Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Saw the US version tonight. Atrocious. It serves no pupose other that reminding you that Bradley Walsh is a gifted host and TV Americans are made of plastic. Even The Beast looked like he wanted to be in a rainy pub garden somewhere on this side of the pond.

She's very shouty. There was a point the other night where they obviously rerecorded what she said and edited it in and there was a massive difference in her tone of voice.

The contestants in the one I saw were particularly annoying too.

Bradley Walsh MAKES the Chase, just like Chris Tarrent did with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

I was watching the one with Louis Walsh last night and tbh Bradley was starting to annoy me, he was fake laughing at a funny answer, the question was complete the lyric: "Been through the desert on a horse with no..." and one of the answers was legs. He spent about 3 minutes laughing at it and it was very forced and fake, it seems to be happening a lot now since they saw all the Youtube views that fanny answer from a while back got. They shouldn't try to force this stuff its better when he's been natural.

Agree, but he IS very funny and quickwitted. Love when he gets a smile out of Sean!

I havent seen the US one but I read the Beast saying he prefers the US version as the audience are more invloved and the quality of contestant is better .
Not sure if he was just saying that as it was in a US interview .
Bradley Walsh MAKES the Chase, just like Chris Tarrent did with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Speaking of Who Wants to be a Millionaire ,here is the Beast on it back in 2006
He got a question about his favourite food biscuits .:)

I came across this chase today ,its the best I have ever seen

Bradley is a guest on 'The One Show' tonight...with Richard Osman sitting in for Matt Baker!

    Pointless vs. The Chase!

    :D

The USA versions host while beautiful is highly annoying and at times unbearably so she needs to switch to decaf

^^^ Thanks for those linkies. Damn he looked oh so nervous in Who wants to be a Millionaire.

Oh dear, Bradley should have made up some of his own questions to give them a chance ...

"When one footballer kicks the ball to a team-mate, what is this usually described as?"

"Name a route through a mountain range?"

"Achieving the minimum acceptable grade in an exam is described as?" etc etc :)

Fair Play to Anne for getting a few wrong on purpose.

I dip in and out and have never seen the Chaser being beaten. The odds do always seem stacked against the contestants.

The Wikia page claims the Chasers have a 73.5% win rate (if you add up each of the Chasers totals), or about 3 in 4.

I think that's a decent percentage. It means most weeks will see the Chaser lose at least once.

    I must have missed those : D

Some of the celebrity contestants get badly shown up - one trick ponies when it comes to general knowledge!
I think some of the questions are deliberately focused to improve the contestants scores ! Enjoyable show though !

There seems to be a higher percentage of showbiz and entertainment questions for the celebrity version, it seems.

Uh... did I not attach that video in post #117? :o:o:D:D:);)

Anyway, here's the Dark Destroyer only just succeeding in reaching an only slightly bigger target:

    So you did, sorry...

I think the Chase would benefit from some kind of daily accumulating prize pot aswell like on Pointless, I love those. Need to get rid of Shawn Wallace though, he's the weakest link.

If it had an accumulating prize pot, then what would that mean for the cash builder rounds and the Chasers' lower/higher offers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,964 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

It would just be a bonus cash pot showing us how long its been since a Chaser was beaten, do you not think Pointless and Eggheads and others are a lot more exciting when you the pot accumulates into big money? As I said, you'd have to get rid of the Dark Destroyer for it to work, he drops the ball too easily...

The one I've get seen beaten the most is the doctor
I love the governess her comebacks are witty.
Not keen in the big guy can't remember his name
Sometimes I scream at the screen when they mess it up as a group, or when someone takes a minus number

Low offer walkers annoy me greatly. You can nearly always tell who it will be too.

I'd hate to have a low offer walker in my team ( that's a great expression), I'd feel like they took money off my total and did no work for it.

Not if they buzz in early and pass which has happened many times.

Am just watching a recent Celebrity Chase. Some bird out of Hollyoaks
Venison is the meat of what? Baby horse
It's an ill win that blows nobody any what? Faster
Though she did end up with 6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,803 ✭✭✭lertsnim

Irish guy on today's show given questions about British palaces and politics. That's the risk you take I guess. He didn't last too long.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,964 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

I got them all, mostly from watching Eggheads and the rest for the last few years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,803 ✭✭✭lertsnim

I got them myself though the two sitting with me both got one wrong

I'd love to see Kevin from Eggheads on it. Now he'd truly be a "Beast!"
