Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just disable the bloatware and pop a new launcher on and away you go.

No you still have a non stock android device devoid of any updates until samsung and/or your network provider get round to handing them out. It's just rubbish.

    Rom it?

I get what your staying all the same and for me the launcher worked until I just said f**k this I'm romming it and haven't looked back. I understand that's not for everyone and agree it's a real pain that both HTC and Samsung don't give you the choice but force your hand.

ROMS are buggy, all of them Cyanogen, Darkys, Android Revolution, whatever, yes I flash them as I prefer it to stock Sense or Touchwiz, but no they don't offer as good an experience as vanilla android.

I'm the same, I prefer a natural Android feel so I'll flash a community ROM on whatever I get, usually within a few days. I'm lucky that I'm not due an upgrade till June, works out perfect.

I'm still undecided between the GS3 and the One X, although the GS3 seems to be tipping the scale with it's removable battery (a nasty practice), SD card slot and 50GB Dropbox space. I've had a quick play with the One X, I just need to do same the GS3 to see if there's anything I don't like. I was surprised at how plastic the One X was compared to older HTC phones, a very Samsung feel to it, would have sold on me was it metal.

I always liked sense, it added the polish that froyo and gingerbread needed. Touchwiz lasted about 2 hours on my S2 but it didn't seem very intrusive, more like just a launcher. A mountain of bloatware as standard tho.

Stock ICS with Nova is great.

So when can we expect this to be in shops? I heard 3 months - would that be correct?

CPW told me today that they would have it in June, not sure when in June, what networks or price...

just looking at the htc one x... similar screen, processors similar on paper. seems samsung has better though even though slightly slower probably caus of ice cream sandwich in most things...
front camera better on samsung, i think in the past samsung have had better cameras, though nowhere near nokias standard ofc.
nice features on samsung, bump, and s talk or whatever their version of siri is, yes its "nothing new on iphone" but the phone is better. apple will bring out their new phone in 6 months and it will be the spec of this phone.... why wait? :P
im due an upgrade so going for this now. happy out

Samsung Galaxy SIII 16GB Now Available For Pre-Order For £499.95 From Amazon UK
Samsung's next flagship smartphone finally launched last week and we spent many paragraphs proffering our opinions on it. Most of us cannot wait to get our grubby hands on it, but it looks like UK customers will be getting it pretty soon, as the Galaxy SIII has gone up for pre-order on Amazon UK.
The 16GB version of the Galaxy SIII in Pebble Blue or Marble White will retail for £499.95 ($806.67) and will be available from the expected release date of May 30, 2012. It is unlikely that Amazon UK will offer the 32GB variant of the device any time soon, as it is currently exclusive to Vodafone UK.

It's a pity that the Euro is so bad vs the Pound at the moment!

    £500 is over €620 :pac:

And I don't reckon it will be getting any less 'bad' any time soon tbh. There a couple of years ago when it was almost at parity with the Euro were exceptional times. Unfortunately it seems for the moment anyway, the cheapest way of getting the new phones is on contract with eMobile or whatever.. Not the way ti should be but it is. check out German Amazon too, they will also ship here without bother

Its €588 there, not a whole lot cheaper but better than nothing..

Yeah, amazon.de would be the better option alright!

Phonesonline.ie has it for €629, so not much difference from Amazon UK.

After waiting months for the sIII to be announced I was greatly disappointed with the overall design of it. So I went in and bought the HTC one X yesterday and I have to say it's just brilliant. Looks a lot better than the Sammy tbh id say its just as good if not better:)

    Unboxing of sorts.

edit: A review of sorts too: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_iii-review-757p2.php

I like this bit: ''The 4.8" Super AMOLED of HD resolution at the front is where the Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III magic happens. The screen image quality is every bit as impressive as its specs suggest - tack sharp and with perfectly deep blacks, it's arguably the best you can find on the market.''

BUT time will tell I guess! Darn I want to play now!

Not much talk of the notification led in any previews at the moment so hopefully it actually is there and not just a charging led.

It's a pity there isn't a black version, I think the blue is gick and white is a girls colour :p:pac: I'm going to hold out for it over the one x though unless it's looking like July before meteor pick it up here

Apparently the whole design of the phone (Including the colour choices) were made to not infringe on any of Apple's patents (Which includes the black bezel).

Oh congrats! Hope you enjoy it!
Probably will do the Sammy myself in the end as the OH is getting one for sure and I love the idea of the sharing beam thing! But will return quick snap if it's not everything and more I want it to be.

Didnt think they ever had one but you can always use the NoLED app as the entire screen is made up of LEDs anyway.

Yea was thinking the same but each pic I see gives a different shade and in some I like the blue and some I dont... so it's hard to tell without some hands on time. Roll on June!

    whos got it on release?
just o2 and vodafone? i went into o2 today and theyre robbery. 45 quid a month for basic stuff... and that only includes 250 txt and minutes, and free txt to o2 who i know noone on it.. so will end up running up a bill bethinks.. but its a 6 month contract only, so maybe worth it if they knock off some amount off the phone then switch back to meteor/ that new crowd which does stuff for a tenner a month

I thought that both O2 and 48 were sibling companies of Telefonica Ireland.
And as such O2 does not own 48, but is in competition with them.

    Am I wrong yeah? :pac:

They're different in that Meteor is different to eMobile. In other words, they are the same.

    Ah not to worry anyway!
On the plus side, any O2 locked phone should work fine on 48 or Tesco mobile.

I wonder what the cheapest PAYG price will be on this phone?

The Galaxy SII was very easy to SIM unlock, I'm hoping the SIII will be as easy! :D

Meteor didnt even bother locking the GS2 dont know why networks waste their energy.

Id imagine the Pay as you go price will be pretty close to the simfree retail for it, that was the case with the GS2 anyway.

I think €499 would be good price for PAYG, but I reckon I'm dreaming, as SIM free is over €600 at the moment! :)
    RangeR wrote: »

Yeah, the network code of O2 mobiles, which is used to network lock a phone is 272-02 which would be the same code that 48 and Tesco need to use to access the O2 network as an virtual network.

Same relationship as eMobile with Meteor and Postfone with Vodafone.

I reckon it will be €549 prepay

Yeah, I was looking forward to this phone for months but I was pretty underwhelmed when it finally was announced.. As well spending over €500 too is a bit much for me at the moment.. think I might just get a second hand S2.. Coming from a S1..

Last i looked, 02's data rates were archaic, and Vodafone's monthly rental, to me, seemed exorbitant.

I hope this eMobile crowd work out for me.......

Think I'll stick with the SGS2 for a while, does everything I need, which means I can move from Meteor contract to another possibly cheaper one, does anyone know contracts cheaper than Meteors €35 a month?
I'm not too fecked about calls or texts as I never use them up, at least 1GB of internet would be nice though. :)

My only concern is could I live with something that big in my pocket, will have to see it in person and decide then, obviously from a technology point of view, it is superb.

I've pre-ordered an SIII from expansys, 659.99 sim-free. 16GB Blue. I prefer the white one but don't want a white phone!

Its needs to be confirmed when they have stock so can still back out if i want. I think i only ordered so i'd stop thinking about whether to get one or not!
