Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Heard off a friend that Dunnes in Westside will be hiring a good few new staff soon, plenty leaving to go back to college and what not, probably the same in a lot of Dunnes/Tesco/etc. I'd imagine.

Why is it that every now and then there's a feature in the news about 500 people applying for 20 jobs in Spar/hotel etc.

But other places have jobs available (for quiet a while) and they're not snapped up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,758 ✭✭✭✭thesandeman

Because the shop/hotel etc have employed a good PR person/agency who can get the business in the news.

Long time reader but first time poster. Does anyone know of any part time jobs going around the city or within short driving distance? I already work full time but the celtic tiger has left me with lots of debts:(
I could turn my hand to anything I'm sure! I work in finance but can do DIY, bar work, cleaning etc.
    Any ideas anyone??
    Thanks...

As would learning to use correct spelling for you.

On topic, Smyths had a sign up for seasonal staff last week, Front Door looking for experienced floor staff, also heard La Salsa on Mary St are still looking for someone too.

And i think you will find that text speak is not par for the course in these parts, mind your potty mouth too by the way.

moonandstars, text speak and uncivilness are both unwelcome on boards.
However, warning given for the uncivilness only.

I do not have a 'potty mouth'.. I have never heard of that. Please refrain from butting in on other people's opinions, isn't this what boards is about, posting opinions?

I think text speak is a tad extreme.. I said 'u', that is all. Thank you.

In a discussion form, and in those discussions..opinions are expressed.
People can discuss my opinions sure.. so I can discuss others. I am entitled to give my opinion.

Heya guys, desperate at this stage for work. If anyone could help I would appreciate it massively.

I'm a psychology grad with over 3 years exp in retail/convenience stores and a bit of receptionist work.
My hours have been cut to 12(!) in the shop I'm in due to lack of customers and I can just about pay rent.

If anyone knows of any receptionist jobs or any retail jobs around the 30hr p/w mark I would appreciate it hugely.
I worked in a hostel over the summer and absolutely loved it.

Any help would be great, thank you :)

Yes I know it's a repost, but there is no recent ones, and the other one is closed since august.

Anyone know of any jobs going in Galway? Did the walk around town, handing in CV's everywhere. Any 'big' companies hiring atm? Factories? Stuff you wouldn't find on recruitment websites/walking around town?

I'd be willing to do almost anything (except for dodgy door-to-door sales and I accidentally sent my CV to Le Paradis, which I will NOT be doing :p)
Ideally I would be looking at something in catering / retail / manufacturing / customer service / tourism /...
I have over four years experience as a waitress/kitchen porter (restaurants and cafes), I can make a decent cappuccino and I prepare a mean sandwich.
I've also done a bit of event management (for someone I know) so I'm pretty punctual and organised.
I have about a year experience in manufacturing (Assembly) and I know factory jobs pay well, so wouldn't mind doing that again.
I'm also completely bilingual (Dutch and English) but nobody in Galway seems to be wanting a Dutch girl to brighten their day ...

    All help welcome!

Besides, any tips will not only help me, there's probably loads more of you out there looking for a job in Galway.
