Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Iconic pictures are more effective then any story. Sometimes you see photographs that just take your breath away. The following photos; some famous, some infamous, did exactly that to me on first viewing. They will live on, as a permanent reminder of the events which caused them.

    Tienemen Square Protest:

    9/11:

    Mai Lai Massacre:

Sorry to spoil the party, but at least two of those are apparently the biggest cons in history, one completely out of context, one 100% faked.

And that's not even including the "possible" moon landing as having a question mark.

Here's another one that caused heartache and confusion (documentary on TV a few months back).

The last two photos would be the only ones that are iconic but included five as it adds more context.

I am aware of the context and detail of both photos, it may even be why I labelled the Bigfoot one "Fake Bigfoot" don'tcha think?

As for the Vietnam one, it certainly meets the criteria of the thread as having shaken the world, regardless of the facts that emerged afterwards.

What a great story, I never knew that. A sober lesson about taking things at face value, about ASSUMING anything in this life. A moving story too. Well done. Thanks Liam.

Here's a more modern one, from the internet age. Neda Agha Soltan, shot by a sniper in Iran. A ripple went around the Earth when this YouTube video appeared...

There's about 10000 objects in that picture with most of them being entire Galaxys each of those could have billions or trillions of stars. Hubble looked at a piece of sky about the size of a grain of sand held at arms length.

I think even more so than JFK and the public fear after his assassination, at the time that Ruby shot Oswald and it was shown live people were in absolute fear of what would happen next.
