I think Paulie Yifter is the 3 hour pacer. His 5k splits are 21:14, 21;09, 21:15, 21:11. Still on 2:59:00 pace

    Another 21:11, he's a machine.

Through halfway and DukeofDromada and PaulieYifter are due to cross the line within a second of each other (real time) for their sub 3hrs!

It'll be interesting to see how this virtual race plays out (I don't think they have met).

That's gas, they may have kopped it.

Digger is slowing down. Hopefully he levels out now. CL through half and on for 3.03.XX will be interesting to see how the hills effects pace now.

CL 21.50 split put her at 1.48.39 for 25K

Dory seems to have sped-up a good chunk, now at predicted 3:23.

    joe through 30k in 1.55.05
    digger halfway in 1.35.50

I don't know any of these people but this is better than the masters. :)

Don't get too excited just yet!

Boston is notoriously hard to predict from early splits due to the downhills in the early miles and the hills in the second half.

My own race there a few years back resulted in a second half that was 10 minutes slower than the first half, and that's far from unusual. In fact, I know only one guy who ran a good second half there!

    A 20:50 5km, doesn't look too good.

Killjoy. If you've trained properly for Boston you'd have been fine.

Running to plan will be a matter of how she tackles the hills though given her billy goat approach to training the last few months shouldn't slow too drastically.

Jesus I feel like I'm running this myself...

Again be wary of extrapolating times, I ended up losing 6 mins on on hills on 2nd half in 2011 and similar story to those around me, however....

Hopefully she's nice and comfortable and not thinking too much about the chocolate at the finish line.

Absolutely! Sadly, I thought I had but apparently I had not. And the same seems to hold true for the majority of runners there.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be delighted if all the guys and girls had great races!

    Odds on Dory catching digger?

Haha! As it happens I did indeed meet the man himself, last year after the Limerick marathon and had a little chat.

    Ok so, I know 2 guys! :D

    I know, I was there! :P

He used to live three doors down from me when I was more interested in chasing young wans than chasing times ;)

So your not into the young wans anymore?

C'mon Joe, mostly down-hill from here.. Take it home..

    01:41:18 HM for Dory.

Very controlled pacing from her so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,883 ✭✭✭Younganne

Dory halfway in 1.41.18 target 3.22.36

    Digger 25k in 1.55.15 target 3.14.31 -

I say she more comfortable now than she was the first 5k ,that woman does not like taking things conservative

No 30k split for CL; again hope it is just a dodgy chip...

    Paulie Yifter is slowing slightly with a 21;38 6th 5k :(

Edit: CL's 30k split just appeared, slight slowing. I am guessing 25-30k is a bit slower?

30 k is right in the middle of the Newton Hills. A slightly slower split would be ok here, and the next one as well, so don't panic just yet.

It's when they drop minutes that the proverbial has hit the fan.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,883 ✭✭✭Younganne

CL 35k 2.33.57 so slightly slower at 22.55

    edit ; joe 40k 2.39.18
