Does anyone know is that the going rate for 6 months braces? Does anyone know if there are any orthodontists in the Dublin area that offers the braces for a good price? I was also considering incognito braces (braces fitted on the inside of the teeth) and I am wondering is there much difference in price between 6 month braces and incognito? I only need minor work done on my teeth as I had braces when I was young but my teeth have subsequently moved again and I want to get them fixed.

    Thanks

I've seen pricing for 6 month braces as low as €1200 per arch and as high as €3200 per arch, for what looks to be the same thing.

Can anyone explain the variation in prices across dental practices for this product?

(Please let's not have another thread get bogged down in the suitability or not of these products...)

It depends on your case, the severity of the malocclusion, the person doing the job and their pricing structure. Competition is alive an well, but dont be fooled into thinking that all 6 month braces are the same regardless of who does it or who its being done on.

One variation between dental practices is dental QUALIFICATIONS.

The listing on www.orthodontics.ie only includes those who have recognised specialist training in orthodontics.

You can buy this car for €38k
    http://www.carzone.ie/search/BMW/1-Series/120d-Spo/36813700629014730/advert?channel=CARS
It is a new 4 door BMW diesel, nice car, will get you from A to B....

This one is over twice the price

It's still a new 4 door BMW diesel, nice car, will get you from A to B....

Some will value the difference in car, some will not....

You need to put a value on the "extra" that you are getting, that may be experience, expertise, qualifications, convienience....

If you don't get the car analogy, then forget it...

I just had my Six Month Braces which are clear braces (like train tracks but white) taken off after 5 months and my teeth are perfectly straight now. I just had my upper arch done and it only cost €1,600 with a clinic in Ballsbridge. I think they were charging an extra €600 for the second arch so €2,200 for both, but I didn't need anything done with my lower arch. The braces were pretty discreet and some of my friends didn't spot I had braces until I said it them. I didn't come across the incognito braces when I was looking around. Glad I got it done as they look perfectly straight now.

You should ask for a refund of 1/6 of the cost, 5 months when you paid for 6, rip off!!!!

I like the way you're thinking - however the dentist did say at the outset that I'm not paying for the number of months that I have the braces, but that I'm paying for the end result which is straight teeth and that I'd pay €1,600 whether it takes 5, 6 or 7 months. If they could have achieved the same result in 3 months I would have been willing to pay them more as I didn't want to be wearing braces any longer than I needed to just to feel I was getting value for money!!! Besides they were the cheapest quote by far.

1200 is excellent value. I paid 3500 for top and bottom clear braces. Can pm me if anyone wants more info.

Ok one more time.....the price will depend on your specific situation. If one person has a simple case it will cost x, it the next persons case is more complex it will cost X+Y. Prices are not directly comparable.

My dentist does 6ms for €2,450 (both arches). It's a set fee regardless of case. Very happy with mine so far

This is definitely not the case with the Dentist I attended in Ballsbridge - regardless of the severity of the case they charge the exact same price for everybody same price - they use a system called "Six Month Smiles" which is a fixed price for all cases - the only variation is the length of time it takes to straighten the teeth.

No six month smiles is not a fixed cost for all cases.

No six month smiles is not a fixed cost for all cases.

I have just spoken to the receptionist in the dental clinic where I got my Six Month braces to clarify this - she categorically confirms that regardless of the severity of the case and once the patient is suitable for Six Month Smiles the cost is €1600.

Can people not post up were they got there's and the price?
I'd be very interested in getting these done but been quoted €3000 plus for one arch in the local

Exactly mark, only a small cohort of patient are suitable, doesn't stop people demanding them and ending up with less than ideal results. I am a dentist here, I know what I am talking about.

Please ask for straight teeth, not 6 month braces.

NO NAMES ALLOWED, ANYONE NAMING A CLINIC OTHER THAN BY PM WILL BE BANNED, READ THE CHARTER. ANYONE SHILLING A CLINIC WILL BE BANNED, ANYONE SIGNING UP TO RECOMMEND A CLINIC WILL BE BANNED, ANYONE WORKING FOR A CLINIC AND NOT DECLARING THIS WILL BE BANNED AND THEIR POST DELETED.

Hi - can anyone from this post PM me with price of braces they got done either for them or for child. My 14 year was quoted €3500 today - I don't think her teeth are very bad to be honest and may realistically only need to the top done - I just don't want to be ripped off ! I live in south co Dublin and with work and stuff around here or D2 or D4 would work

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,538 ✭✭✭btkm8unsl0w5r4

Braces cost different amounts for different patients. Go to a few orthodontists and get quotes.

Yes - I know - I was trying to save myself some time which was the point of the post - hoping that someone had a really great reliable orthodontist who spread payments and did a great job in the southside of dublin

you asked for the price of braces not a recommendation for an orthodontist. Reread your post.

ok - the two really go hand in hand - just if anyone has anyone they would recommend via pm that would be great and the price they paid but no worries

That poster has not logged for over a month to boards and funnily seems to run a on-line marketing/branding/webdesign/SEO company involved in facial cosmetics.....suspicious moderator is suspicious

sorry to rehash an old thread, but I'm just wondering could any of you guys pm with recommendations for where you had your treatment done..there are two places in the northwest here, one in donegal and sligo that are offering invisilign and 6mnth braces. The prices seem very high. Hoping there may be alternatives in Dublin. Thanks in advance.
