disagreeing to the tactic/s and going rambo, get themselves killed and quit.

    Completely ruins a good setup.

Something i've asked for more recently is for people to use equipment on golds. At least if they do rambo and ragequit out, it will have cost them some ammo, weapon and armour equipment.

Bit petty isnt it? ..But ye know what? it seems to be working lol :D

Agree 100%, if you are farming credits from White / Gold / Geth, you can do it with most classes, but they must be at least (imo) level 15+ as prior to that their dmg output will be too low and they'll be a burden (even if they have a high N7 rating).

Multiple Infiltrators and Engineers is best. Infiltrators are definitely the best class for killing Geth, with a Black Widow, you can take down a Geth Prime in about 6 well placed shots (if Salarian with Energy Drain).

That is provided the infiltrators are focusing on the prime rather than racking up onehit headshot on rocket troopers/hunters/pyros/soldiers. Which in my experiance they do all the time when it's a pair of randomers. Sal infiltrators are the buisness though!

Have ye tried geth infiltrator yet? i've not gotten one so far, just the engineer. Huntermode is a bit... blinding.

Oh i'd absolutely agree with kicking a lvl12 from a Gold. Just like i'd kick someone under lvl5 from a silver.

Kicking a lvl20 however, not so much.

time and patience.. and even more time and some impatience.. and bioware points!

seriously though, the easiest way to get the rank 10 stuff by yourself is to do silvers. The fact that we had access to premium spectre packs for the last 2 weeks was really helpful too. I got myself a bunch of rank 10's and some new classes out of those. Bit pricey at 99k creds. I think they've gone now too :/
Just the regular spectre packs for 60k

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,207 ✭✭✭maximoose

Q: What is the importance of the N7 Rating? I've paid very little attention to it really, what is it calculated on? And does it affect anything?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,751 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

it improves by levelling each character up.
Again by promoting the same characters to single player
and again by gaining access to higher grade weapons and unlocking new characters and weapons.

It's pretty much just epeen, doesnt mean a whole lot. Just shows other players that although your character may be level whatever, you have played for x amount of time and probably have a decent weapon or the skill required to get through bronze/silver/gold easier than someone with a lower rating.

Dunno has anyone else been using this, i've got mostly terrible sniper rifles but this gun has been a game changer for me.

The shot is a projectile rather than instant hit so it "falls" after about 50 meters.

I didn't realise initially that you can charge it to do more damage and fire more accurately.

Using it with infiltrator and if you're cloaked you get the bonus damage for sniper rifles. Thing is, once you start charging the shot you decloak. To get around that, you can charge the weapon up, then cloak, then release the shot with the bonus damage (i think) and you're still cloaked afterwards.

I can 2 shot brutes in silver with this method. Very handy. I can also 1 shot a phantom if I get a head-shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,207 ✭✭✭maximoose

Ah, I thought as much. I think mine's at 71 atm, I've only promoted one character and didn't see the point of doing any more after I'd completed SP!

Actually, does promoting give you credits?

Just finished this last night. I imposed a complete blackout on this thread since I last posted here around a month ago so sorry if some these points have been done to death. :)

I didn't even know you could get X level weapons! I was using a Vindicator 1 for the entire game FFS! :( I never saw any shop selling it. Sickened!

Overall, the game was epic. As expected. I won't discuss the ending, just to say it disappointed me, but didn't ruin the game for me.

Banshees... Jesus I hate them. I remember on Earth as you're defending the Thanix Missile Battery, two of the hoors show up with a load of Marauders. I ended up taking out one, and then sprinting to the control panel to initiate the cutscene. :pac: :pac: They were the only enemy that I genuinely HATED to hear approaching because it took bloody aaages to kill them.

Brutes were fun! I remember the four on Tuchanka I just ran past, but the ones on Horizon and on Earth were so satisfying. When the last one fell and you just looked around at the carnage it was brilliant!

Some story elements disappointed me. Particularly
the decision between the Quarians and the Geth. I chose the Geth, because Legion was such a hero. Shed a few tears when he died. I just wonder would it have played out differently if Tali had survived ME2 or if I'd advised the Quarians not to go to war with the geth... guess I'll find out on my next playthroughs.
Also I felt they could have expanded a lot more on characters like Wrex as leader, or at least include him more in the game, but I guess this isn't a major issue.

The only major drawbacks for me in the game were:

    a) The Journal: What the hell! Why did they change it? It made so much more sense in the previous games, but in this one you don't even know whether you have the item you need or not. No lie, I actually spent a week looking for a particular artifact, and only realised I had it because when I was walking past the guy that wanted it I had the option to interact!

    b) The Dialogue Trees: Felt like they dumbed it down a lot compared to the previous two games. Felt to me as though there was no middle ground between renegade and paragon like before. And as well, a lot of the times when I chose the paragon option Shepard would still act like a dickhead and vice-versa.

That said, I got a good 70 hours gameplay out of my first playthrough, and that was without being connected to the internet at all (long story) so between now knowing I can get level X weapons somewhere and possible multiplayer my next few playthroughs should be fun. :)

Actually yes. I've been jumping around between the three mass effect games recently and for me the one that had it the best was ME. You had handy hotkeys - J for journal, O for Codex, I for inventory, U for the character skill screen.

Whenever you go to the citidel have a look on the map.
It'll tell you who you've got to see on each level.
So if you get, I dunno, the Rings of Asha, the Asari in the hospital will appear on the map. Once you give her the item, she disappears off it.

Also, a few times you can buy the thing you need from the spectre terminal (eg. cerberus cyphers) and if the person you're supposed to give it to is in the same area you have to leave the area and then come back before you're able to give it to them.

There's a few small bugs and bits of sloppiness in the game design like that but there's workarounds and after playing it a few times they become less annoying.

How do people get 70 hours out of this game? I've played through twice and having done everything (don't have from ashes) they've both taken about 32 hours.
You can only get level X weapons if you import a ME3 save.
Otherwise you can only get up to V. You get them in the Shuttle bay. One of the consoles is for weapons upgrades.

I've been wondering this myself. My game took just over 31hrs IIRC and I did EVERYTHING I could, from ashes included.
