Last night a group of like minded individuals came together ordered some pints sat down and out came the first form of a new club.
    Velo Club Balrothery (VCB).
    A commitee was formed.
    More pints were ordered.
    A design was agreed upon.
    More pints were ordered.
We agreed to take triathletes (too many pints have been ordered )
    Many things were talked about.

    Now for some pedantic points:
Yes there were more then 6 so it will be CI acceptable.
We have agreed that we wont approach riders from other clubs as its not good form.
    The kit will be deadly.

A 2nd Swords offshoot in the last 6 months?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,679 ✭✭✭bcmf

It's not an offshoot of Swords but a brand new seperate entity.
However we will try and link and hold ties with Swords.

Oh and if there is to be a Sportive in the future I am banned from having anything to do with the route.

Indeed, make it like nothing that has been used before. Think Lampre cross with Cannondale ;)

It's a common delusion in Balrothery that they're somehow separate from Balbriggan. ;)

Anyway best of luck with the new club Bcmf. If I end up living in the house I own in Balbriggan someday I'll be giving you a shout.

Balrothery may be a few kilometres from Balbriggan but a world apart .
When we were buying the house the estate agent said to us ' Balrothery is a good choice as its the Southside of Balbriggan'.

She didn't lie to you, my house is on the north side of Balbriggan. There's a reason I don't live there anymore.

I think I can guess where it is. The general area. Not the worst place to have a place to rent.

North County Dublin = South County Louth. :D
What's the club policy on neckerchiefs btw, compulsory or optional?

Compulsory. As is a coffee stop for every 70km cycled.

With just a bit of Meath, acting as a buffer, between the two.

I believe that you need to be CI affiliated for 18months before any promoting can get done.
But yes it was talked about.
    A North County Classic!

Well if you could just get the Lion of Fingal on board, together with a couple of those other vets that set up another local club this year, you will definitely be reminding me of one of my all-time favourite TV programmes

Not worked out which one of you is Private Pike yet though .....:pac:
