Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They didn't ask anything about age as far as I recall (the oul memory isn't too good....).
I made lots of misspellings, used no punctuation, had atrocious grammar, said "like" and "OMG" and l33t a lot - that seemed to fool them.

Yeah that'd work considering there's no place to fill in words like that. Unless of course your address is:

won't accept any of my cards to pay for membership. It says:

"one of the products you are buying is not allowed for paying with credit"

edit: just noticed that their card payments mechanism is not set up yet and you have to buy a voucher from a payzone outlet.

could they not just have waited until they had things set up properly!

.. from 48 ...Thanks for getting in touch with us here at 48.
Apologies for our card payment method not working, I’m sorry if we have inconvenienced you in any way.
As you would expect, with a new network, we are currently having a few teething problems, card payments being the main one, but we are on it and working to resolve the issue ASAP.
I have attached a link below which we update regularly so keep an eye for any new updates http://help.48months.ie/home

Got the SIM and on the network. :) Does anyone know if you use the SIM can you then port over your number later? or do you have to port now?

P.S. The web site says all porting is disabled, porting requests will be queued until Monday: http://help.48months.ie/home

I got my SIM this morning, ported over my number, went to the shop and topped up by 10euro(as you cant top up online)... But when i log into my account it says i have no credit, but when i check my balance ringing 1740 it says i have 11 euro..
Response from 48months is I will have to wait until Monday to get it sorted as they have gone home for the weekend and they are sorry that I will have no phone for the weekend.... What a disaster...:confused::confused:

If you topped by 10 EUR, then surely the 10 EUR was used to pay your 'membership fee' and hence it would make sense that your balance is zero?

A mobile phone network that don't work the weekends? How ridiculous, so you've no phone for the weekend? That's a bit irresponsible of them as well really. Looks like the network is also run by 18 to 22 year olds.

No my 10euro top up was not used to pay my membership.. If I call the top up number 1740 now it says I have 11 euro credit.... But there is only 1 way to pay for membership and that is on the website and when I log in to my account online it says I have zero balance...

It costs you 10 EUR via a 'membership fee'.

You then need to top up for other services such as data.

Its just one 10euro per month... They just call it a membership and you renew it each month... It is a great deal, if it would just start....

You can locate your nearest Payzone outlet on this page: http://www.payzone.ie/

Has anyone successfully managed to pay the membership and get the free calls and texts?

The business model seems to have two core and diverging assumptions

a.) Most young people don't user the internet on their phone
b.) Most your people who do use the internet are too dumb to figure out they will be screwed on data charges.

Not sure I would bet a lot of money on either being true....

I can't believe you're actually saying this. The €2 a week thing is cheaper than the cheapest existing daily 69c thing with meteor. The 2 euro covers 7 days with 500MB exceeding meteors 350mb daily combined 7 day cycle.

In comparison to threes deal it is cheaper on a per month basis. You spend 10 euro on membership and 8 euro for 4 weeks data.

In conclusion, I'm part of the target market demograph and from my above research It is clear to me the positives outweigh the negatives. And I am certainly neither of the two afore mentioned groups.

That data deal is a special introductory offer - there's no details about what pricing will be after it ends other than some sh*ite about hourly charges/midnight expiry etc.

Thats whats putting me off switching over, i mailed them to ask what we would be paying after this offer ends and I was told the boss hadn't told them yet! I'm all for a company aimed at 18-22 year olds but it sounds like the boss called the company 48months coz thats his age.

had the same issue first answer i couldn't understand a word of it have since got this reply only thing is how do you do it i cant see the option on site where is says pay membership by topup

Sorry that you’re still confused. I’ll give it another go at explaining.
So, firstly you need to top up your phone with the €10 Voucher, (remember you don’t need a membership to add credit to your account)
But you can’t do anything with this €10 as you haven’t paid your membership fee; with me so far?
What you can do is use that €10 credit as your membership fee (purchase your membership fee with your balance) and that’s you sorted!
Then what you will have is €0.00 on your balance, but will have free calls and texts to any network in Ireland for a month.
Hope this is a bit better, anything else at all get back to me.
    Thanks again,
Greg @ the 48 care crew

    just got this reply

Once you have applied your voucher to your phone, you should then see on your account that you can pay using your balance.
Let me know how it goes. If it doesn’t go according to plan, send me in some screen shots of what happens and we’ll get to the bottom of it.
    Speak soon,

When I go into a payzone outlet do I ask for a general €10 payzone voucher, or one specifically for 48hours? Sorry, I've never used payzone before so I don't know how it works.

You ask them for a '48' topup voucher - but you may be lucky to find a payzone outlet that can find it as an option on their terminal - someone on here as had success, I have not in a Supervalu.

I rang Payzone and they say "all terminals" should have 48 since a few days ago but maybe there are some terminals still need to be updated.

SCORE! I'm 19 again! Topped up in a Spar, then new option online to pay membership with balance - done! I think I only joined for the sheer challenge! First call made successfully.
