Anyone else see this? Seems like a game that didn't seem to fit a sequel is going to get just that. Hopefully this time they might refine the RPG-lite elements to ... well, have actual RPG elements in it. The teaser looks quite pretty though :)

Oh and in the comments is a naughty link to a video of said teaser :D

    Very purdy....

Is it still a prequel? They could have great fun with that, running into characters you've heard of or met in the first one.

looks like a sequel. Isn't that one of the little sisters from the first one just grown up now. She's also holding a big daddy doll

It looks like a sequel - that's a Little Sister grown up, and apparently with telekinesis powers to make a "Rapture" sandcastle.

Dying to see this when I get home from work.

Probably will be a sequel, rumours of there being a triology.

Any Daddies in the trailer? Mention of Ryan, Atlas?

Wow I’ve seen more interesting pieces of wood than that clip, should fit in well to the bioshock story so...

We see a Little Sister, possibly in her early teens look out across the sea as the sun sets. She's holding a Big Daddy plushie in her hand, and then behind her, sandcastles of the Rapture skyline start growing out of the sand. That's it. :D

When I saw it first, I thought it was a Big Daddy Sackboy :)

That's cold, Cremo, so very cold :D I thought the story was one of the better parts of BioShock, though I am a sucker for dystopia.

Would they kindly hurry up and bring the game out.

Bioshock 2 can suck my big sweaty balls.

Bioshock is the buggiest piece of crap I've ever come across. Could be a great game but I'll never know because it never works for longer than about 90 seconds. 2K seem to specialise in releasing games without actually playtesting the ****ing things.

I never had a single issue playing Bioshock. Nor did my flatmate have any issues. After the fuss over the limited activations I don't recall the game being accussed of having serious technical issues.

Your system up to date with the latest drivers and patches?

I never had a single problem with Bioshock. Nor did any of my friends.

But yeah you're right, it's always the developers fault

A quick google will reveal that I am faaaaaaar from being the only one with massive problems running Bioshock.

I play a lot of first person shooters and crashes are extremely rare, unless I'm playing Bioshock. But sure, if you've got anecdotal evidence of it working well for you and a few of your mates, then I'm sure it must be just me

Had a problem or two running it with Ati cards, but I didn't like the game all that much anyway. It was good - for awhile. After a few hours gameplay I got quite bored of it. Awesome style and visuals though - really, really cool.

I think doing a search on google for crashes related to any pc game will return quite a lot of results. It's just how it goes. If I remember correctly, a lot of people who got the disc version had trouble with crashes early on. I got it through steam and didn't have much trouble.

I have had lots of issues with dozens of games (Far Cry 2, Dead Space, Fallout 3) but not a single issue with Bioshock which is extremely rare for a PC game. Even if I did have issues with a game I would have enough sense not to scream "buggiest games ever" as it may be an issue with the hardware and software I'm running. I'm not saying that Bioshock is perfect but as the PC is an open platform with thousands of different software and hardware varations so you can expect issues for every single game. If thats unexceptable to you then go play the console versions.

Also a quick google will reveal every PC game ever made has had massive problems for some people. You will find hundreds of people complaining. Alot of these issues are related to users not having the latest versions of Direct X, graphics/sound card drivers, patches or issues with the games copyright software not working in conjunction with some virtual drive tools like Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools or problems with anti-virus software or running Windows for 18 months without ever defragmenting it or people using less than reputable no CD-Cracks.......the list goes on.

Also if the game was extremely buggy reviewers would of picked up on it and lowered the score accordingly yet the game remains one of the highest rated PC games ever according to metacritic (I don't think its that good personally). It would not have gone on to sell 1 million copies on the PC with a reputation for being buggy either.

I've managed to get it running for a couple of minutes without crashing thanks to a tip from another boardsie who also had loads of problems with it, and reckons that Bioshock doesn't like widescreen monitors much. Seems to work okayish in windowed mode... which is stupid but is better than the alternative I suppose.

  • Moderators Posts: 5,554 ✭✭✭Azza

I ran Bioshock on a 24" widescreen Acer monitor (AL2423W) on a Sapphire x1900xtx card at 1920x1200 full settings in DX 9 mode. I had no isses with in widescreen except the game was not patched at that time so widescreen had an incorrect FOV and the picture was cropped. This was fixed in patch 1.1

    Whats your systems specs?

Bioshock on pc worked "better" when nefarious means where used to remove the cd check.

    or so i heard :o

Core Duo 2.66Ghz, GeForce 8600GT, 4Gb ram. The game works OK in window mode, just the occasional crash.

As for the game itself... meh. It looks pretty but it's fairly repetitive and the enemies must be the most irritating ****ers in the history of gaming. It's satisfying to kill them purely because it shuts them up.

That was a really crappy teaser video. Girl on beach followed by large phallic objects growing out of the sand, the end. Weird.

I had the same problems with bioshock but 2 hours of googling and I had it running perfectly normal on my widescreen monitor.

Do people actually think thats a good teaser video? I think anyone who does is just a Bioshock fan looking forward to getting Bioshock 2 and would have been just as easily impressed with a picture of "Bioshock 2 coming soon".

You could not call that a good teaser video.

Well, you could. The whole point of a teaser, is exactly that. To tease you and make you want to know more. Its not supposed to give any details of the plot/gameplay/characters. Its simply there to tease you. So, ya. Its a pretty good teaser.

I still want a Big Daddy plushie :p

Whats wrong with it.All it was meant to do was "tease"

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 35,941 CMod ✭✭✭✭pixelburp

The teaser has generated discussion, debate and argument. There more for fans to chew on than just a single banner saying "coming soon". It has also created "brand awareness" as they say. So yes, it is an excellent teaser video in that it has worked perfectly to get the news out there.

yeh but you're forgetting, anything that makes $$$ = automatic sequel no matter what the story is.

    Mr. Spielberg anyone?
