It's between the Note 4 and a Z3 Compact for me ( Iknow! - just trying to figure out what I want/need from a phone these days).

Either way I'll be going SIM free - bought a HTC One (M7) sim free and will never look back. The range of options out there if you don't need a phone with a contract is great!

Roll on the 10th (and reviews so that I can make up my mind)

Im pretty sure anyone interested in a note 4 has zero interest in iphone6, and vice versa so dates not really as big a deal as people make out.

Samsung are working on a new bandable one called the galaxy noted edge bend, comes with 8 mega pixel camera to reduce overheads.

I am hoping to get my iPhone 6+ tomorrow as a stop gap between my Note 3 and Note 4 in 2 weeks..

The joys of managing the mobile contracts in small company where most are still using Nokia 3310's!

Edit..wife get's the iPhone then for Christmas to replace her 5.

Nah, I work hard but I do like to get nice new tech. Other lads not as interested which suits me. If I spent as much time researching and reading up on my main job as I do on gadgets then I would probably be earning more!

There isn't one device that isn't released with some kind of issue. I wouldn't worry about it.

I only ever buy new devices from in a store, and usually get as good a price I can find online. On top of this, I get to hold it and inspect it before handing over the moolah.

Im reading of a likely oct 17th release date in the uk now.

Can anyone advise if it would be wise to get a 4g plan if going a contract route. Ill be holding onto it for 2 years and as it is im happy with my plan which is 3g but slightly worried 3g will be too slow in a year from now.

Well the colours are so close together, u can't make out which belongs to which. Why can't they list them, for example ;

Ireland say 17 Oct
UK 17 Oct
Spain 17 Oct
and so on

Looks like UK is the 10th, and it would seem likely that we fall in the same area. Also, the dot itself does look to cover Ireland as well.

I have been on to all networks and none will confirm the date they have said the 17th is from samsung but then then need to get stock so the can't confirm availability date???

Why is there no pre order yet either it's very frustrating.

Typically Irish network nonsense. They nearly always wait until like a day before the release to announce their pricing. Networks in the UK are also in the same position yet they have pricing and pre-orders available.

I'm looking forward to getting the Note 4, but I doubt we will see it here until around the 17th. I was hoping for the 13th at the latest, but the same thing happened last year with the Note 3. It got pushed back a week.

The sales that they'll have lost is nuts. I was holding out for one but couldn't wait. It must have been far from ready when they announced it.

I don't know. If you want a high end smart phone with a big screen there are other options. I've had all the previous versions and didn't really use the S-Pen features after a while. All I was interested in was it getting through a day of heavy use.

Lg g3, one plus one, Lg g pro 2, lumia 1520, iPhone 6 plus and lots more that I haven't mentioned. There's plenty of competition around.

iphone 6+ is no better than a note 3 (dont want to get involved with the apple eco-system anyway), dont want a nokia or lumia. The LG looks interesting but I am holding out on the galaxy.

erm, have you looked at the specs of the galaxy note 4 or a note edge? iphone 6...hmmm let me see, I would like a camera better than something 4 years old at this stage. The only one i can see that is anywhere near the new note is the lg.

What about the Oneplus One? Arguably a better phone, no touchwiz nonsense and half the price.

If you are basing a purchased purely on screen size, then devices like that and the iphone 6 plus are competition for the Note.

If you're purchasing for all the other features, then the Note is out there on it's own.

I saw an iPhone 6 plus in the flesh for the first time yesterday, and it really is a ridiculous looking thing, imho. It's just a really, really, big iphone. It doesn't seem optimised in any way for the extra screen real estate.

The iPhone 6 camera is outstanding. It's pretty much the sole reason i've bought a Plus. I quite dislike iOS, but there's no doubting the quality of Apple's cameras. I was considering the Note 4 as well, but **** me its just taken an age to come out. At this stage Shamu is getting closer and closer and that's just going to take sales from Samsung as well.
