Not only has the film leaked but I just got a text spoiling a cameo which would have most likely have been the highlight of the film

Without giving anything away how good is the film ?

I've no idea, I have no interest in screeners and if I'm interested in a film I'll support it. From what I've heard it's more of the same only with less blood

Whats the likely hood of them going after some of the downloaders in each country?

Leaked 3 weeks or so before release, simply embarrassing (and I didn't think it could get anymore embarrassing in this franchise).

Can't see how it's embarrassing as it's either a case that someone stole a copy of the film or else someone, whom was entrusted with a screener uploaded it.

Well look at this way, how many big studio releases does this happen to? 3 weeks before release no less? The ball was dropped big time in terms of security.

It happens to pretty much every single film in contention for any award at the Oscars and quite a few big blockbusters in the past. And remember that this isn't a big studio release, it's a film produced by a company who specialise in low budget genre fare.

It happens every December with all the leaked Screeners looking for Oscar votes most of them haven't been released for general viewing yet either.

For what I can see the leaked version of the film is actually in DVD quality.

This must be costing them millions.

    I blame Bruce Willis.
I am still going to pay to see it. I really enjoyed the last 2. I will most likely pay for the Blu Ray also.

That Oscar Screener leak period i don't think counts as I read some studios do it on purpose to get advertising and attention for the movie in question.

Expendables 3 probably biggest cock up since the Wolverine Workprint

Which cameo is this? I just watched it and didn't notice anything.

Have to say I enjoyed it, starts off a bit meh but the action sequences towards to end are superb, better than the other movies.

As crazy as he is, Mel Gibson is still a badass, but I think Antonio Banderas steals the show.

Watched this last night,as action movies go it's decent with a few winks and nods scattered through it.

It's a dvd quality rip online so somebody is getting fired.
Not really worth the cost of a trip to the cinema for me though,an hours round trip plus the price of a ticket.
As a movie to chill out to at home it does the job.Banderas does a decent job in the ott comedy role. The only real problem is that some of the cgi is very ropey at times and looks like something from the ScyFy channel.

Will definitely see it in the cinema, Banderas is great. He nailed the character.

Mindless movie, but decent leave your brain at the door popcorn fair. Enjoyable but instantly forgettable.

There is no special cameo either as mentioned above. Everyone in the movie is officially listed in the credits on IMDB.

Stallones one liner after he kills mel gibson is one of best one liners I've heard in years absolute classic
. I can see that line being quoted for years to come:)

Stallone gives away "lucky" ring. Next scene, he is wearing the ring?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,295 ✭✭✭✭Duggy747

I thought it was a complete load of muck, and I found the other films disappointing but watchable with some moments to them. Far too many actors involved as some are left with nothing to do throughout the film and are practically forgotten about by the end.

The film is saturated in really dire CGI, green screen and the first half is filmed like some sort of homage to Schumacher's Batman & Robin with garish bright green and purple colours complete with lots of Dutch Angles. Oddly, all that stops half-way through the film.

Only good things about the film were Banderas and Gibson who injected the only bit of life into the film. Banderas eventually grated, that was more so the fault of how his character was written, but Gibson was consistently fun to watch.

He's still got that baddass streak in him and pretty much stole the film from everyone.

I really enjoyed the first two as they were exactly what I expect from a Stallone movie. Loads of explosions, implausible scenarios, camp bad guys and cheesy one-liners. It isn't avant garde French arthouse I'm going to see. It's a dumbass action movie.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 137 ✭✭Bebopclown

This movie was one horrible disappointment.
I know I know, these are supposed to be dumb fun but Exp 3 forgets to be fun.
I liked the first movie, part 2 was a big step up and quite a lot of fun but this **** right here is horrible.
I don't even know where to begin. Maybe with the pros?
Mel Gibson is great a the bad guy, it's a shame the script gives him nothing to do.
Some one liners and call backs work quite well and are funny.
It's fantastic seeing Mel, Snipes, Ford, Stallone, Arnie etc together in one movie.
    That's it for the pros.
Other than Stallone, the other guys are given almost nothing to do and are hardly in the movie. You wonder what was the point at all.
The new kids the movie tries to focus on are horrible, they can't act and have about as much personality as a wet paper towel. It sucks that we have to spend a big chunk of the film with these people.
The action goes from being ok to just being downright HORRIBLE. I don't know where they got this director from but he can't shoot action. You have these knife fights that are so badly shot and edited together. It's really hard to tell what's happening during them and makes these scenes very frustrating and hard to watch. I Wondered what the hell the point was of having them in the movie if they look this bad. The editing for this movie is a joke, the action is really poorly put together. The rest of the movie looks fine but when it's time for action it starts to look like a TV movie.
The CGI is again really terrible. It gives the movie a terrible cheap DTV look.
I don't know what else to say.
This just isn't a fun popcorn movie.

    The Expendables 6/10
    The Expendables 2 8/10
    The Expendables 3 3/10

I sent a text to a buddy after the opening action scene to say I was really enjoying it.

After that it gets... boring. Really boring. And it looks quite cheap as well. And the action after that is poor enough - Ronda Rousey's intro scene where she beats up those guys stood out as absolutely TERRIBLE. And Ronda Rousey can't act. Neither can Victor Ortiz. Also I fell asleep with about half an hour left.

Mel Gibson steals the show, even with his limited screen time. Snipes is clearly having fun too.

Not arsed about watching the last half hour that I missed.

I found the opening scene to be anti climatic. It has a cool set up. A bunch of guys heading towards a wire. I was thinking "holy crap, these dudes are going to get cut in half!". Then they all just bounce off the wire, very anticlimactic.
The final fight was far too short and again, ended anti climatically.
Also was I going deaf or did Mel Gibson seriously yell out in a fit of rage "I don't give a fart!"?
Fart, seriously? That made it into the final movie?
It's like what ever element made the first two movies fun, was taken out of this one.

    stop stop its terrible .

Said it before all he had to do was remake magnificent Seven it was easy , Giving action hero violent deaths in there last hurrah and could not do it .
the everyone surviving policy is awful
, the next one will have every one from Sly to Jeff Wincott , soon there will be more good guys than bad.

Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua aquiring the rights to the Magnificent Seven could prob do what sly was suppose to do with these movies.

Its called expendables for F sake ...expend some of them

To be fair, the film isn't officially out yet so it's reasonable to assume a lot of people won't want to know about a scene at the very end. I'm sure many people have avoided promotional materials and hence don't know a thing about it.

It's not exactly like The Expendables franchise is the height of dramatic surprise (or, indeed, basic quality), but there will be posters here who want to watch it blind - and it's only courteous that they aren't greeted with spoilers a couple of weeks before release.

    Just watched it.. not impressed.

    [spoilers ahead!]
    - Far too sanitised and bloodless for one thing
    - Most of the cast we're watching this for are hardly in it. Who cares about the new crew?
    - Very ropey CGI in a lot of places
    - It stretches even the boundary of belief of these kind of films. The whole lot bar Stallone make it out without a scratch, despite a small army and tanks blasting at them for 20 mins??
    - As already said it was, well.. boring! The final fight scene was shyte
    - Only plus point really was Gibson

The film is not even out yet but its already been watched by over 2 million people.

It was one week ago when The Expendables 3 was released to the internet, prematurely and illegally. Within the first 24 hours the movie was downloaded at least 200,000 times. Now, within one week, the movie has been downloaded 2,000,000 times.

No it hasn't. It has been downloaded 2 millions times but that does not mean that it was watched by all those who did. I know a number of people who will download everything that leaks and then only watch a fraction of them.

... and there's people who'll download it and it will be watched by several people. I would guess there is more chance that over 2 millions people watched those DLs, as opposed to less than 2 million...

Bland is the word that comes to mind when describing this. I could just about get through the first hour before turning it off.

The new characters are basically a group of generic white guys and pouty female #1. There are a couple of ideas that are given fleeting mentions before the next tedious set piece.
We're meant to swallow the idea that Stallone's character is demoralised just because one of his guys got wounded. They're called the Expendables and, despite that, there's been one death in the team in 3 films.

Transformers 4 looks like the Dark Knight compared to this.

I'm actually somewhat looking forward to seeing this in the cinema sometime over the coming week. Looking at some of the reviews on metacritic and the general consensus from genre sites is that it's like a Saturday morning cartoon which is exactly what I want from the franchise. Granted most reviews are less than kind but if the film manages to offer up 100 minutes of half way decent acting and Mel Gibson being given free reign then it could be a lot of fun. After all, the only saving grace to last years Machete Kills was Gibson hamming it up and treating the material with the respect it deserved.

Early word has it that the Expendables 3 is a massive disaster at the box office. It pulled in about 6 million on Friday and could end up doing about 14-16 million for the weekend. That's well off the 34 million the first movie took in and the 28 million the second movie did.
Internationally it's not doing any better. In a few places like Russia and Austrilia it's down 50% from what the second movie did.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,564 ✭✭✭✭OwaynOTT

Awful cgi and awful new young additions and awful Harrison Ford aside, I actually kinda liked it.
I've been dragged to the 3 of these now and hated the first two and wasn't expecting anything at all from this due to the fairly poor word of mouth about it, so maybe that has colored my feelings about it.

Gibson was a step up from the baddies in the series so far.
The problem I had with the first two was that they were intentionally trying to recreate the unintentionally funny 80s action movies. The makers of those type of films are not meant to be in on the joke.
This one kinda works for me because their attempt at recreating the first two is truly awful and the whole so bad its good works.
However, the guy who gets wounded was a big let down, of all the guys to wound as well and not have in the movie!

Saw this in the cinema today. It was alright. It drags in the first part or so, I felt like they under used Kelsey Grammar, but it picks up a lot in the second half. Gotta ask though, are the young ones actually famous or just kinda cool looking actiony people?

50 at most and in was in the smallest screen. I wouldn't of went only for the missus, who loves that stuff and has to see it on the big screen.
