Working on the blackroad Road, I can see the stage from our building and we got an email about traffic restrictions from 7:30 am Thursday until late Thursday night, our building has 2 entrances, one on the Blackroad Road side and one on the Monaghan Road, the Monaghan Road side has the bigger car park so it's going to be a disaster trying to get in and out of that later on in the day.

The stage is towering over the stands as well, should be a really impressive gig.

I dont live too far from there so please keep the noise to a minimum

Enjoy should be a savage gig!

Just took a stroll down there the place has a nice buzz going.. Are they going to leave the park or the pond area open to the public then. I got that letter too and spotted one of the local bars has a stand there just outside the venue, would you be able to stroll down for a sconce? They are doing great work cleaning up down there wish they would do it more often

Are there places to eat and drink outside the stadium? May wonder over around 5 if there are and sit in the sun otherwise will leave it until later to arrive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,657 ✭✭✭Milly33

well :) passing the showgrounds entrance on monaghan road there are tents going up in there but I would think that is private for people attending, but then when you head into the pond area where there is a big patch of grass outside the stadium there are heinken bars being set up there which the venue are running and there are a few catering vans so id say you would be able to wonder down, shame they didn't stick that info on the leaflet..actually ill email there im sure they gave an address

There are no bars outside the stadium as such but there are 3 pubs in blackrock (google The pier head inn - the other 2 are near it), the venue (pub that is) is close by and by the docks (close to the city) there are a few watering holes (sextant and the like) but expect all these placers to be jammers but the buzz will be great (clarion hotel near sextant does food and a few other places around there)

Thanks but town not much use unfortunately. Will be walking the old train line from rochestown to the stadium.
Good to hear there is stuff outside the actual stadium though. Thanks.

There is nothing "outside" - the places I mentioned are within walking distance. I know at matches they have them old chipper van yolks so there might be a few greasy spoons close by to help you soak up the excess

Are you a man beeroclock, cus most men don't listen to me..I just said there are the heinken bars set up outside :(.. Look up the venue bar on facebook and youll see it, by the sounds of it id say they aren't restricted to just those attending the gig

I believe Ontap.ie are doing the bars or at least some of them in the venue.

Just to clarify...i have a ticket. I just dont want to head into the actual stadium itself. I was enquiring about drinks "outside" the stadium but inside the security ring so to speak and it sounds like there are as milly says...cool.

NO SUPPORT ACT am not impressed they got IMELDA MAY at kilkenny show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 855 ✭✭✭polydactyl

Bruce never has a support act. Imelda May is there in kilkeny and Josh Ritter, glen Hansard etc as that's a festival weekend. Have seen Bruce loads and he doesn't have support as he comes on himself at the time support acts usually do. You are getting more Bruce for your money. Imelda has her own concerts of you want to see her.

This will be heard miles away as were the past concerts so you wont miss out.

Also,Bruce is staying in Castlemartyr resort.

I've heard so many rumours about where he's staying - I heard that he wasn't even staying in Cork but was staying in the one place the whole time (in Limerick I think I heard).

Is this definite that he's staying in Castlemartyr?

Some bloke on acoustic guitar came on playing support at 6pm in Limerick last night - did a few songs - Bruce Springsteen or something I believe his name was.

It's the queue for the pit.

There was at least 200 at 1pm. There are scheduled roll calls so most only turn back up when they have to. The 15-20 are prob waiting to get a number at the next roll call. Over 250 I would say already.

    Any good parking places recommended?

What are the chances of getting into the pit when gates open at 5pm tomorrow? Probably zero?!

The gates will be open well before 5 ,they never open them at the advertised time.
I'd expect them to be open at 4pm.

5pm should get you into the pit .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 855 ✭✭✭polydactyl

No prob good chance just to back of pit rather than front. Any later than that and I doubt it. More ppl queuing for pit passes in cork than in Limerick.

I'd say 4.30 should be ample time .
Its a weekday, people have work so alot wont be able to make it before 5.
Over half the people yesterday with wristbands didnt queue according to reports on here ,they walked in when the gates were opened.

I plan to be there around 4.45 ,get a wristband and then wander around/sit down until 6.30 when I will take up my position.

And do you just ask for a wristband then before you head in or what? I'm not sure of the whole "procedure" lol :D

If you have a GA ticket are are there on time you will see them being handed out. The ppl queuing now and doing roll calls are ppl who want to be the first few hundred into the stadium to get near / beside the stage

    Oh now that is funny.
A 64 year old man who plays folk rock has a mosh pit at his gigs!!!:D:D:D
    I'd say it'll be lethal in there:eek::eek:

Ooooh, he might pull a pretty girl out of the crowd and dance with her on stage - and said girl will have a huge show biz career!!
    Maybe that explains the queue.
