Field testing weapons let your rank up, and apparently at rank 2 you can get a quest for a class specific weapon according to people on reddit. Not there yet.

BTW, when you buy your weapon package, you will get it delivered the next week. Also, you can't put the weapon package in the vault so make sure you have room for the package on your character.

Do you get to keep the field test weapons once you complete them, or do they only last for a week ?

You can keep them, but they will take up room on your character, as I don't think you can vault them.

Yeah I got a quest where I have to get sniper kills with a telemetry active.

Couple of hours away from getting my hands on TTK and my plan is laid out below, I'll be doing this on all 3 characters.
    1. Head to tower, drop a focused light and complete 'edging of factions', hopefully get a weapon for each slot as I will have 6 packages.
    2. Do first mission and subclass mission.
    3. Back to tower, equip new gear & weapons and drop another focused light and start cashing in those bounties and public events.
Roughly 3 hours of play time so might just manage the above.

My copy of TTK has arrived in the Dublin depot for Parcel Motel. I wonder if they will have it delivered at a reasonable hour tonight.

Snap, can't wait to get the (space) magic text confirming the number. Wooohoooo :-)

Jaysus Dude. I read that as "Head to shower, drop a focused light and complete 'edging of factions'"... thinking waaaayyy too much information before even starting a game....

It was a late night and my eyes hurt.

The anticipation must be killing you.

What ever about waiting for it to arrive in Dublin, knowing that it's there? Checking your phone for that Parcel Motel message.

Ah, edging, Destiny's digital version of foreplay rimming.

I completely ignored factions in year 1. Only got NM to lvl 4 on Titan. Will be pledging to FWC as they roll Int and Dis. Will be a long while before I hit lvl 25 fore the faction specific quest. I would trade in motes or something, but they just don't give enough rep, I don't think.

Yep I was late to the table also but you can just assign one faction to each character and when you rank up and collect packages just swap them to another character that you need some armour for. The packages can contain armour or weapons but the armour will decrypt to the character you currently hold the pacakage on, well I'm almost sure anyway!

^^ that order IMO, better to just unlock the subclass asap and dump all xp into it. You wont need decent weapons for the first mission

So is the price for TTK the same regardless of whether you already own the base game or not? Or am I missing something?

    Yes, same price.

I think those rep packages you buy from the faction for 5 motes give about 100 rep. I used up about 50 motes to jump a rank, up to 2 now, still have zero marks though.

Ok, so it seems because I was an early adopter that gave up and didn't buy the first 2 expansions, my only option is to purchase the TTK bundle and get another copy of the main game?

It'd actually be more expensive to purchase the first 2 expansions and the TTK expansion. That's ridiculous.

Sell your original copy, make some money back.

I've spent €58 quid base game / €35 quid expansion pass / €40 quid TTK - €135 quid all in.

Collectors edition is what? €80 quid. CEX will give ya €12 quid for Vanilla Destiny. So, you'll get everything for €68 quid roughly. If your serious about getting back in, thats a great deal.

I think I'll have to do that.

At the end of the day, it's all about how you as an individual perceive value for money.

I've definitely gotten mine: 455 hours total over 3 characters (which is a lot less than some others), at €135 quid equates to €0.30 an hour. That's insane value for money, considering what we would spend money on in our down time for entertainment.

It says recommended light is 280. I was 279, foxer 278 and the other guy with us was 282. Not sure at what level it becomes available though.

Finally got started on this tonight.

Are the old legendaries useless now?

I got a green auto rifle which out stat's my legendary one?

Maybe you can upgrade the old ones?

I'm thinking exotics too like hawkmoon etc..

After all this time the last word exotic just dropped for me in an engram.

Anyway enjoying it so far. Got to level 37.

Feel like I was going from person to person in the tower and they kept giving me stuff.

Played a small amount of crucible which got me to level 37.

Once I get 40 with my Titan I'll start a warlock. Finally giving into having a 2nd character.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,452 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

I imagine that the exotics will tell a top up much like the first time with Xur..trade in your old one for a new improved model :)

    ah here we go...

    http://www.polygon.com/2015/9/15/9328027/destiny-exotic-weapons-armor-list-year-two-upgrades

damn..I just closed the game and now had to open it again :D

you need 150 legendary marks which you don't start earning till level 40

Liking the changes to existing strikes, with added Taken enemies. Spices the usual Strikes up a bit. Hit 40 tonight and am at about light lvl220. Will run some more Strikes over the next few days, and get those quests that give Legendary Marks done too.

Really enjoying the Stormcaller class. Feels like the ultimate badass :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 401 ✭✭Mcsirl

So about these vanguard marks ..... Am i right in saying that realistically you are looking at approximately 240 marks a week assuming you show up each day for the daily mission and daily crucible matches ? Not including missions that give points ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,549 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

If you have a chance to participate in the Enemy moves against each other event on the Dreadnought, head to the right side where the Hive spawn from. Serious level of carnage with a few people super chaining. The Nightstalker class's exploding tether is a blast in the cave.

Finished Regicide last night despite constant baboon errors kicking me. Was respawning to black screens and hearing myself die repeatedly, slightly spoiled it. Maybe it will be more impressive the next two times. Question, on my first entry into the room at end of level I died once, on respawn it can up on screen "waiting for allies" and a timer counted down from 5 seconds. What's that about?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,354 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Just read on Reddit that before you decrift engram's make sure you have your max light gear on. Then the engram decodes into something with slightly more light and will bring your total up a small bit.

I haven't tried it yet myself but will give it a go later.

Yeah that works for the most part, though I think you might need your max light stuff on you when the gear drops rather than when you decrypt. Also wear your max light equipment when running strikes crucible no matter what, as you'll likely get blues higher than what you're wearing. I have full legendary gear on my hunter but have had to ditch some of it for superior blues. I looked at Ferrigan after he did the nightfall and most of his gear is blue but with really high defence, all very close to 280 across the board.

You can also use the blue armour/weapons to infuse your legendary stuff, I got my sword up from 220 to 250 attack by dismantling two blue machine guns with higher attack. If you find a legendary bit of gear you like but the defence/attack is low it's possible to keep bringing it up.

One thing I noticed that's a bit annoying is the daily crucible rewards are only a one off, once you get your 15 marks on one character there's no reward on yor alternates.

Have two characters at lvl40 now, Hunter with around 260 light and Warlock just over 240.

Sickened to be back at work today, think I've already clocked up 20+ hours since Tuesday evening :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,720 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Don't think I'll be running a 2nd character for a while at least, so much stuff to do. Still not raid ready yet either, did most of the crucible quests which landed me absolutely nothing so I'm only about 243 and need to get to 280 by Friday. Completed the first few parts of that exotic shotgun quest and now I need to finish a 290 strike :/

Give me a shout when your starting your third character and I'll start my second. Ive played through most of the story and quests solo but was on yesterday with Soulzee and Dale doing strikes. Wouldn't mind running through everything with a fireteam next time.

I'm the same. Played for about 5/6 hours yesterday and about the same on Tuesday evening. Can't wait to get home this evening and finish a few quests and finish the last quarter of a node on my Sunbreaker subclass.

True I figure this out yesterday while I was turning some engrams in for my titan without equipping all my "top" gear, my engrams were decoding in ~light level stuff, as soon as I put it on I started getting higher light level things.

I have managed to bring all my guardians to ~270. No I will start focus on 1 and bring him over 280 to start doing nightfalls. Weeklys were easy enough EXCEPT for that rasputin strike with the warsat. that was not easy at all!

I also picked up The Vanity from FWC, unbelievable Hand Cannon, luck in the chamber and firefly, better stats that hawkmoon! I am pretty sure it will be good in crucible as well

Trying to complete the exotic bounty for dead orbit, the strike part is killing me, hard to find a group who knows what they are doing and people that are not AFK or leave at the beginning... :(

True but you get 3 x amount of marks, use to be 5 per daily not it is 15.

Also dailys are way harder (or so it seems for me) than previously

I got a shotgun called Immobus as a reward from doing a short quest with the gunsmith. Perks are Surrounded, weapon gains bounus damage when surrounded by three or more enemies, and Bouncer, kills inside Ward of Dawn with Armour of Light do not expell ammo.

    Anybody else get this ?

No worries. I'm focusing on getting Hammer Time as high as possible for the Raid this weekend. Will work on the rest over the next few weeks.

Oh yea forgot about that. We were running Heroic stikes and Dale was heading off for a bit so wanted to see did you want a spot.

Was it when you hit rank two? i think you get a class specific quest from him, I have one sitting on my hunter to get 75 kills with a sniper while a telemetry is active.
