Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

North kerry, no such thing as nice road surfaces The hill is called scrolum, it's behind Lisselton filling station between listowel and ballybunion.

Out on the marshes on Dollymount picking samphire, and smoking the fish I'd brought back from Howth.

There's LOADS of samphire out there at the moment, if you've got a CX/MTN/gravel bike, it's more than worth the spin down. Avoid the rabbit holes and watch the sand, but cycle-able the whole way.

Disclaimer: Got all the seafood post-summit.

Staying down the valley for the Etape so had the pleasure of doing the Galibier from both sides Friday. Will post a few more as I get them uploaded.

Just spotted this now WA - thanks for coming out to play!

A bit nearer to Dublin off the R156 at Clarkestown near Summerhill. It was originally used by Atlantic 252, a long wave radio station in the 90s. Only the 3de time in 19 years of MTB that I spot a 'Rooikat'. Incredibly this one was lying in the grass 5m away from us and then slowly walk away. (Usually you spot them only for a second from a 100m+ distance) Beautiful.

That was only part of 11hrs or so that it was dry!
Was testing panniers for tour and was fully loaded, so had a little dry lube with me. Had to oil chain twice!

Something special about it alright. Photos don't do it justice at all

Didn't go into the city, we stayed near Pontevedra which was lovely, but the Rias Biaxes are gorgeous. Like a more forested, warmer version of the West of Ireland. Weather was great apart from this morning when I went for a spin to get some pics- typical. Last day tomorrow

I did indeed but on foot as the surface was too difficult to cycle on (soft gravel, stones, rock and deep ruts) and I was afraid of ripping open a tyre miles from civilisation. That picture shows only a portion of the switchbacks - there were many more. I ended up abandoning my attempt to cross the pass when I got to 1750m as I had nothing left to eat and only 100ml of water left. Each time I thought I was getting to the summit, another summit would appear with another series of switchbacks. I was afraid to keep going without supplies. Ending up doing 12k on foot destroying my shoes in the process.

It would be a great one to do on an MTB with a backpack of food/water.

Was that the surface the entire way? How in the name of jebus did you cycle on that I hit sand on the bike before and there was no hope of going 10 metres let alone the distance you went.

Excellent pics though and as you say it would be savage on a mountain bike and tent/supplies

I'm guessing - to my uneducated eye - that the top one is Doo Lough and the bottom one is Killary Harbour with Mweelrea under cloud?

Down in West Cork recently and went exploring, highlight being the Mount Gabriel climb, a must if you're in the locale.

It wasn't all rosey though, this shower caught me on the way home and after the sweaty swealtering climb of the Goats Pass, a few km's later and I'm freezing ice-cubes, doh, aka > Irish Weather !
