The xtravision site lists HDMI Connection as a feature, whereas komplett doesnt. So Id say it is HD Ready.

For the likes of SkyHD, it's believed that you will need your HDTV to have a HDMI slot with HDCP (encryption used)

Yet, on Xtravision website it says "HD Ready" and "HDMI Connection"

If it can do HDCP over DVI...then it can be called HD Ready i think.

    looks like a nice tv

Definately HD Ready - the DVI can do HDCP.

There will be a HDMI connection on this model at some time - its quite possible XV have it already - I'll be going in to have a look over the next day or so - they have told me the Baggot st branch have one on display

I was thinking of getting it myself for my 360 and for when the PlayStation3 comes out. I was going to get a 26" HD ready TV in Currys for €799 but I might stretch to this instead.

Was looking at LOTR menu screen on it today. There was no one around to get the film actually going on it. I'll have another look tomorrow. Was in a rush today. First impression was that it wasn't as sharp as thr Sony & Philips in store. (Xtravision Baggot Street). Hard to know what kinda quality the signal was though.

Had written a big spiel written for this, but when I submitted, it gave me an error, and lost what I'd written!
I'm not in the mood for typing it all out again, but here's a jpg of the specs. Someone more learned might be along in a while to confirm if it's a good set or not!

I saw an advertisement saying that it can be ordered at any Xtravision store. Whether that's for collection or delivery, it didn't say. I might pick up one in two weeks time after my exams. Is there limited availability though or what? Where did you see the part about the offer ending on the 31st?

Here's it on their site: http://www.xtravision.ie/xvElectrical.asp?id=345

Xtra-vision have sold out of their first batch, I suppose that's a good sign?

There will be a new batch delivered on Friday week so any store will take your deposit. The five per store thing is a tad misleading. There are over 200 Xtra-visions in the country; so that's 1000 TV's. You're talking about one million euro there. They won't sell out; if your local big store have sold five and the small neighbour have sold three, they'll transfer it for you.

I don't think it's delivery only. Delivery costs E25. A chap ordered one in our store the other day and we got one transfered from another branch in the our delivery; we wouldn't do that if it was delivery only.

How much would they be looking for in a deposit ? And if they aren't coming in until next friday, Thats a good thing. Im not looking to buy till next friday :)

Anyone know how much the deposit is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,256 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

I took the plunge and ordered one in Cavan this morning. The manager in there told my mate (who I got to put down the deposit) that the company only have 500. Once those are sold, the offer is over.

He said its a special deal they got with Hyundai because Hyundai wanted an exclusive deal to sell their TVs in Xtravision and this is the deal Xtravision got in return (or something along those lines).

Now that could be just marketing bull but he said it after my mate had put the deposit down so he'd have no need to try and sell one to someone who's already bought the product. Thought I'd give yas the heads up anyway.

By the way, the model is the A321 and deposits are €100. When you put the deposit down, the store order you the TV. I was told mine should be in next Friday.

friday the 19th or the one after

Word of warning guys. While it is definitely a bargain, it only has a DVI-HDCP interface. Sky Digital HD (which is basically the first HD service available) requires a HDMI interface. Now it is possible to get a DVI to HDMI connection most of these adapters don't pass on the security/copyright (i.e. HDCP) and according to rumours the Sky HD will simply "down-scale" to SD (standard definition) from HD if it does not find an acceptable connection, so it may not display HD content from Sky HD.

Other than that it looks like a real bargain.

Cheers for the heads up but I'm not really interested in Sky anyway. Don't have it in Cavan where I'll be putting the TV and don't plan to get it. Strandard definition will do if I ever decide to though.

I mainly want it for my 360 (and hopefully PS3 in the future) and watching DVDs.
