Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

All three of those areas are good (certain estates in Ballybrit less good) and close enough to Parkmore to cycle. Walking to Bioware is about 20 mins.
Try getting a place as close to Briarhill as possible.

Sure am gonna have a long commute to the Zenimax/Bethesda offices in April :)

    @everyone

If you get a job here, just live in doughishka or even town, the bus is insanely reliable even at the worst of times. It's galway buses most dedicated route

Don't get into any sort of long term deal before you're here and can see the place: any landlord willing to sign you up without meeting you is probably renting out a hovel, or somewhere in a very dodgy estate.

Look at ads in the Advertiser http://www.advertiser.ie/galway - you just have to give an email address to see the online version.

Unless someone here offers you a room, then book into a hostel or b&b when you arrive, and then look at places.

I haven't used it, but according to the timetable, the first #9 bus is now at 6:30am. It doesn't go through Doughiska/Roscam though (goes up thru Mervue and to Boston Scientific for their 7am start, then on to Parkmore to do a 7am run into town).

    Good luck with the move.

I was told I got the job :) I'm starting next Monday. I'm in the same boat as everyone else though re: 7AM shift starts. Will have to look into the #9 starting at 06:30 now Mary, if it does, that'd be awesome.

Around Doughuisce would be best. The no. 9 bus will take you to Briarhill if its raining but the traffic can be mental at times. Walk is 20 mins.
There is a good bus service from there to city centre (no.9) up until 23.30

    Hi Andy,

I'm currently looking to rent a place in the Doughiska / Ballybrit area. I have a friend who is looking to get a house as well here as well. If you would be interested please PM me your details.

I find it easier to rent a house for 3 people at one time than to look around for 1 - 2 bed places as the rent is generally lower and there is more of a selection.

Also, Doughiska is your best bet for what you have described in your original post, I am currently living Doughiska, with no car and have worked in parkmore and Ballybrit estates, I've never had a problem getting to work walking from Doughiska and the bus leaves you right up in parkmore if you are taking that option.

    Grats Surrealean.

Is Salthill still a nice area?
I lived there as a kid and loved it, been a long time.

I moved to Saltill when I got the job. Great area to live, but a bit of a pain to get to work. But I can confirm that if you walk in then the 6:30am bus is do-able for the 7:00am shifts... (will be getting it myself for the next few weeks as my shift has just moved to earlys)

Did the interview there on tuesday, really hope I got through as I have yet to hear back! Whats the wait time for hearing back generally? They told me 2 weeks approximately but after hearing about the perks of the job after the interview I'm a tad more anxious to get it! :D

    Hi all,

I've just gotten a job with Bioware in Galway and I'm starting next week.
I have the week off to find somewhere to live.

If anyone is looking for a roommate or just has hints and tips on where to look, that would be great.
Maybe drop me a PM and we'll try hammer something out?

    Cheers!

still waiting on word back a week after the interview, is this a bad sign or am I just being paranoid? :)

My apologies i am just new to boards.ie and keep forgetting that i am not texting or mailing a friend that understands my shorthand .
I was asking were you from a gaming and technical background as they contacted me and said they had to give priority to these areas first and that they will be back in contact with me as i only had a strong csr background and no gaming experience. If this is of any help

As i wrote in my previous posts ive been able to finish the whole process within about 3 weeks and should start working at feb 20th =)))
Kinda busy with sorting out all stuff because i need to move from germany over there xD.
For the last interview: ive been nervous as hell too but since im already working as a CSR i got prolly an advance since it wasnt gaming related at all.

    Hi everyone,

New to the forum so please excuse any ignorance of protocol on my part.

I have been offered the opportunity to take part in an online interview this evening and I was hoping to find out what kind of questions they tend to ask? Are they similar to those asked in the prevailing online questionnaire or are they all situational type questions.

I've never completed and interview by this method so I am a little nervous to be honest. I have quiet a bit of experience in customer service, telemarketing and my current employer is a well known game retailer so I'm hoping that this experience will serve me well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The bus stop is just 2 minutes (less even) down the road, very easy to get to from BioWare.

    How did it go?

It's not as bad as you first think, right?[/Quote]

Didn't go as well as I'd hoped, kind of found the experience a little unnerving. Fingers crossed though, I may well have done better then I'd originally thought? I'm working in GAME here in Galway at present and I have a lot of experience working in telesales, marketing and customer support so hopefully the relevance of my previous rolls will play a part in their decision making process. Will let you know anyway, thanks for the response.
