Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How do you know the chief constable has said the first batch in group 2 are going in May 2015? What would you realistically need to score to be in this batch?

I would hope this new money will mean more recruitment surely....?

Chief Con tweeted it during a live Q&A last month.

Last campaign, any score over 70 was in the first batch to receive vetting forms and PCA invite.

So do you think it's reasonable anyone who's got a score over 70 will be first phased through? Do you know how many are phased through at a time?

I wonder are there many who scored over it tho.... not a lot I imagine?

The question about updating your address, it stated in your assessment centre results email that if your address has changed then you should email the address they provide in that email. If you have a read through it you should find the email address to get in touch with them.

It's impossible to say whether it'll be the same as I'm only going on experience from campaign one before all the talk of funding issues.

Previously, it was batches of around 100 phased roughly every five weeks. How early you're phased through the remaining stages is dependent on AC score.

I'd go out on a limb and say anyone scoring 80+ will definitely be in the first batch and anyone with 75+ is most probably up there too. Keep in mind this is guess work though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 Youdontknowme6

Yeah guess work but an educated guess at that from experience. It's impossible to know exact numbers but surely there wouldn't be too many scoring in the A* cat or else the process would be flawed, as it's the highest grade they can give.

Interesting to see how many actually get letters or calls. Better up the fitness regime....

Hi all, hope you had a good new year and 2015 Is our year!

Does anyone know roughly when the next stages are going to start or what way it begins?

Vetting papers in the post / email about PCA?

  • Registered Users Posts: 15 AAPD123

Anyone any news yet? I'm hoping this week brings some sort of info..

  • Registered Users Posts: 209 ✭✭DaveNi

I really doubt there will be any more stages until the current merit list is exhausted. Which is due to expire in March.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15 AAPD123

Really? That's not ideal. Surely they can send out vetting forms and get physicals out of the way while they exhaust the merit list, or is that wishful thinking?

That seems completely illogical as they'll be having to start PCA etc from late March/April say and won't have anyone able to start until ALL stages including online learning & vetting.

The 2013 campaign will cease at the end of this tax year as has been confirmed by press releases IIRC.

Can see those with say 77% up (obviously a guess), getting vetting & invite to familiarisation really soon - with the latter given a month or so notice & PCA roughly a month after that.

Could have medicals and online learning completed for April and a squad ready to saunter on in to GV.

Clearly its just what i think. And il stick by that,

If you start hoping for something next week etc and waiting on postman everyday, you are in for a long long wait, trust me, the waiting has put so many people off campaign 1, i waited 6 months for my pca date and vetting forms.

Just keep it at the back of your mind and get on with what you gota do.

This sounds much more pleasing to the ears. Hopefully things will starting rolling out soon and we can use that as a starting reference point.

I think vetting forms for campaign 2 will need to go out in the next month or so

However I would definitely echo what daveni has said about waiting for the post man

This is the most long, drawn out and often illogical process I have ever been a part of

Second guessing dates, times, scores, numbers is nigh on impossible

Just ask those remaining in campaign 1

Keep calm, by all means get/keep yourself in shape in anticipation of a call

I got my AC results in january I think it was, and it was May before I got vetting forms and that was before there were funding issues to contend with

Was wondering guy's, I have passed my AC with a score of 79 % and am a relatively fit male. If you pass the AC, PCA, Medical and Vetting are you then pretty much in? I don't understand some stories I have been told where people pass everything but don't get recruited at the end of it all. Just want a bit of clarity on the matter, if I am so lucky to get that far and pass everything should I still be unsure of a job or at least a little positive that I might be recruited?

If you read through the waiting list thread there are several people who have completed and passed all the stages

They are now just waiting on an offer, the problem being with the current financial constraints each intake is being processed on an individual basis depending on funding.

Sadly there is a possibility you could complete all the stages and not get an offer solely because of the budget

Hopefully this is not the case.

  • Registered Users Posts: 101 ✭✭Dr_watson

Also keep in mind that from an employer's POV ideally the numbers on the merit list exceed the number of vacancies so there will always be people who pass but dont get an offer. The lower your AC score the more chances that you will form this surplus. Pretty good AC score though with 79% so wouldn't be worrying.

So Iv been reading the posts over the last few days, AC score of 74, would I be sat in the top bracket or average ?

If campaign 1 (1309) is anything to go by, and I know at this moment in time, funding is up in the air etc for us in campaign 2 (1405), but if we are going by campaign 1 with time scales etc you would be top bracket, I think the third squad maybe 4th was made up of 74's for 1309, hard to say though as Suzuka said, I would imagine you will be potentially receiving vetting forms when the first batch of forms head out, which should be relatively soon, take what I say with a pinch of salt mind you as its all assumption on my part. With all the lack of clarity regarding us, who knows what the score is and where we all stand.

  • Registered Users Posts: 65 ✭✭Razer33

Has anyone got a link to where it was said that the numbers for 1405 were down to 100? I was just reading the CC's report to policing board from October and it simply says that:

'Competition two, which is currently running, will continue as the majority of the budgeted spend has already been invested. The intake of new officers will however be substantially slower. The plans for a third recruitment competition have been stopped.'

Sorry if that has been asked before but i'd just like to read a bit more about the reduction to 100 rather than 378 odd.
    Thanks

This article on the BBC news website mentioned the reduction in recruits to 100, was taken from the December policing board meeting in public
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-30333080

Be interesting if they amend this with any new money after the January monitoring round, probably announce something at the next policing board meeting (February)

I'm near sure I read somewhere that the PM/SOS said that any additional money must safeguard policing/health aswell with the Stormont Agreement, don't take my word for that though I can't place my hand on the article ATM. Plus there's always a possibility the CC is just scare mongering about lower numbers like the department ministers are to secure additional funding but tbh who knows! Lol

  • Registered Users Posts: 108 ✭✭Geo1986

I would say the policing budget would have been high up the agenda in the recent talks. I would guess they will get the funding to recruit the 377 needed. Would be a bit silly to leave your police force short of numbers

Anyone know if that after GV has finished, new recruits go into neighbourhood policing on bicycles first before going into response? Just been told that this may be the case

From anyone I know who has passed out, all of one lol, neighbourhood policing is where folks are going not like before where it was response, neighbourhood and community policing is shot so seems everyone is heading there for the 2 years during probation for the mean time anyway, again I'm only going on what I have been told lol

Service first dictates that you should do 10 weeks neighbourhood, 10 weeks response and 10 weeks case progression team

Unsure whether the case progression team part is carrying on as it is just in belfast not service wide as first planned

Got a couple of mates finishing up their first 10 weeks NPT in couple of weeks to go into response

Some people started in response and should be moving to NPT

Hi, I got 71% AC in 1309 campaign and should have been in intake 4 I think with my score but vetting held me up. If I were you I'd be training for PCA, depends on how many scored more than you but the longer you're training the better I guess. Good luck

I would imagine soon mate, for those that would be processed first it would have to be soon, May is the start of the intakes for 1405 as the chief said on his twitter Q and A at the start of December. So I would say within the next week, 2 at a max, for there to be enough time to process vetting, physicals, medicals and then the online learning too.

If I remember correctly the first batch from the last campaign got contacted on the 21st of Jan last year and were in for May time, so perhaps something similar this year? Does anyone know how many they phase through at a time? Think I would be one of the first ones up but not too sure as you never know.

Who knows, more time it take more time I have to hit the roads and get ready for the PCA! Hopefully they take on more than 100 tho, I am sure we will all be listening to the policing board news in Feb.

Vetting forms went out the other day for those who scored 70+ (If I remember correctly). When the rest recieve them would be anybodies guess.

I'm mid 70s too but from what I've heard it was only over 80s and high 70s that got. Could be another couple of weeks before the rest of the 70s hear..

Judging from the posts on here, it seems that 78+ received vetting so far. I returned mine today and await PCA invite now.

I would guess the remaining 70s are up in 4-5 weeks, so not long at all for you guys.

Highly doubtful, massive number of retirements coming up, force is really stretched, big overtime payments hurting the budget. Recruitment makes sense but may have to be at a slower rate from the sounds of it but with no new campaign on the horizon I wouldn't lose hope on this campaign even if you got a letter today.

Exactly, they cannot afford not to recruit. PSNI paid 70 MILLION last financial year in over time, which is just madness (FOI from their website). They have a lot of older officers who make a good wage and a better over time, with the security alerts etc all the time that bill is always going to be high. When these older police officers retire it will free up a lot of money, not least their wage but also their overtime bill.
