Yeah. It's steep. i scooted around to the Clayton (FKA Bewleys hotel) and paid 1.50. Only problem there id say is the car park is small and won't cater for numbers over the weekend.

Am blocking all calls from my mother until Sunday afternoon!! She decided she's not been very supportive (true) so rang me to say sorry, she realises it really is a big achievement to train for marathon (I'm all, awh thanks mum, happy that she has realised this). Then she goes and ruins it all by saying, she still thinks it's too much for me but sure the training is done now so I might as well run, followed by the sage advice that I might collapse at the end, that is why there it first aid!!

    Hahaha!!! :D:D

    Tis lucky I'm not sensitive!

Good luck novices. Its gonna be awesome. Perfect weather. Wish I was running. Enjoy it. You only get one first marathon.

For those driving on street parking on around herbert park is usually plentiful.

Best of luck on Sunday everyone. It's been an absolute pleasure being involved in this thread, and it feels weird not to be running myself! I've learned an awful lot over the last few months, so thanks in particular to nop98, Firedance, aquinn and the other experienced posters who chipped in along the way.

The only advice I have is to be very conservative for at least the first half of the race. If it feels too easy, you're probably doing it right!

When it gets tough - think of all the training you've done, and how you got through all those LSRs and MP runs. Remember why you signed up in the first place, and that'll get you through it.

Looking forward to following your heroics on the tracker!

Just popping in to wish everyone good luck, I watch this thread every year and love seeing the progress that people make from the start of the plan up to this point. For those of you who are fit and ready for DCM, enjoy the day, weather looks good, training has been good from what I can see and the mentoring has been spot on. For those of you who have been struck down with injury, there will be other days for you to enjoy.

Thanks Firedance, the marathon is the main thing on my mind at the moment :) I'll definitely be in McGrattans afterwards. And happy birthday to you!

The queues were light at the expo earlier, and the volunteers were all doing a great job. Got my number and had a quick look around. Tried a few freebies and stocked up on a few gels.

Looked to me like numbers are assigned as you pick them up. They scan your ticket then a number.
There's space under the number. Is it worth putting our names there?

Collected my number earlier, it was pretty quiet when I was there, quick in and out job.
Can't believe the big day is only a matter of hours away!
Best of luck to everyone and a massive thank you to Nop, firedance and everyone else that's contributed to the thread. The support and advice along the way has been fantastic and such a help. I'm really glad to have been a part of this years group.
I'm on my phone and not sure how to add myself to the table. My number is 11057 and I think my target time will be in or around 3:55:00.

Hi guys, I'll be busy tonight making my list and checking it twice, make sure I don't forget anything. I'll be driving up from Cork tomorrow, hoping to get to the RDS around 2. Hopefully avoid the rugby match traffic then.

I'm a bit OCD when it comes to the pins for the race number, I have my own ones which are nice and small. Sometimes you go to a race and they give you four of these big pins, your number would be hanging off you.

It's strange the amount of us that have got sick this week. I haven't had so much as a sniffle in 12 months, as soon as the taper starts I got a cold. Is there some science behind why so many people get sick during the taper.

I'm not sure if I'll make it to the pub after, might try and pop in for one quick one. If not good luck to everyone on Sunday. The information I've got from the mentors and fellow novices has been invaluable.

We almost need a separate table to track all the sniffles and manflus going around! What's the saying again, as long as it's above the neck, you're okay (off to re-read last year's thread)?

There's been lots of tips and tricks and remedies already posted... I really hope you'll all feel better in time for the race - keep the PMA up!

Everywhere I went today there were people sniffling and coughing..!! It's a warzone out there.. got to keep the head down and whatever you do; don't rub your eyes! That's how you get it into your system.

Bought a Flip Belt today at Expo.. They're a cool belt. My SPIBELT holds Gels in loops and always worried they'll cut into me. Will try it out tomorrow in 2M and may go with it for Sunday.. Changes like that are allowed??

Nearly bought one myself, sticking with my clone flipbelt though. Quality of mine isn't as good as yours but they are really handy.

Resisted the temptation to buy loads of bumf at the expo...didn't hang around too long either having headed out after work. Number is already on the bag. Otherwise, I'd end up in a panic trying to do it on Sunday morning.

I'll be wearing my shiny MSB club top (light green, blue trim) with sandy coloured cap and shades.

Is it too early for this?

Week 18, HHN1 - The calm before the storm...

    Tues: 3.02 mi. Time: 29:12. 9:39 min/mi Avg Pace.
    Weds: 4.02 mi. Time: 38:55. 9:41 min/mi Avg Pace.
    Thurs: 2.03 mi. Time: 19:50. 9:50 min/mi Avg Pace.

Like others have reported (?) earlier in the week, had to keep en eye my pace a little on these runs. The body was just naturally carrying itself, to a degree and possibly overuse of the same route for these shorter outings, I didn't want go below 9 or 9:30...because, stick to the plan.

Fri: Expo. Woke at about 5:40am this morning, par for the course. Not much sleep after that, was like a zombie later in the morning. Listened to an interview with Padraig Harrington, how he talks to himself even if he hits a bad shot. Train 1 - sat next to someone who was germy. Train 2 - another who smelled like a pub. Didn't stay long in the RDS, found it quite warm in the hall.

Gear list being checked. Gels, bars, electrolyte/zero tab, socks, taxi money, official bag, other bag, zip lock bag, spare clothes, safety pins, vaseline and PMA! Granola in the oven.

My head is a bit wrecked and all over the place, but I think/hope it's the exhaustion talking.
