Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great pics lurching - well spotted!

Not much in the way of ballast on the Volvo - were they all like that?

That grey Volvo was the only one carrying tools and other bits and pieces to move the tranny the last 200m. The other 3 prime movers were carrying a significant amount of concrete.
30kph top speed on the straights. 3 cop cars over 3 nights to do just over 120km from Newcastle to Sydney.

Transformer delivery. There was another prime mover in front of the first one, which was removed to get it in the gate. 4 Prime movers in total for a 220T transformer + the weight of the beam set.

Spotted in the southeast, it was a LR discovery 1, number plate doesn't make sense to me and it's defo not Irish Army. Guy driving was not very army like and there was a winch & snorkel on the front. Anyone know what country the number plate would be from?

'ZO' is an old Dublin issue - from the 1960's/1970's.

The Discovery body must have been fitted to a 60's/70's Landrover or Range Rover chassis - perfectly legal (once its all done correctly) as the vehicle is insured and registered based on it's chassis number.

I have seen many modern Disco and Range Rover bodies on older chassis/reg plates. Happens a lot in Holland too I have been told.
(He must like 'military green' hence the colour - the Irish Defence Forces never used Discovery's)

Could be a legal conversion but theres plenty of plate swaps.

NATO matt green covers a multitude of sins!

That's my thinking, bonus points for whoever guesses what the photo was taken from, the crudely painted out black box is a good hint :)

Didn't take many others really, might get a few in the morning before I leave. Most common set up here is 8x4 rigid with a 4 axle drag. A few 8x4 units pulling 4 axle trailers

Remember the Taxi turning out of Auckland airport, heading downtown, and seeing this motorway with Peterbilts, Freightliners and Internationals , great sight, and quite surreal. Happy times.

I was in NZ about five years ago, think some of my pics are waaaaaaaaayyyyy back up this thread. Loved it there, real mixture of european, US and Jap built trucks. Also good to hear so many V8 engines in pick ups and cars! Even my sister's Camry was a V6.

The old F12 is the bees knees. I love them, they were years and years ahead of the competition at the time.

There's one earning a crust here in Perth, I see it pulling an old tandem tipping trailer

    Slow haha

Flat out on the foot throttle was about 48mph and you could squeeze another 1 or 2 with the hand throttle

I did like driving it though, crash box was a challenge when towing an 8 wheeler

    Foden
I think ,could be way out though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭Slideways

I don't think it's a Foden. They were mostly Fibreglass cabs with a full length grill
