Parcel Motel FAQ thread by flyguy.

If you go to parcelmotel.com and pre register for the service that launches tomorrow you get 3 free drops at the parcel motel. Also it allows you to get items delivered to an address in the north for any sites that will only do uk delivery or have ridiculous postage charges outside the uk
Parcel Motel is a whole new way to manage your online shopping deliveries. Each Parcel Motel contains 80 secure lockers of varying sizes. They are all located in convenient places such as petrol station forecourts with 24-hour access 7 days a week. To find out where your nearest one is click here.
No more waiting around or missed delivery notices telling you to pick up your parcel during the exact same hours that you’re at work. And no more worrying about memos from your boss on the subject of receiving personal deliveries at work!
Now you can have your parcels sent directly to your nearest Parcel Motel ready for collection, at a time that suits you.

handy for ordering stuff from the uk on sites that dont deliver to the Republic, only €3.50 per delivery, or if theres no one at home during the day to take delivery

  • Registered Users Posts: 932 ✭✭✭swampy353

Also it would seem that if you want to order a large item, you will be able to collect from the depot. Handy for the deals on amazon. Also only €3.50

Pity they don't offer the service to the rest of the country other than just Dublin (and 1 in kildare).

So you get your parcel sent to northern ireland and you have to collect it yourself or they will deliver things to the republic that are uk only?

Nope, they will deliver it to the Republic of Ireland location for the same price as it would cost to get them to hold it in Ireland from the first place.

Would this work for small electronic items from the likes of play.com?

  • Registered Users Posts: 498 ✭✭badker

cant see why it wouldnt work. check out q & a's section.

    https://www.parcelmotel.com/how-it-works/faqs/

Handy if you are near one of the collection points. Would like to see it up and working for a while before ordering...has anyone seen these in person?

.....................................................................................................................................Seems 1st 2 visits are free. A least you can try it out first.

Your first 2 visits to the parcel motel are free. After that it is €3.50 per transaction. There is no extra charge for using the UK address to avail of free shipping in the UK.

  • Registered Users Posts: 119 ✭✭PeWu79

    2 not 3?
It says 3 on their webpage
    3 x €3.50 = €10.50

Yeah they could do with a depot a little further west ok, somewhere like Athlone would be perfect (for me :D )

Pity they dont then ship it onwards like Deliverme.ie do

Yep, Deliverme seems to be a much better idea if ur ordering bits from the UK that can't be shipped here.. No limit on size and he'll ship it to you or you can collect.

seems like niteline couriers are behind it. worth trying once or twice anyhow, thanks op.

this is a great service - BUT there are an increasing amount of sellers that only ship to mainland UK, so the delivery address in mainland UK would be 10000 times better

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,744 ✭✭✭funnyname

Cheers op, just signed up and got a credit of €7.50, great to have this as a back up.
