I can only remember them using that line when Shawn Michaels was suspended for drugs in 1993. Bit Daft as a few months previous when Hulk Hogan had the belt he barely ever appeared. Were there others?

Although not Jack Tunney, HHH had to drop the IC belt in 1998 due to injury and they used the 30 day contract rule on tv. Had a tournament which Ken Shamrock won.

Didn't know where to post this. Some fella on Newstalk with Moncrieff mentioned ECW and Sabu as influences.

Agree. I like turning it on during lazy parts of an evening. There can be some fun little moments tucked away on the show.

Ironically, also Shawn Michaels when he was European Champion. Sarge used the 30 day rule to force him to defend against his partner Triple H. The match was a piss take and made the title look like an even bigger joke.

Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, EC3 and Gail Kim. That's who TNA need to tie down and build the company around. The likes of Angle, Team 3D etc. are all well and good, but are easy to replace. Those four are the people they need to focus on from here on.

NXT is probably my favourite wrestling show to watch within the last decade. I have never enjoyed Raw this much since 2001.

I would like to see The Dudley Boys back.

Watching the WWE Network (for just $9.99 a month) and my god RVD had some amazing PPV matches back in 2001.

I think Roman Reigns really needs to be worked on if WWE are considering him to be one of their main guys in the future. His one man Shield gimmick is kind of flat at this stage (especially when you look at how Ambrose and Rollins have moved on from it) and I feel he's really been exposed in the ring since The Shield's break up as well. Some of that has got to do with his bad move set, but mostly it's just got to do with his inexperience as a whole.

I do like him, but I haven't been able to get excited about him at all since going solo.

WWE have done a pretty awful job protecting him aswell. Those in ring promos have been a killer for him as he ends up saying things that just don't seem right coming from him (WWE have no idea how to write for him) and he doesn't seem right in that environment. Plus instead of keeping him in briskly paced, explosive matches they've put him in long matches that expose his weaknesses.

He no doubt needs work but he has a presence that can't really be taught and that nobody else on the roster has. Honestly I think him getting hurt actually did him a favour in some ways. It'll stop him from becoming stale and stop WWE from being able to mess him up.

...but he has a presence that can't really be taught and that nobody else on the roster has

Not so sure about this, if I was Reigns I'd be worried about Baron Corbin. He's practically the same guy except taller, whiter and in slightly better shape.

I do t get this Reigns hate? I enjoy his matches, he has an explosive move set, his spear, superman punch and drop kick on the apron are all awesome. I enjoy his matches, sure his character can be worked on, but tht will com eventually . If he is back in time for the rumble he will win that

I wouldn't say it's Reigns hate...I think most people like the guy. His just no where near the rumoured Rumble win and beating Lesnar clean at Wrestlemania 31 that his supposedly in line for

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,804 ✭✭✭Sirsok

I get that, but it's ultimately written in the stars that he will win the rumble, HBK and HHH both won coming back from injuries. In fairness the rumble isn't the type of push it used to be, with guys like Del Rio and Shemus winning it and WWE dropping the ball after that won, it isn't that big of a deal Reigns winning.

If anything it's probably the best decision right now for Reigns to win it as he doesn't have the character like Ambrose and Rollins, who don't need that push as they will get there anyway. Reigns defeating Lesner is the ultimate push that may help Reigns getting to the next level

What I fear is Reigns gets rejected a la Batista if he wins. Most fans would see Ambrose or Bryan as more deserving of the moment, and the spot it brings.

I honestly think they should be patient with the guy. He cannot cut a promo to save his life and unless he does something about that, he simply won't get over to the level they want from him. It's an absolutely urgent issue he should be addressing while he's on the shelf.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,410 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

Talking ability is important but there is no set way on how to get over, get to main event status. Brock couldn't talk. Goldberg. Sting didn't need to speak. Neither did taker. Hogan wasn't a talker.

You need people to take notice and Reigns has that.

Ambrose should be winning the Rumble. They screwed up big time last year by not having Bryan win. Surely they wont make the same mistake again with Ambrose.

Ambrose will get over anyway, just like Bryan did. The payoff for the Bryan was ultimately better because he didn't win the rumble. I remember how pissed I was watchin the rumble but that Mania moment was awesome. Ambrose will excell in whatever fued he is given and doesn't need the rumble win. Admiringly it would be good to see but he doesn't need it, yet

The Bryan pay off was forced on them. They never had any intention of having him win the title in the Main Event. The negative reaction to Batista and Punk walking out meant they had to shift gears. It was pretty blatant at times just how much was made up on the fly. Bryan winning the Rumble and then going to Wrestlemania is what should have happened. WWE just realized too late. By the time the Rumble comes around, Ambrose could easily be as popular as Bryan was and it would be retarded to waste that. Again.

I think Reign's Superman punch is really lame looking. Love the dropkick to the apron though.

    http://wwe.org/
congratulations on wwe.org and sorry about the $1700 damage. you also caused me a damage which you owe me still and you will pay back one way or another.

my question is: are you paying back? if your answer is no and i guess it is no, then keep reading....

last time, you said i was threatening and blackmailing you, no i was not. this time i am. and i am not afraid of your stupid multi billion dollar corporation, i have nothing to lose. i swear god i will destroy your wwe within a year or less. even if i will flight it for the rest of my life.

well, i have already adopted my precausions and it is time to get you busy, i mean real busy. how many domains can be registered with a reserved amount of $10,000 ? calculate the time, effort and the huge amount of money that you will be spending on the upcoming thousands of UDRP cases. example: 10 cases will cost $13k. 1000 cases will cost you $1.3mil.

UDRP or even court cases if you wish, i do NOT care. you will be fighting with your tradmark to claim the upcoming thousands of wwe related domains. you will be also fighting for your business welfare which will be destroyed by these domains' websites that will be identical to your wwe.com website.

identical in many ways as your entire website content has been downloaded and saved. expect a total destruction of your goods and services offered on those sites. oh some won't be really identical because they will be promoting other stuff like porngraphy and some other disturbing stuff.

oh let me give you a small disappointment. you won't be able to make a case for all domains at once. they won't be registered at once or with same registry, registrar or registrant or related in any way regarding email or contact details, they will be even registered from different countries (by the way i am not a Malaysian).

not only that, one will only appear after another once and only after you are engaged in a case and that you have already made a $1300 loss. then the ball will keep rolling.

i see you smiling having this message as evidence to sue me, hahaa no problem you can use it to sue me in any court you like. you know how to fight using a sneaky law, let us see how good you are in a street fight.

i swear god, you must regret it. no need to reply, but you can forward it to your CEO.

THE ABOVE IS WHAT I INTENDED TO DO, BUT NOW I AM NOT GOING TO DO IT. I JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW THAT I LOOK AT YOU AS AN IDIOT WHOM DOES NOT DESERVE MY CHALLENGE NOT EVEN MY ATTENTION. THAT IS THE REASON OF WHICH I LET GO.

IT IS ENOUGH FOR ME TO SHOW THE WORLD AND SPECIFICALLY TO SHOW YOU HOW SMALL YOU ARE NOW .

    Lolwut

ambrose right now isn't anywhere near as over as bryan was 9-12 months ago so him not winning the rumble won't be that big of an issue either way.

none of the shield guys are anywhere near ready yet to mainevent a wrestlemania or be wwe champion. all 3 are young and only 4 months into their main roster singles careers, their time will come but its not now or 6 months from now.

Also with the Network it doesn't really matter who is main eventing Wrestlemania, tickets will sell regardless and ppv numbers won't be such a huge factor. They can also sell it in ither ways, they won't have the taker draw anymore but potentially have Sting , Rock and Austin to all return.

John Tenta vs Big Bubba at the famous Bash At The Beach.... Wow. The worst match I have ever seen in my life, it's a silver dollars on a pole match. But the dollars are about 7ft up from the turnbuckle it's mental not a hope either of them are going to be able to climb it. The only thing that is somewhat ok about it is Jimmy harts ability to climb it.

Watching the Big Show on the Network when he worked as The Giant its so easy to forget how good he was for being so green.

The was amazing to be honest a bump machine and amazing how many times he left his feet.

Bryan is missed an awful lot and a heel Punk is what WWE needs right now.

But for longer term it has to be good they are not there, Rollins and especially Ambrose might be lost if WWE had more established options.

I don't think Punk is missed at all tbh.

Bryan certainly is though. Who knows where Barrett could have gone too, he was hot right when he got hurt.

Barrett is coming back soon though. Can easily see him replacing Orton as the number 2 heel if the Orton face turn is happening.

Barrett is missed but i think he was going to get popular so would be in Cesaro land, stripped of everything that made him start to get people interested in him.

Its what happened to Cesaro where they have a serious lack of heels for popular stars to go against that makes me thing Punk had huge value as a heel. Punk against Cesaro when he was getting popular, against Ambrose, Reigns etc would be great

If Lashley and MVP become available anytime soon WWE should sign both, push Lashley hard like TNA have in the last few months and do a match vs. Lesnar.

Nah Punk is a top guy and with Bryan injured, they don't have many of those.

Beating him would mean more than beating anyone bar Cena if done right and he was always someone you could build your top angles around, Cena deserves his spot, but he really has felt over exposed since Bryan went down.

I dunno...I like Lashley and MVP in TNA but, like Bully Ray, I think they benefit there from their lack of credible main event stars*. In WWE, Vince can be quite temperamental with guys and lose interest easily (and can afford to when he's spoiled for choice...current main event situation notwithstanding...), so I could see him struggling with these guys for lack of charisma (Lashley), lack of grabability, i.e. the ability to grab eyeballs immediately (MVP) and lack of physique (Bubba - though he's in much better shape than I've ever seen him these days). TNA have had to make them work and they've been better for it. They're the rare examples of guys who I'd rather see as big fish in a small pond.

*I know Bully is gone but it's a good example all the same.

Anybody watch the first episode of Lucha Underground? It's really overproduced so it's kind of weird to watch and a lot of the character set up stuff was very goofy. Plus heel owner with a stable is a major turn off. Ricochet vs. Morrison was a lot of fun though.

Someone called it Wrestling Society Mex! Yeah it was a mixed bag. Like how it was shot but the constant camera cuts, cutting towards the commentary table a lot and aspects of the commentary should be revised.

Interested to see how it evolves. Future episodes have more Luchadores and Alberto Del Rio says he is joining next year. In time Rey Mysterio could be on the show too.

If it lasts that long. Wednesday night was an awful night to debut. I know they couldn't have predicted the World Series going seven games but that likely hit them pretty hard ratings wise.

I hated Black Lesnar's WWE run. He looked phoney as hell, and with his big baby's head on him, wasn't believable as a tough guy at all. Can't see WWE running to being him back in after the craic with Krystal Marshall.

MVP on the other hand, I'd love to see back.
