I applied about a week and a half ago. Got confirmation of my application on Monday, and not long after I put up that message yesterday got a phone call about going for an interview! So next Friday is interview day for me!

I hear the interview for primary is quite relaxed so if thats anything to go on you will need good knowledge of your subject area, why you want to be a teacher etc. Similar questions to other pdge interviews.

Im starting to worry having not heard anything about an interview, have to wait and see what next week brings and hope for the best

I got a date for the interview so I'm just preparing at the moment. I assume it will be along the same lines as the primary interview, why you want to do teaching ect and your subject area. just wondering has anyone actually done the interview for the post primary yet? and if yes how did it go?

Hey, I havent done my interview yet but the best tip I have is to go to the govt publications office off dawson street and buy the syllabus and guidelines for your subject area, theu will ask about your kbowledge of subject area and these are key for answering questions like whats the most challenging/boring/interesting part of the curriculum and ways to teach these are in the guidelines.
of course you might already know all this but hope it helps. I hope your interview goes well : )

Well first of all we don't allow text speak on Boards so try not to use it.

Are you talking about the primary school Hibernia course? This thread is about the post primary Hibernia course.

    Hey there,

Had the interview on Friday. No word yet, but hey, hopefully that is not a bad sign yet! It was quite relaxed I must say. There were 3 people on the panel - opened with general questions on my interest in teaching and the course etc, then some questions on my degree and the curriculum and finally some questions on communication and ICT in schools......

I think it went ok, but I shall have to see when I hear if I was successful or not! Best of luck to those of you waiting for interview! If anyone has also had an interview how soon did you hear back from them?

    K

    Hi K,
Thanks for letting us know what they asked.
They are interviewing by subject area so it will be a couple of weeks before they finish so dont be worried if you dont hear straight away.
Im sure your interview went really well, hopefully you'll hear soon.

    Hi Everyone,
So what subjects are they interviewing for at the moment. How long after the interview will you hear whether you were successful or not?Does anyone know how many spaces for each subject? How long was the interview for those who have attended. I would imagine the whole process is very competitive. For those of you who have applied do you have very good degrees as mine is not so great?Best of luck to all who applied and let us all know when ye hear either way. Aplogies for all the questions just curious as there is so little information as it is so new yet.

Well my first subject is English, and I know that another being interviewed next week is English as well. Ashm14, is it a case that they will interview all in a subject area in a block and then make decisions on which candidates to accept? Or am I reading your post incorrectly?

    Hi K,
I called the college and they said were interviewing by subject area and will be interviewing for the next couple of weeks. Thats the only solid piece of info I have im assuming that they will interview everyone and then decide. But they might let people know as they go along. Theres very little info available on numbers they are taking etc so its hard to judge.
If your anxious to know when you will find out (even just a ball park time) I would give the college a call. They were extremely nice and helpful when I called.
I hope that helps im sure everything will work out, the waiting is the worst part!

    Hi Everybody

I had my interview last thursday and got an email of acceptance this morning :). The interview was very relaxed and they asked you questions based on your personal statement and your teaching subject. Questions such as classroom management, discipline as well as types of learning styles cropped up in my interview.

Relax in the interview, It only lasts 15 to 20 mins and don't forget to smile, they will be judging your personality :)

Good luck to everybody else, and hopefully see you in October

    Hi K,
looks like its actually relatively quick turnover as another poster got acceptance today from interview last week.

Like I said if you have any concerns just give them a bell.

Hopefully you'll hear soon. Best of luck!

You and me both! From what I hear of the Primary course with Hibernia it is pretty heavy going, so I'm assuming this will be the same, but I am really looking forward to getting stuck in to the course.

ah lads i'm getting nervous now!! my interview is next wednesday night at 7.45! Where exactly is the interview being held they didn't send me an e-mail with directions like I had asked so I want to make sure I know where I am going!! Do they ask you specific questions about different novels etc.. or just general questions on English or History (my two subjects!) good luck to everyone going for interview and let me know how you get on!!

Had my interview last thursday too, and got my acceptance confirmation on Friday there. So they seem to let you know pretty quick. My first subject is Geography.

Hey, these are the directions that they gave me and they were spot on. I'm guessing that your interview will be on in the Hibernia Office in Clare Street too! Best of luck with it.

Directions: If you are heading down Grafton Street toward Trinity College/Molly Malone statue take a right at the end of Grafton Street down Nassau Street. Continue straight down Nassau Street and you will pass the Kilkenny design Centre. Keep going until you get to Clare Street. Hibernia College is directly opposite the millennium entrance to the National Gallery of Art, No 2 Clare Street we have a Blue door and the logo is on the blinds. It’s about 8 minutes walk from Grafton Street.

Hi, I am also interested in applying for the HDip in Post Primary with Hibernia. My subjects would be Economics and CSPE. I know that Economics will not be offered until 2012 so I was wondering JI1 where did you hear that they will be running Economics in Feb 2012 as I can't find any information on this on the Hibernia website? And good luck to everybody who is interviewing at the moment.
