Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but rap has always had its share of talentless and average rappers.

    exactly what conor said.

the likes of drake being classed as an mc dont make me laugh.

That's me told, though the term mc does have a few different connotations right, or in 2012 does it strictly stand for one thing and one thing only, something that drake and such obviously are not?

Random Krs one clip and the two top comments should sum it up.

its a corporate thing v underground thing?
like i said, theres many different connotations, certain groups have taken ownership, it is what it is, which is not underground, or realism, nor is it main stream.

this whole thing of taking ownership of a word/term thats been around from day one, meaning something else back then, doesnt sit well with me.

No it has nothing to do with how many records you sell.

Ok Hugh, I think I prefer to go with KRS-One. I think he knows.

    That's very foolish.

I think the previous post was a opinion that was just not elaborated on, in that Hugh values his opinion more than KRS.

Your post is a bit more personal and attacking the poster, not the post.

If you want to discuss further, take this to PM.

lol i value my opinion more than krs, what a load of old tosh.
krs is a hugely intelligent man, very knowledgeable on all things, hip hop included, but he can be wrong on things.
people spend so much time telling us whats not (insert subject) without telling us what it is.

its history, it can not be changed, you can not take ownership of something which does not belong to you.

Hip-Hop in the sense most people are using it here is not made up by us it is what Krs, Chuck D and other rappers, djs, etc say.

I think they have a right to say it, and it should hold a lot of weight (maybe not to Drake fans though)

krs didnt really explain it properly, he mentioned corporate, i got the wrong end of the stick, like i normally do.
like denzel said, explain it to me like im a two year old.

    You have two examples there.

"Rappers spit rhymes that are mostly illegal, MC's spit rhymes to uplift they people."

Replace illegal with money, b..ches etc

    your reaching.
and you havnt given an answer, what someone rhymes about does not determine anything, least of all whether they are an mc or not.

if thats what krs said hes wrong, if you are saying that because you feel thats what krs said your naive and not very well informed.

Nuff said about what? the majority of them rappers you named are shít.

I'm not even going to say the big records labels could have paid MTV to influence the ratings, MTV are too much to same as the big records labels for the result to be different.

All ring tone artists and the list was made to increase sales.

Tech n9ne is shocking and ludacris is horrible in my opinion.

I would say give Ludacris a chance, especially his older stuff.
One of the best from the south anyway.

without a doubt, luda is a legend his older stuff is quality.

well able to rap, dont like his newer stuff though.

you cant call songs like this horrible man imo, pretty good for a man who started out as a dj. :)
