As a neutral I must give props to Tipp. They showed great hunger and really showed they learned from last year and closed the game out well.

Kilkenny have been great champs, but it's nice to have someone else winning it for a change. Most likely this only be a blip and normal service will resume with another Kilkenny win in 2011.

I haven't had time to read through the thread yet so I don't know if it's been mentioned, but Brendan Maher was my man of the match. Absolutely immense performance by the guy.

I don't know how it could be mentioned that Brendan Maher was your man of the match without you knowing?!? :p

Tipp just cleaned up every 50/50 ball and whenever a Kilkenny player was in possession there were at least 2 players on him. That's what made the different

Lost to Cork in 2004 in the rain.
Lost to Tipp in 2010 in the rain.

I disagree. More teams will develop confidence now that the so called invincible team were finally beaten.

We lost one all Ireland today but we also won one today and we won the All Ireland club championship this year, the intermediate all-Ireland and all-Ireland colleges championship.

We can't complain we lost one today. We had a very good year and a good few years.

Seen him myself, he had a head on him now as if he was in need of a good dump after two many Guinness last nite...must have been in Coppers

Well done to Tipp. They wanted it more and by god did they get it. Will look forward to see how the progress in 2011.

I've noticed Kilkenny don't seem to play well in the rain. Reason for past results included, not an excuse but surely come rain or sunny they were supposed to be the best in the land.

Oh I know, they are only good when you pick the right one :pac:

Though I wouldn't be surprised if next year was the third final with Tipp and KK.

Lads i'm delighted we won but im delighted that the whole stadium (not just kilkenny fans) got up and gave Henry Shefflin a clap going off the field is terrific.
Henry is a terrific fella and an all time great of the game. I wish him a speedy recovery.

I did think some KK fans like the few on boards and sectors of the media went OTT in the build up to this game and showed Tipp absolutely no respect.
Next year we'll have to earn our corn again and prove that were worthy champions and no doubt our old adversaries will be back with a bang. for now we celebrate tonight

    UP TIPP!

Most people would agree that Tipp should have won last year, so they could be going for 3 in a row now! Well done to Tipp.

I remember last year looking at this site and was struck by the nastiness of some of the comments here. As a neutral, some of the Kilkenny comments struck me as being extremely triumphalist. This year, the talk was about 6-in-a-row and there didn't seem to be any doubt in the minds of any Kilkenny people I spoke to that defeat was just not going to happen..

Having said that, I was pleased to see Brian Cody being so gracious in defeat today. After all the hype, it must have been difficult. Kilkenny are a great team but it's not good for the game to see one team dominating.

Who would have thought it would be just so easy for tipp, an 8 point win. I'd like to know what odds you'd have got on that.

I did chat to a few Kilkenny lads before the game who were going on about this team going for 7 or 8 in a row. But I doubt the majority would of thought that, only deluded fans would be that cocky.

Kilkenny fans were fierce cocky and over confident with the 5 in a row. No harm Tipp spoiled the party. Its good for hurling and should silence the Cats fans for a while.

You should probably stop talking to the Biddy's and the Mary's who harp on about how every player is brilliant when they hardly could name the first 15 bar 4 players. Anyone with a bit of cop on would know defeat was possible especially against a very hungry Tipp side.

I personally was gutted about it but I'm happy that Tipp won it in the way they did. They came at us strongly and beat us on the day by being better in every department.

I'm also delighted for my grandad who's from Tipp. He's sick of us going down every year with another All-Ireland. He's had a very hard year and hopefully this gives him a much needed boost.

Remember not all of us Kilkenny folk are ignorant pricks as not all Tipp fans are either.

Hurling won today. Let's look forward to an interesting championship again next year please god. It took a special team and performance to beat one of the best of all time and don't worry we'll definitely be back looking for it next year again

To be honest, 'cocky' was the word I was going to use but didn't want to. I was in conversation with a guy from Kilkenny a few weeks ago and to be honest, I was absolutely shocked by his arrogance. The problem was that some Kilkenny people just got carried away and could never contemplate this Kilkenny team being beaten again. I found it stomach churning but said very little as I didn't see the point. Anything I did say to try to bring a bit of balance was just met with further arrogance. Perhaps he's not so arrogant tonight..... The more exalted a position somebody takes up, the greater the fall.

Marrying Ms. Flanzer from Tipp in Tipp (Ballina) on Saturday week......

We're doing the table assignments and naming tonight. As it happens we've 15 tables at the reception. We've been thinking about names for the tables over the last number of weeks and BINGO, today everything feel into place....

Top Table..... The Brendan Cummins Table!
At the front of the top table to the right.... The Paddy Stapleton Table!
In front of the top table...... The Paul Curran Table!
    etc
    etc

Well done lads. Can't wait for the craic in Tipperary in 2 weeks!

Tipp says hell no to KK's five in a row. It was great to see the disapointment on the face of Tommy Walsh right after the match. Hopefully I can get that image to load up on the my favourite hurling image thread here on this forum.
