Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This yr the charity involved is the Leukemia unit at the Mater Hospital, where someone very young and who is very involved in our sport is currently being treated..Some of you may know of whom I speak.

Might do likewise although Im coming from Rush. If you do decide to spin up from Balbriggan let me know what time and place you intend to depart from? Otherwise I will have to get the early morning train.

Be sure to allow yourselves at least one hour at the border crossing into Louth.
Weekends tend to be busy so bring a flask of hot soup and a good book in case there is a delay.

We have to cross through the badlands of Meath first.More worried about that tbh. Last time I passe through Meath I had a banjo thrown at me...

Is this a leisure spin or a flat out hammerfest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,322 ✭✭✭killalanerr

Definitely not a hammer fest, a controlled lesure tour

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭Eamonnator

I was injured for this event last year, but in 2013, my average speed was 28.4KPH.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23 Knoby

I might head up to Drogheda just back from a bd injury so average would be 25kph max i would reckon the distance is another obstacle for me if I do turn up Ill be on a black Bianchi Sempre.

Just checked mine for last year @28kph, it was a nice sized group so no need to go to the front unless you want to,it was well controlled on the few hills

I'm guessing it's ok to park in the retail centre - there's no fear of getting clamped is there?

It should be fine. There is lots of parking and we normally park there.

No problem with parking. It helps when the club treasurer owns the park thank God.Are we going to be blessed with our new board member for the spin. You'll be very welcome.

Irish rail site is not taking online bookings for the early train and hasn't been for 2 weeks at least. Only taking them for the express at 10. Its touch and go whether I'd make it anyway

I am out. Loaded with antibiotics and a visit to the tooth fairy scheduled for Friday pm for a rogue wisdom tooth will scupper all plans that don't involve industrial strength pain killers and vast quantities of alcohol.

Hi All, hope to partake on Sunday but was wondering if the roll out time was 10am or 10.30am as mentioned in the OP's post..I've seen the 10am start time mentioned elsewhere and be handy to know as I was looking at cycling up from north Dublin for the official tour start and wanted to pick on my own roll out time. Is this an official Drogheda Wheelers organised event? I cant find anything on this online other than on here. Thanks.

Apologies for the bit of confusion - we will begin assembling all riders at the retail park for 10.15am and then definitely starting at 10.30am on the button.

Looking at numerous options, and considered cycling to Drogheda and doing it for 130 km and do the Gran Fondo, though I'm unsure if I'd be able for it, this is my proposed route, unless I can make amendments to make it super flat on the way
