We bought have Halo. I was just wondering is it possible to play a lan game using a cross over cable like you would with 2…

Should be fine, assuming you both have the same version of Halo(patched to same version)

Yeah of course it should work, games usually operate on a middleware basis, you should be able to have a networked game with heterogenous hardware (e.g. Different hardware like Mac to P.C.).
